Bov Ughhhh.... Please I Am Not A Wanker.....
CEF11E replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
thanks guys,,, much appreciated. What happens is that I floor it from take off and it gets to 8000rpm and changes into second, the turbo goes WHOOSH and then starts spooling again. What it seems like is the shaft speed is really high before the change and between 1st and 2nd it slows down as there is nowhere for the pressure to go. Once 2nd is engaged it lags and 1/2 a second later it builds boost again. On the boost guage it never reads below 9~10 psi between changes. BOV is a cheap bit on insurance anyway so i will get a standard rb25 BOV seeming as it is a rb25 turb, Cheers guys. -
OK. First of all my need just so coensides with 1000 new forum posts about BOV's and I would like to add I am not after any sound or cool looking shiny metal thing to bolt to my intake. I need a solution... I have a VG20DET Auto nissan and have recently put an RB25 turbo, 3" exhaust, highflow cat, Retuned ECU, Water/Methanol Injection kit, transmission cooler ect ect... The car came WITHOUT a BOV from the factory and was fine without one untill I added my list of goodies... Since adding the bigger turbo it seems to make a huge Whoosh coming off the accelerator as all the air goes through the custom airbox/pod. It also feels slower coming onto boost between gears.. The car is putting out 204RWKW and the tune is almost perfect so it has nothing to do with leaning out or anything silly like that. Sounds like a need to recirc some of that air... I know what I am doing with mechanical/electrical stuff most of the time and I reprogrammed my EPROM myself, Fitted the turbo and all other bits myself and built my water meth kit myself so I am not a silly teenage dirtbag... So... my questions are Will a R32 or R33 standard BOV handle 14PSI? or should I get another aftermarket Recirc BOV. My space is limited as there is about 12" inches between the turbo and the throttle body. Also I have a water/meth kit installed and I don't want the BOV to Recirc Methanol and Water thru my turbo so it will have to plumb in before the mist nozzle giving me a total of about 6" to work with. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Garage Cleanout...
CEF11E replied to Prospector's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
the turbo in the photo is an RB25 turbo. off a series 1 R33. its not an RB20 turbo. Cheers. -
wow that's going to release a lot of pressure in a hurry looking at those vents. Looks really nice and simple. I would love to make my own but i don't have a lathe. I wouldn't care if it cost me $200 to make one i love making my own stuff... I have done all my own mods on all my own cars. Big ups for all those that have made their own...

VG20det turbo in Excellent condition with omly 60,000k's and hasn't been boosted above 11psi The VG20det turbo is larger than an RB20 turbo but smaller than an RB25 turbo. It is a direct fit/swap for a VG30,RB20,RB25 turbo. And a perfect turbo to bolt onto an RB30e. It comes with Oil and waterlines, wastegate and elbow and is in excellent condition. Only selling due to upgrade... I have had it checked over and it has no shaft play and is very clean and looks almost new. Selling for $200. It made 154rwkw on my car @ 11 psi... (vg20det) auto without intercooler.

Thats Bullshit mate.... you can't use sand to port and polish your motor.. you can actually damage your engine doing this. ANY ONE READING THIS DO NOT TRY IT AS IT WILL DAMAGE YOUR ENGINE!!!!.... if your mate knew what he was talking about he would know you need to use a type of fortified wine commonly known as "PORT' for a propper job, you mix it 50/50 with petrol when you fill up. It's expensive but its how the pro's do it... Not reccomended on the street as it adds lost of those octaine's and increases how much pounds you are running. My mate runs 10s in his VL with stock turbo and 93pounds boost and 8" exhaust

Vg20det Turbo + Oil,water Lines And Bolts :)
CEF11E replied to CEF11E's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
bumpy.... Also have a brandnew pair of front struts for a R31 skyline, KYB's ordered them for my car and they don't fit. Cost me $350 sell $250 they are brandnew unopened in box!! -
I have just upgraded my turbo and no longer need this turbo. It is the original turbo from my car, a nissan gloria with a VG20det engine. The VG20det is a plain bearing turbo with a ceramic turbine and a steel compressor. it is larger than a RB20 turbo but smaller than a RB25 turbo. and spools up about the same as an rb25 turbo. Currently it is fitted to my car and puts out 154rwkw at 12psi with no intercooler. It only has 63,000k's on it and has been on stock boost untill 6 months ago and has been on 11~12psi since. The turbo is in excellet condition and is a direct bolt on fit for an RB20 or RB25. It is still on the car so if you are quick and in the ACT you can see it running. I haven't got any photos of it yet as it is still on the car but can take some as soon as it's off the car. probably this weekend... It comes with an actuator, oil and water lines and all bolts needed to fit it. I can also supply an RB20 actuator and an elbow if you need at no extra charge... $200 It would suit someone in need for a cheap replacement turbo or someone selling their car and returning it back to stock. Cheers!

My electronic knowlege is limited but i have built a Jaycar DFA and EBC kit without any problems. I am looking for any advice as to where I can buy an eprom burner in australia. silicon chip programmer here I was thinking of buying this kit but i would prefer to but a pre built programmer if possible. so if you know of one please post its info in the thread below. Does anyone in canberra burn eproms? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

How Do I Tell What My Spring Rates Are?
CEF11E replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
SK would you mind doing my springs, Front: Coil OD = 145 mm top Coil OD = 186 MM Bottom Wire OD = 14 mm # of Coils = 4.5 turns Rear: Coil OD = 145 mm Wire OD = 15 mm # of Coils = 6.125 turns Thankyou for your help -
seriously tho without cams and some serious head work, forged pistons and a full balance you are not going to get 400 hp from an rb20 little own 450... And even if you did any turbo you would buy wouldn't start building boost before 5000 rpm. the 2530 you mention is a great turbo for the rb20 but it will only produce 300 odd rwhp... with decent power curve.

you have a rb20det front wheel drive lol!

I have taken out Y31 strut and compared it to a R31 strut and I can say for cartain they DO NOT fit. The top hat is a different size and the holes dont line up. the brakes are different and the travel distance is 40 mm longer with the R31 strut. The inserts may however be the same as non airbag Y31s... My Y31 has springs insted of bags and one of my struts needs replacing. thats why I took it out and compared it with an R31 strut. the inserts are exactly the same travel distance and they fit into the base of the strut with the same screw type. But I still dont know if the top thread of the insert will fit on the Y31 tophat. If any one can confirm that. I would really appreciate it as i dont want the super hard ride of the JICs.
