Nissan Gloria Vip Turbo Trade For Non Turbo Import
CEF11E replied to CEF11E's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Just to add some info about the car as I have been getting a lot of PM's... The Gloria is a luxury car and is the same size as a Cefiro or Laurel. they have a big following in Japan and are drifted and pimped up just like cefiros There are 4 Glorias in Australia that I know of and are very cool cars. I get asked what it is every time I go to the petrol station. All the mechanicals are close to other nissan imports and are easy to come by. the Y32 Gloria came with a VQ30DET engine and its an easy swap into the Y31 chassis and is done in japan quite a lot. or the complete 300ZX drivetrain from a Z32TT is often swapped in. You will not find another turbo nissan import with the power, features and condition for this price and you get to be cool too -
Another Heartbreaking Got Defected Last Nite Story.
CEF11E replied to ODessA's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I sympathyse, I have a story almost the same. I was driving a freind home at 2pm o9n a tuesday doen Victoria road just before the bridge hedding to drymmoyne (spelling) when I see an RMT on the side of the road. I pulled over and a male com asked me if I had had anything to drink. I said no officer and blew and was tested ok. as soon as the results came up a female cop came up and asked me if I had an engineering certificate for my exhaust. (standard oval muffler with a chrome 4" tip. I said NO is a supprised voice and she told me to get out of the car as if I had weapons in the car. she then went over my completly stock (and i mean factory stock automatic no boost guage, no intercooler car) making notes as she went. She than asked me to pop the bonnett and started to point at the alternator and asked me what it was, I said "it is an alternator officer" is a semi smart voice. She then called another cop over and he had a look under the bonnet and tyres and ride height. I got slapped with Illegal ride height. the car has factory suspension and looks like a 4WD Fail noise polution. test. once again factory exhaust Illegal tint too dark. had this checked and it was within spec Illegal BOV. WTF!!!!! the car dosen't even have a BOV!!! Drivers window broken. this was true it would not go down properly. and was told I would get a fine and had 7 days to get the car repaired and cleared or rego would be cancelled. I fixed the window and took the car to an inspection station with the defect and the guy could not belive it. He asked me if I had put all the factory stuff back on and I told him it was defected exactly like it was there and then. He passed it and I got it sorted at the RTA. 3 weeks later I get a call saying I am going to have my car audited to confirm all the modifications have been repaired andwere legal. I fu*&n flipped. A week later an inspector came to my house and looked at the car and was really nice as soon as he saw it was completly stock. he passed it and even said he was sorry to put me thru all of this. It can happen to anyone. BTW the fine never came. END RANT... -
As Amaru said, Standard GTR injectors are 440cc and the ones you are looking at are 550cc. If you have a power FC no problemo but if u have factory management you car will be running hella rich. roughly 25% to rich! Infact it may not even run with those injectors on factory management.

Also direct feed the pump from the battery via a relay. do a search for direct feed bosch 040. And I have been told you can bend the return to the tank away from the pump to prevent cavitation. and also the bosch is a noisy bugger when at idle.

Both myself and a lot of others have used the standard foel hose with a high pressure fuel hose clamp over the thread. It works fine. It is not Ideal but will work properly. I looked for the threadded section and correct fitting and was quoted $96 and 2 weeks to get it in Also remember to install it in the tank about 7mm from the bottom of the tank otherwise you will get a rude suprise when u run out of fuel on 1/4 of a tank

Underbonnet temps would be great, so would intake temps. But Hello Lag also those exhausts look very restrictive.

Remapping An R32 Ecu Done And Done!
CEF11E replied to secondhandninja's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
220 is a realistic figure with an rb20 anything more and you start to make it a lagmonster because you will need a bigger turbo. remapping is only as good as the person doing it just like any ecu. The negative with a remap is every time you mod the car you need a new remap. so if you plan consistant mods get a power FC. Q45 is a big afm but it should work ok on the rb20. normally people use the Z32 afm as it is more than enough on the RB20. -
yep, I would take em if you were in Canberra too

Remapping An R32 Ecu Done And Done!
CEF11E replied to secondhandninja's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have also heard good things about Dr Drift. -
The quality of all the parts from elfin were fantastic. 100% good quality. everythink supplied by elfin fit properly it was all the custom stuff that cost a bomb and had to be done twice to get it right, and yes I nearly threw up the first time I went for a ride in it. First corner I thought I was going to die. but it handles nothing else.

I have been involved in the build of an Elfin with a 20V 4age turboed. Ended up costing almost 50k on the road. took twice as long as planned and ran into many little pitfalls. Having said that It was the fastest, best handling and most thrilling thing I have ever been in. There was lots of custom fabrication and headaches. If I was to build one myself I would get the most complete kit possible and just do the tuning, brakes and bodywork. It will end up costing less and you will have a more professional finished result. I plan on building one in a few years but wanted to use a quad throttle NA sr20 bored out to 2.2.

Vg30 Rear Housing On Gcg Rb25 Hiflow
CEF11E replied to tuitahi's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
tuithai, If it has 45V stamped on the exhaust housing it is not a VG30det rear housing. a VG30det rear housing has OP6 stamped on it. Have a look at the housing that is currently on your turbo and tell us what is stamped on the exhaust housing in the same place as the 45V on the housing that is not on the Turbo. I have had a rear housing that looked like that and it was from a plain bearing VG20det turbo. I know this dosen't really help you much. but that is not an VG30det rear housing but it is deffinatly bigger than your current rear housing. If you could cover up all the holes and measure the vulume of the housing by filling it with water and compare it to a VG30det housing that would give you a definitave answer. Cheers -
I am replacing shocks and springs in my car and have had to go with Jap coilovers because they are all that is available for my car. As it is I had to get them brought in from Japan. The car is a 1989 Y31 Nissan Gloria. It shares the same drivetrain as the Cima and Cedric. I have been to 2 suspension places and both of them have not really been a lot of help. Neither of them could supply me with rear subframe bushes. The subframe unlike a skyline or silvia has 2 anchor points insted of 4. and I don't have any experience with this sort of subframe. Has anyone replaced them or know where to get parts? I know it is a really odd request as this is a skyline forum but you guys are all I have there really arne't Gloria forums anywhere. Any help from the suspension gurus would be great. I can get mesurements and photos if it will help. Thanks!!!

you risk running lean on cyl 3 and 4. Really not a good Idea. I have seen an RB20 die with a cut n shut plenum. Don't do it.

After Installing Bosch 040 Fuel Pump...
CEF11E replied to CATKICKER's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have a simular issue. I installed a 040 intank and the stock reg was shitting itself because it couldn't handle the pressure. I installed a sard regulator and set it to 39psi base pressure. Now that is is in and all working if I crank it over from cold It takes 3 seconds to fire. If I wait on the ON position in the ignition the pump primes then stops and then I crank it over and it starts first go. I have it wired as diredt feed from the battery using a relay and the standard pump wire feeding the relay. ala Cubes style. The pump is a noisy bugger tho it gerbals and makes slushing noises when at idle. but performs very well. I kinda like the sound -
I found a good cheap boost controller for $22!!!
CEF11E replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
postwhores. lol! chill out people. I have a bit more to add on the topic of the boostcontroller. I have had it fitted to my car for over a year and have recently noticed I am getting boost spikes of about 3psi. I pulled the controller apart and have found the spring has developed fatiuge. it is slightly compressed in the last 2 coils. This could be a combination of heat as my controller is close to my turbo, mind you it is mounted to the strut tower so no closer than a lot of factory components. and secondly mechanical wear. I would advise to monitor your boost is you have been using one of these controllers for more than a year. Just for the record, I will be replacing the turbotech controller with another turbotech. as I still believe they are a fantastic product and cannot fault their performance. My new one will be mounted atleast a foot from the turbo -
Thanks for the advice guys cheers

Cheers Nik, When do u want to pick up your reg?
