  1. pics would be great, kinda good to see im not alone on this lol, its not in the car yet but its built and sitting on the engine stand at home, I was thinking alnong the same lines but getting a thick washer and trimming the washer to sit nice and flat around the hole, then get it welded to the bottom of the tensioner, i realize that after ive done this i wont be able to adjust the tensioner but it wont matter if i get it where i want it, then the adjustment can be made through the top tensioner, and yes it did take me ages to sleep last night with this going through my head
  2. ok well ive been looking into it more and found a few pics of rb30's rb25's and rb26's where there is a machined surface where the idler normally goes (where i want to mount my lower tensioner) but mine is not a machined flat surface, its got the hole with a thread in it for the idler, but yeh my engine has already gone together, any idea's on what i can use or do
  3. how do you guys who use two tensioners go about mounting the lower tensioner without it sitting at an angle, I was thinking fill up some weld on the block and make it smooth. the reason i want to use two tensioners is because with two tensioners you can have the right belt tension and not have either of the tensioners fould on the case without cutting into it. I was also thinking of cutting a notch into the base of the tensioner so it clears what im assuming to be an oil gallery but then it would site back a few mil, any input is appreciated
  4. its so the driver of the family car can gawk at the scenery as well as drive, its alot safer to not look at the road at 40 than it is at 60

  9. well one was a pintara, could have been an old r31, but this just goes to show it doesnt matter people are in high performance sports cars, or barina's they're still gunna do dumb shit
  10. i do it in the work car all the time , its easier to do if the sycro's are stuffed, and yes it does stuff the syncro's, but it is easier for the whole lot incuding the clutch if you rev match and use the clutch
  11. rb20/25 use 4.3 ltr of oil when you change the filter as well, i wasnt aware that the 26 was any different.
  12. how about using one of the walbro pumps i think they'd 180lph and would you run the return back to the surge tank or run it back to the fuel tank with a Y peice in there for the surge tank to overflow back to the fuel tank as well
  13. as said get it fabbed up in alloy pipes, will look neat as well and less worry about splitting the standard pipe down the track
  14. I saw a cop driving a soarer, had his uniform on, pretty sure he'd be on the way home from work though
  15. bit unreallated, but what do you guys do when the ring gaps are to big, i cant find file back rings anywhere my engine was on hold for 6 fkn months cause my engine builder couldnt find file back rings, these guys are pretty pedantic though, I work in the industry and email/called je/acl etc and the wholesalers and was told by all to just use the rings that were made for the 86.5 bore size that came with the pistons as i could find file back rings anywhere, as i was sick of waiting for over 1.5 yrs in total for this engine to be put together i told them to use the acl rings that came with the pistons just wanted to know what your guys take on it would be
  16. car looks awsome, fan of the clean look, raise it a bit though, will handle alot better, you can go to low and adversely affect the handling, buddy clubs are nice, ive got the N+ (think they are the same as the d1) in my 34 do the job really well with a few extra suspension goodies thrown in
  17. ive been given three hours once, yellow sticker, where do you live? right well 3hrs should be ample time for you to get home , my fault tyres were down to the canvas
  18. you can get them from anywhere go down to your local autobarn, just ask for a japanese made pump
  19. 33 gtst to 34 gtt yes, not gtr though, gtr gtst/gtt are different
  20. you shouldnt be able to feel any play what so ever on the input shaft (the shaft with the splines that goes through the clutch) if you have movment in that id say youve found your problem
  21. so you can get a full cage engineered as long as the car is rego'd as a 2 seater and the side intrusion bars are taken out when on the road
  22. sorry to hijack but do you know if they have a tig for making up cooler piping?
  23. i dont think you can get a full cage engineered for the road in nsw though?
