Have just read this thread, thought I would add my bit: Problem: Turbo failed Mods: T04 high flow turbo, hybrid 'cooler, pod, boost controller, safcII, 3" cat back exhaust Service history: Always serviced by dealership where car was bought (import specialist) Reason: Husband borrowed 'line to go to ulladulla. First time on high boost (13.7psi@252kw@rear), overtakes, and hears a very loud metallic clunking sound. Dealership organises for her to be towed back to canberra (wouldnt have made it back up the clyde). Long story short, turbo failed due to being overboosted@21 psi. I never moved the boost controller (non-electric) and neither did my husband. The b/c is right in front of the gear stick and stu holds it quite low, so will never know if he knocked it while changing gears. The turbo was replaced by another (not a T04) and she has never run better. We thought it might have been that the T04 was faulty 'cos there were a few failures until a company took over the importing and supposedly fixed the inherant problems. The turbo was sent to them for testing and they said that the turbo was not faulty, it failed simply from being overboosted. End result is that we have very reluctantly agreed to pay half of the new turbo ($1300). The labour and towing are not included in this cost, and they offered us this deal as we have spent a lot of money getting stuff done. however, she is running really well, albeit on much less power (either 234 or 242 kw@rear on high boost). Apologies for the long post.

0-100 times R33 vs Ford typhoon and V8s etc
skylinegal replied to benl1981's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
whether a ford or holden is faster than a skyline is irrelevant to me, I have a healthy respect for them. What it boils down to (for me anyway) is that I love my 'line like I have never loved any of my previous cars. Its the looks, the sheer passion of driving her, not to mention that sweet sexy whine of the turbo (mine sounds like a deep wolf whistle) and also the reactions I get from friends and strangers. That probably sounds kinda mushy, but owning a r33gtst for nearly 2 yrs has had a profound effect on me......I love my skyline.....for better or worse...hehehe -
my r33 gtst does something similar but when going at higher speeds (accelerating from about 110-120k and in 4th gear) It was happening regularly until had safcII installed, which seemed to fix it. It has done it twice just recently so next service I will get the mechanics to check it out again. It is quite a severe miss and feels like the car is kangaroo hopping, which is a bit scary when it happens.

Replacing head lights / head light covers.

I use meguires paint cleaner plus a bit of elbow grease and she comes up beautiful. -
i just saw captial auto trimmers in hume, to recover the stock r33 front seats alone in a two tone trim in good quality leather (his words) would set me back approx 2grand, he doesnt do steering wheels. Dunno if that is good or bad but it is the first place I have been to.

Richard: you could always rock up in the yella terra, wide body, kinda squarish like the '32, awesome note - ya reckon nobody would notice ??? hehehehe

I work very close to the 'budgie on a stick' at Russell offices and have just got off the phone to the afp guys in regards to this. basically there isnt a prob with us using the area for a photo shoot as long as no direct pics are taken of the buildings. Cos I asked, I am now the point of contact for this (if it even goes ahead) , if we do go ahead, I have to send off an email with a few basic details, such as time, day, approx nbrs etc etc. The corvette car club have been there before without a hassle, so we will be sweet too. Cheers, Kate.

me too -
spotted a hot yellow r34 parked in civic this morning, no wing, and a really cool front bar with vents on the sides, (well it looked like vents anyway) maybe this feature is standard on a 34?? in any case it looks hot......Also a white line on the monaro @noonish, nice body kit.....just came back from 2 weeks in the gold coast hinterland on a work course, only saw about 5 lines, but did see 1 line, 1 rx7 and a ute being closely scrutinised by the cops, the bonnets were up and they were crawling underneath as well. two of them were on the side of the highway, and the other was parked in Ronald Macdonalds car park.

ACT Charity Cruise, for Victims of Tragedy in SE Asia
skylinegal replied to cammaS15's topic in Australian Capital Territory
MIVEC: yeah, may as well go straight to the top, and yes Richard, make those infringement notices vanish too!! I am appearing in court in april to contest 3 of them! Another suggestion is the car parks at russell, central to all and we wont hold anyone up. I agree that it is a good idea to inform the cops. -
