  1. I also have had the rocker covers, timing cover and coil cover painted let me know what you think of the colour Sorry about the average pictures
  2. So now a full engine build is a go the list of parts as follows Ross Pistons Eagle Rods ACL race main bearings and big end bearings ARP head studs and main studs Tomei head gasket HKS step 1 camshafts Ported head with bronze/brass guides N1 oil pump with billet oil pump gears N1 water pump Tomie sump baffle with trap doors I purchased a Greddy plenum awhile back so throwing that on as well
  3. After removing the intake plenum and throttle bodies The cylinder head ports were also very wet with oil and on closer inspection they didn't have brass valve inserts The pistons on number 2 and 6 had massive pitting on the tops from destination The bearings were made of a really soft material and chunks were missing out of them they were a very soft material so soft the chunks that have come away had not damaged the crank
  4. So went a bit crazy at the start. Bought a RB30 block and crank, CP pistons, spool rods ect but really forgot what I wanted out of the build High reving twin turbo the 2.6L engine had that ability and I was about to throw a 3L at it I really want to do a 26/30 build however now was not the time first I needed to get the car on the road and experience what the RB26 could do I picked up a low km rb26 engine which was running only 6 months before. It had some good bits in it Poncams, eagle rods and CP pistons Picked up some -5 twin turbos and a vipec ECU Planned on dropping it in and getting it licensed. But after a few interesting conversations some invaluable information was given to me which I'm glad I followed through with I went ahead and pulled the sump off and check all the bearings Well I'm glad I did
  5. To say I had bitten off more than I could chew would be an understatement
  6. After a bit of thought I realized that a GTST wouldn't cut it. I already had a big hp RWD car It was time to find a GTR Introducing the new project 1995 R33 GTR Vspec purchased as a roller off a bloke off the forums Matt Haines
  7. I then purchased a R33 GTST as a rolling shell off a friend at work This car came with everything bar a engine me and my girlfriend at the time sourced a RB25 motor and began the build We ended up running a T04 turbo and it made a mild 460rwhp on United P100 We had a heap of fun with this car at power cruise events and cruising but the bug had bitten hard I wanted more power but the car had massive traction issues as it was
  8. Gday Gents First time creating a build thread here and very green with the Nissan product A bit of history and my back ground in cars has weighed heavily with Fords I own a FPV F6 Typhoon since 2008 this car didn't stay stock for long. It has gone through a number of transitions over its life to be a very reliable tuff street car 730rwhp or 540rwkw
  9. Hey mate great build so far Are you going to be selling the pipe kit and filters for you old setup?
  10. Sorry GTSgirl
  11. http://www.rsgear.com/products/transmissions/tranzilla.aspx Triple cone synco's are the best you can get for a synco box
  12. Thanks for the input guy's Would someone be able to give me some information on the getrag gearboxes? What sort of power and torque are they rated to? What type of synco setup do they have in them? Are they single double or triple synco setups? Are they brass, silicone or other material? The issue with OS88, Albins or Hollinger is the high level of maintenance associated with them the OS88 is recommended to be pulled down at least once a year Unsure about the others however I remember seeing similar times for the Holinger I don’t know anyone who is daily driving a Holinger or OS88. I mean over 15,000km a year
  13. Hey guys and girls I have been looking into fitting a T56 6 speed manual gearbox or TR606 to my R33 GTR I have carried out allot of research I have found out RWD conversions are possible and have been done but no one has done a AWD conversion that I have been able to find. I think this could be a viable and cost effective option for people who are looking for a quiet street able gearbox which is capable of handling high HP. Now the cost for a setup like this could range from $6000 to $8000 that is a estimate at this stage the first unit would more than likely be more expensive but with more interest these costs could fall The T56 Magnum would probably be the gearbox of choice as it is the strongest syco box they do Able to withstand a massive 700 lb-ft. of torque while providing unbelievably crisp shifts, no other manual transmission on the planet offers as much combined strength, versatility, and general ease-of-use as the T-56 Magnum. Known in its original equipment form as the 'TR-6060', the Magnum is an aftermarket version of the same transmission found in many of today's most celebrated factory super cars – including the ZR1 Corvette and ACR Viper – giving you refinement where you want it and strength where it counts. Other positives about these gearboxes are gear sets PPG have dog configurations and sequential setups for the more hardcore drivers. I personally wouldn’t see the point all you would do is fit a PPG setup to the factory 5 speed. The bell housing is also allot larger this may offer GTR owners more clutch options more surface area and the possibility to run a nicer street able clutch (sprung centre) The biggest positive is retaining the 4WD and for me that the game changer. This isn't set in stone as yet, I am looking for advice and wisdom there is a huge amount of knowledge on this forum and would love to hear your thoughts and comments thanks for your time Frosty
