  1. Anyone who goes in an open clubman type car in a targa type event is crazy, the ban would be voluntary if sanity existed. When you think about it the safety requirements for circuit events are just on another level compared with gum trees flicking past a few meters away.
  2. Geez those Skyline on the skyline pics give me shivers, ace
  3. Rake helps the aero, providing of course it does not put aero aids such as wings out of alignment. High back particularly helps beneficial air flow under and out the back of the car.
  4. Get it now, thanks for the explanation. It seems some people get confused, I've heard the 'lower at the back' claim before concerning rake. And thought WTF
  5. Measuring and quoting comparable heights front to rear by the wheel gaps to the top of the guards is a bit off. Its usually and more accurately measured from under the body/chassis where a part is level with the ground front to rear eg sill panel. Thanks for asking the question SS8.
  6. The link to your site is not working. How many laps to each set, how much $ and why the boring brake killer National circuit?
  7. "superlight" for hard driving/track use. "lightweight" for normal street/track use. "heavyweight" for normal street use Is that right? Seems back to front eg "superlight" for normal street use?
  8. Wouldn't a single plate clutch be better than a multiple plate in regard to plate inertia? When changing gears there would be less inertia load on the syncros? A competitively priced multiple plate, not an expensive lightweight one. Also its easy to have a sprung center with a single plate, some multiple plate jobs have solid centers and thats it.
  9. So................ Pics?? In car video???
  10. A couple of race pics show the car kneeling over on the front outside. That could cause it to lift the inside rear. Normally I'd say it needs a heavier front ARB, perhaps heavier front springs or lighter rears.
  11. The Jetpilot dude will sell you QFM's. BTW tried the much hyped DS2500 once myself, not as good as Ultimates as far as taking punishment goes. Big dollar ripoffs.
  12. 56 around the Clubman circuit is a Porsche bashing time and well into Sports Sedan territory, great work. Are you going to test at Morgan Park? Some different to QR corners there may help setup? Anyway, best of luck in Nippon
  13. It does seem a bit pricey but there is a lot of attention to detail eg the metallic facing are from one particular maker and each one is checked for trueness. Apparently they are sometimes not quite straight. Then he uses those excellent Wurth locking washers, and so on..........
  14. Maybe URAS will state his commercial interest, if any, in this subject. I'm always interested in informed and unbiased opinion or criticism as I guess are most others. Its not clear to me exactly what Jantolis' problem is anyway. From my discussions with JB any road car clutch should have a sprung center even though this can be a weak point from a straight out performance aspect.
  15. Windscreen is a structural part of the car. Will polycarbonate perform as well as windscreen glass in that role?
  16. The first thing I would have done is remove the backing plates and then deflect air towards the rotors. Its all about getting rid of heat, make that a priority.
  17. What about this one, nice price http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/polpos.htm
  18. Good work and congratulations I would have thought that Morgan Park was a bit tight for a GTR sized car.
  19. Thanks BB, here is the Smartstrings link if anyone else is interested http://www.smartracing.net/alignment.htm
  20. Any links/ brand names/descriptions for these DIY alignment gauges? I see Maple on the white one above, who sells them?
  21. Overproduced, you don't get the feel and the atmosphere of speed.
  22. Plenty do the QR sprints but racing is a different matter. Firstly competing against big dollar cars, second the perception that your car will likely get run in to and damaged by someone shooting for sheep stations. Then there is the very popular Morgan Park sprint series, some of which is more interesting to watch than processional racing. And lots of fun to participate in.
  23. Yeh at the QR sprints very few seem to warm their brakes up at the start of the first lap, gives the transmission a chance to warm up a bit too if you take it easy for the first half lap or so.
  24. One GT35R with the big turbine housing, 1.0 something.
  25. Are incar cameras allowed? Because at the Datnats sprints they decided after the event had started that no incar cameras were allowed. Presumably it became a 'safety issue' but it was a bit rough on those who had travelled long distances for a once in a lifetime thing.
