pressure fixed. The oil was flowing throught the cooler first, and it was going the wrong way through the filter. Fixed it up and its back to normal. Although I did find that the hottest the oil got to on the cold side of the cooler was 30 degrees.

Ok. yeah I did that. Can anyone tell me how to bleed the system correctly please? I mean I have been running it for a few days with no dramas so I guess it's all good. But would be nice to check it out.
-
I get air bubbles from the bleed point, and at the radiator cap...well...I did for a while until it put all the air out... I still get air bubbles at the bleed point....but I don't know the right way to use it. Water pump is only ~6000 kms old too
-
Huh? Put the bottom hose onto the top of the engine? That would put water the wrong way around? Can you explain in more detail?
-
I am curious about the opposite - How cold is too cold? Curious at what point I need a thermostat on the oil cooler And where are you guys taking the measurement from?
-
Hey guys R32 GTST Had to replace radiator. I think I have an air lock What is the correct way to bleed the system? I think I should have replaced the thermostat aswell, cause the bottom hose doesnt get hot even after a 40 minute drive (i.e. I don't think it's flowing) All I have done is run the car till it was warm with the rad cap off. I also tried removing the bleed screw on the top of the engine/inlet. Am I supposed to do that hot or cold? While the car is running? When do I put the bolt back in? Any other ideas? I assume the bottom hose should get hot? How can I tell if it is passing coolant through or not? Also, where is the drain bolt on the head that I hear people talk about? I can't find it cheers Chris

HD SYSTEMS HS TYPE COILOVER question
eXc replied to boosted32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Ok, so is there any risk to damaging the shock due to the overheating issues/less oil etc ? Or will it just end up not performing as well while it is hot? Cheers Chris -
FYI the just Jap ones are not hydrolic, they are simply rubber inside...my mate bought one and was not impressed.

HD SYSTEMS HS TYPE COILOVER question
eXc replied to boosted32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sorry for the late reply, I have been away camping. So it does make a difference. How bigga difference will I notice; 1) on the street 2) on the track when I am not a great drifter. Are we talking after 5 laps it would need a 30 min cool down? or...? Will it damage the shock? or will it just not work as well while it is hot? How big are the stock 32 gtst's damper. Cheers Chris -
HD SYSTEMS HS TYPE COILOVER question
eXc replied to boosted32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hey all, I am just curious what difference the damper diameter makes. I have decided to go with coilovers with a high spring rate (sorry SK...) I was looking at the HD Systems coil overs as they have a good rep. The higher model costs an extra $500 ish and all you get is adjustable camber tops (who cares when you have a 32!) and a larger damper diameter, I think it is 55mm vs 46mm I am curious if the lower model are any good, and if they aren't cause of the damper size, what is a good size to have? If I had to go to the higher model I'd probably look at other brands as well (the $1300 price tag is the main pull for the HD Systems) I know a few with the higher model and they are happy with them. Cheers Chris -
yes. 19 row cooler + remote mount filter. Hooked up, engine->filter->cooler->engine. made it so the oil flow went into the outside of the filter, and leaves from the inside of the filter.

Front Upper Arm (r33,stagea)
eXc replied to T04GTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
so was that the problem? or are you having trouble getting them out? i had to get mine out with an air chisel (shop did it) -
Why not post it here for all to see?

yeah it took about an extra litre. oil levels are at full on the dip stick. anyone else have any ideas?

Hey Guys, I have had a pressure drop. I have started a different thread however. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=100408

Gday Guys, I installed an oil cooler over the weekend. And I have lost a lot of pressure. I mean it is the stock gauge, so it's probably not that accurate, but still. I used to run at about 3-4 normal driving and occasionally higher pressure when driving hard.Sat at around 2 when idling. It currently now runs 2-4 normally, and sits at JUST off 0 when Ideling. The wierd thing is first thing in the morning, it actually does run like it used to (around 4) and it continues to do that for the duration of my drive (2 mins or 1 hour) THEN, when I restart it, the pressure doesn't go above 3, maybe 4 tops. Seems wierd that it works fine until the engine is turned off, then back on? How concerned should I be? Cheers Chris

Mounting oil filter relocation high or low?

well, I did it the way I suggested and the car hasn't blown up yet, so I guess it will do -
Mounting oil filter relocation high or low?
eXc replied to Abo Bob's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Tommy, That makes sense, but unfortunately there is no markings on the kit. I am 99% sure I am doing it right. Does anyone want to confirm it for me? -
Mounting oil filter relocation high or low?

http://www.amsoil.com/bypassfilters/bypass_dia_600px.jpg This image says it should go from the outside to the outside, then inside to the cooler. I know the pic isn't exactly the same as my setup, but the oil flow should be the same? Is this correct? Cheers Chris -
Mounting oil filter relocation high or low?
eXc replied to Abo Bob's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I need to know where oil flows. When mouting a remote filter, which goes to the sump, and which goes from the pump? The filter has the inside (1.5mm guesstimate hole) and the outside. Should I be going; outside off engine --> outside on filter --> to cooler or inside off engine --> inside on filter --->Cooler -
yeah the longer hose and more oil I agree with. But the idea that a longer hose also would mean further for the pump to push the oil. I didn't think it would be a huge issue. Anyone else want to back up wrxhoon and my own thoughts? Kinking won't be an issue cause it's braided. Cheers Chris

Gday Guys I bought an Oil Cooler Kit as I am into drifting. I have mounted the cooler, all I need to do is run the lines. The kit came with all ends crimped. The lines they gave me are around twice the lenght they need to be. - Is there any reason I shouldn't just use them as is? - Will I lose pressure? - Will it put too much strain on the oil pump? - Does it hurt if I coil the excess hose? Car is a 32 gtst Thanks Chris

How do you find that suspension for drift? I am tossing up getting SK's reccomendation ( http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...9entry1768319 )or HD System coilovers (8kg springs or something like that) I use a R32 GTST 4 Door, silver. It's stock except exhuast, Lowered springs and FMIC/10psi It goes well cept the body roll. After driving my mates 180 with teins and 2 way diff I decided time to fix the suspension cause his car just went sideways naturally.
