Diggin up an old thread, but I did this today, thought I'd take some pics to save confusion for people that don't understand written tut's as well as pics... This is on a R32 GTST, but I can't see it being too different on other Skylines. Directions NOTE: If you want, loosen the handbrake off in the car first, this will give you more adjustment up there to make it easier later on. 1) Chock front wheels so car dont roll 2) take handbrake off (ie. as if you are going to go for a drive) 3) Jack rear of car 4) remove wheels 5) remove rubber plug (it's not in the photos..I already had it removed) 6) spin hub until you can see the gear to adjust (use a torch) but I am guessing all skylines would be in similar position to mine, so it's at about 5-6 o'clock 7) Stick a flat head screwdriver in the hole, use the hub as leverage to push the gear up or down to adjust. You will probably only need spin it a few times unless your handbrake is pretty much not working. 8) Use common sense, it's hard with the LSD, but you want the brakes just touching, then maybe back it off one click. 9) You did both wheels, didn't you? 10) put plug back in put wheel back on.... NOTE: If you decided to loosen the handbrake in the car, make sure you tighten it back up!! Happy days. Cheers Chris

I only do it in my garage. I reckon it looks kewl and chix love it (no really...I can't work it out, but they do) but I know too many people that are 'kind' enough to 'fix' the mirror up on your behalf, I havn't done it but i am guessing it would cause damage if someone ripped it back into place, honestly trying to help

Sorry, I will try to refrain from humour in the future.

would you pay a $500 deposit to test drive a car?
eXc replied to [D4RKS1D3]'s topic in General Automotive Discussion
Personally, I would assume it's a stolen car, and he's gonna run with the cash once I leave. I mean there are prolly ways around it (check license to the adress you are seeing the car at etc) -

What I did was I asked the owner to drive it hard (in a straight line, cause I don't trust people I don't know on corners!) So I knew it went all good. Then I drove it like miss daisy just to make sure I liked the general handling of the car. One thing I will be doing when I sell my car is going with them. And I will ask for their license, which I will be leaving at my house with a mate. Why? Well it means they wont be as tempted to speed since they dont have a license on them (bigger fine/points?) It's what every test ride (as in bikes) from a private sale has done. Since they wouldn't want to be doubled, or double you, you take their license so you hope they wont go too crazy. It also gives you a chance to get all their details. In case it is stolen while you are trying to sell it (maybe they are checking it out, and gonna come back that night) As for paying $500 - I would only do it if I considered it a deposit. Ie "yes i will buy it so long as it meets these things...." I would then ask the owner to be honest as to whether it would meet those things. Assuming he/she was confident it would mean I was gonna buy it...if they know it would fail....then they would say "no it wont meet that...so i guess you dont want a drive" -

http://www.maa.nsw.gov.au/greenslips13prices.htm That site is no good for skylines, but good for most 'normal' cars/bikes

Just thought I'd suggest something else. Mine had the same problem and it was just the seal in the boot....I don't know the names of things, but anyways... Remove carpet in boot See the tank access panel? Remove the cover, then remove the actual 'lid' to the tank. You will need to take the fuel lines off to do this...the above thread someone linked to tells you about it.http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=75374 It will have the fuel pump attached to it. Pull that out (it will drop fuel everywhere, so have a container ready to sit the pump etc in (it's about 1 foot long) You will see a rubber seal (o-ring) that seals between the tank and the 'lid'. Take that to a bearing shop (I had to go to about 3 before I found one that stocked one) and get a new one ($10 tops..I payed $5, but it was listed as $2, but their minumum sale point was $5...) *MAKES SURE YOU TELL THEM IT IS A FUEL SEAL, SO IT NEEDS TO BE FUEL SAFE* Nissan also have them, but they wanted $30. Apart from the driving around to get the seal, its a 20 minute job. For $5-10 I'd replace the seal to make sure it isn't that. Cheers Chris

easy to tell if it is without a cat. harder to tell if its gutted. but they do have defect stations (atleast in NSW) where they check things like that. not worth the risk for some stupid flames me thinks?
-
search. it has been covered before. I have asked, so search for threads started by me. i have answered about 5 times since i asked 6 months ago, so there are plenty of threads.
-
just remember that having the removed/gutted cat is illegal and a decent fine from EPA will be issued if you are caught ( I think it was $100,000 ??? it was something insane anways)
-
kewl. Well, when I reckon I can't drift cause of car rather than driver, I will lose it. Until then I will keep it
-
