Thanks for organising it Pete, it was great My first attempt at drift and I loved it, even if I did only clear one corner per lap on average. haha Don't spose anyone got pics of me, even if they are crap (silver 4 door 32) if so -> [email protected] I am curious to see the body roll/if I was even sideways. Have you organised another as yet? If so sign me up!

I back it out of garage, lock garage, then driveaway. So it idles for 1-2mins, then my road is a dirt road, so i sit in 2nd at 2000 up it (2-3 mins) then I take it easy until I reach the nearest town (5 mins) then after that I drive it however I want.

Hmmm. Maybe I should just get a cheap one, check it's accuracy/set the boost right on the dyno, then just watch it for spikes.
-
Well the reason I need a boost gauge are; 1) I am going to put in a mechanical boost controller. Without a guage, I might be running 30 psi (ok so slight exageration, but point is I wont know without one since the stock isnt overly accurate) 2) Once it is installed, and I have it set to the right level, it wont matter if it reads wrong as such, so long as i can see a spike. So I guess I can get a cheapy, get it set on a dyno, then just know when it spikes.

I searched and can't find much. Link me if it's been done before please. I have decided to up the boost in the near future, but on a budget, so I was going to get a boost gauge, and I just bought a boost controller for $35 in this thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...155#post1427155 I want a boost gauge so I can watch it doesnt spike. I was going to go electronic but I thought I'd get a gauge for $150 so this puts this all under $200. Much better than $600 for a EBC. However it seems I may have been mislead. There is much debate about the different gauges. What is your opinion and why (provide links if you have read reviews) on the following gauges. Autometer (Was under impression they had a good rep, but seems I was wrong) Splitfire (Hear they are crap) Sepco (A few have said they are good, most said crap) Greddy/Trust (As expected, all good reports) HKS (havn't found anything) VDO (found 1 post saying they are good) Apexi (some say they are good, some say not. Any others? I am trying to work out what to buy, but if I am paying $300 for a gauge, I'll pay $600 for an EBC with the gauge and bonus features. Cheers Chris

I will get photos of mine and my mates (180sx) to show where we mounted them. I would have liked to mount mine where his is, but couldnt due to the r32 floor shape.

oh BTW, I don't have an air con, I just leave a window down and usually that is enough to keep it clear (getting it clear not so easy)

Next week in NSW...we should start a warning thread

Ok, So Whitline have model Front 73175, rear 70191. This lowers by 25-40mm....isn't this going to be the same as what I have? Anyone know if HKS springs have it marked on them and where, what model or height they are? Maybe my bushes are shagged and that is causing the huge neg camber, not the hieght?

I found a good cheap boost controller for $22!!!
eXc replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Received mine today, won't get it installed till next week tho. I need to get a boost gauge first. -
You want it in reach of the driver. What good is it in the boot? I put mine to the right of the passengers right leg, on the wall leading up to the stereo console area.
-
air con on cold will clear it up quickest. But as above, if you it's too cold for you, use heat.
-
Pfft that's nothing. My mate just bought a 9 second 180sx, it's stock except exhaust, boost controller and clear tail lights. On street tyres of course! Fortuantely he doesnt claim it does 9's, just the previous owner.

I don't have a roll cage tho!! But I'll bring some ratchet straps to hold him in BRING ON THE RAIN!!!

Pete, I can't see there being a problem, but is there any probs with not having rear seat installed for you drift day? What about passenger seat? I may need to take these out to fit my wheels in. Although I'd like to keep the passenger seat since you'll have a guy that can give advice there Cheers Chris

I lost the PDF. I deleted the whole directory by accident, so i lost the pics, pdf, word doc, and the Forum code I wrote. If I can find who got the pdf i might be able to get it back

I must be an idiot, but when I tried I couldnt do it. I did check that first.

So that would mean, based on your standard height measurement. I wouldn't want more than 20mm lower due to the 380mm normal minus 10mm settling...anymore than 20mm will result in going below 350mm you are recomending. Correct? How much wil me going to 20mm lower or standard hieght effect the car? Is it likley to make it handle noticbly worse than it does now? What about once I put the castor/sway bars on? (remember it is at around 30-40mm lower than standard) I guess I am asking, what would be the best height for me to run? Should I just leave it and replace the bushes to fix the camber.
-
thanks mate. Another question. Any reason NOT to go to standard height? Did you just recommend standard height? What springs should I be going for? You obviously like whiteline. I'll have to see what sizes they have, as I am told the standard is 370 and 360 (is this right?) so I'd want 5mm lower at the most? I assume that you want to keep the front/rear/ balance the same as factory....or do I want to try to level it out?
-
SK, Yeah the reason I say is current considerartions; 1) Camber. Wheels are wearing. Gotta fix this or cost of tyres is crazy. 2) Height. I think off memory hub-gaurd hieght is 340 front, 330 rear. Car is illegal by about 3mm.If I lost any points on my license in the next 2 years, I lose my license (and thus my job) 3) Body Roll Now, I would assume that 1 and 2 go hand in hand. If I fix all the camber up now, then raise it 2 months away, i'll have to readjust camber. Perhaps I need to raise it. $330 to get 4 new standard height king springs (their other option is 30mm lower, which puts the car where it is now. So it would make more sense to raise it. Then re-assess the camber. Maybe it will fix it. In which case I can afford sway bars. I think the body roll comes a distant 3rd considering my budget. SK- I am gonna search, but havnt found it in the past, is there a thread that lists the 'best' height/rates to go to when getting aftermarket spirngs? I will have to find out, get this done, then see how the camber is. What do you think?

is it still kids movie or they gone back to the original 'horror' type

Well my thread got hijacked didnt it ? haha It's all good, it's all info I wanted anyways:) I have too many things that 'need' to be done, and it may be pointless doing one without the other
