Adjustable Camber (Not Bushes)
eXc replied to eXc's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks guys. SK I don't think it's too low, It's one of the highest I have seen! haha. I will measure it tonight tho. So you don't think I'd be better off getting adjustable arms over bushes? I thoguth it would just allow more options later down the track. -
Hey Guys, I couldn't find a thread with the info, Probably cause I don't know the terminology, so feel free to link me if it has been discussed. I need to get my camber adjusted both front and rear. Using bushes from whiteline etc are only going to get it *just*right with not much(any?) room for changing it more so. I was thinking if I am gonna spend the money, I would be better getting adjustable arms (if they exist for 32's) instead of bushes. My car - 89 R32 GTST 4dr, it is standard except when it got here from Japan, I found it had HKS springs (lower) which puts hige negative camber on it. So, my questions 1) Do they exist? 2) What is the correct term for them so I can search for them. 3) How much adjustment do they allow? 4) What are the brand names that sell them? 5) Where do I get them? Thanks Chris Current Settings Front -------- camber = left = -2.08 right = -1.49 Castor = left 5.06 right 6.17 Toe = 0 ------ Rear ------- Camber = left -2.29 right -1.49 Toe = left 0 right -0.8 out

Camber Kit Only? Or Full Setup?
eXc replied to eXc's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks SK. It's a fair way out then. I'll have to check out the whitline products again, I might need to run 2 lots of bushes! Has anyone had experience with Pedders products? Do I use them, or should I buy noltec/whiteline and just have someone install/setup? Cheers Chris -
Camber Kit Only? Or Full Setup?

BUMP Can anyone tell me what settings I should be aiming for? -
Double clutching is the way to go if you need to get it in 1st while moving more than walking pace.

Camber Kit Only? Or Full Setup?
eXc replied to eXc's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hey again guys, I got another reading today from pedders. This is what it came out with. Front -------- camber = left = -2.08 right = -1.49 Castor = left 5.06 right 6.17 Toe = 0 ------ Rear ------- Camber = left -2.29 right -1.49 Toe = left 0 right -0.8 out What they are reccomeneding is Front Camber Adjusters (bushes) $195 Castor Adjusters (bushes) $121 Rear Camber Adjusters (bushes) $245 Labour $215 + $60 wheel alignment Comments advice please? Can you get control rods as opposed to bushes so I get more control over the settings? Or are bushes the go? Cheers Chris -
Camber Kit Only? Or Full Setup?
eXc replied to eXc's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Duncan - Ahhh now it makes sense, thanks. So a camber kit for a 32 is just bushes then? Is there any reason to go, say, Whiteline over noltec over whatever is the cheapest available? How difficult are the to adjust? -
send it to ACA!!!

Camber Kit Only? Or Full Setup?
eXc replied to eXc's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
SK, You said the "rear generally needs at least one camber kit (plus the standard adjusters)" So there is standard adjusters? The workshop nor myself could see any adjusters? I didn't post up the alignment settings as I didn't get a copy of them. I forgot to ask I'll have to go get it done again. So the camber bushes are adjustable? Does anyone have a link to a site that shows me how all this works? I havn't had anything to do with suspension really. The camber tops makes sense to me, but I don't understand the bushes being adjustable? Thanks Chris -
Camber Kit Only? Or Full Setup?

Just looking at those kits I said KCA347 for rear ($132ex) KCA336 for front ($290ex) They are for 90-93 R32 GTS GTS-4 GTR I would assume they would fit an 89? Nothing changed did it? -
awww I never seen it. anyone got a direct link to the video (i.e no porn so it can stay on here)

Hey guys, I recently bought my r32 4dr gtst. They have lowered it (HKS springs) and as a result it has huge negative camber resulting in huge tyre wear on the inner edge. So I need to correct this. I have taken it to a tyre place and they confirmed that a toe in/out will not help, it needs a camber adjustment. I was looking at the Whiteline camber adjustment kits - KCA347 for rear ($132ex) and KCA336 for front ($290ex) So I am looking at around $500 to get this setup. Is this the best solution for me? Would I be better off looking at some second hand (or cheap new)coil overs with adjustable camber tops? Or don't they exist for skylines? My main purpose for the car is street (not racing...just 'normal' fast driving I guess you'd say) However I do plan to get into drift and have a go, if I go well at it, I will more seriously consider competing as opposed to just having a go. My main concern is the camber at the moment, as it is wearing the fronts noticbly after about 3000kms. The rears were no good when i got them, but they are clearly wearing the wrong way aswell. If I buy the whiteline camber kit, is it going to be a 'waste' later on if I get other things (coil overs/caster kit etc) or will it be something I'd want anyways? The other option is I get some standard springs and put them in until I decide if I am going to drift or not. Cheers Chris

Just thought I'd say the enka one I bought works great, used it yesty for the first time. I don't see why you would want the bigger one.

Changed Gearbox Oil -> Lost speedo
eXc replied to eXc's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sorry about taking so long, I have been sick all week. Ok, I have the numbers off the box. rp71c I found what I assume is the speedo cable, comes out just in front of where the gearstick comes down, runs up to the firewall, under a black cover (on the firewall) i don't see how me changing the oil could effect the speedo - the cable is nowhere near the filler hole. But what are the electic cables that are locaded on the opposite side of the filler hole? Maybe I bumped whatever is inside the box? So what order should I check things in? Cheers Chris -
Hey guys, I am thinking of making my own body kit, so I want heaps of ideas and influences. Post up pics of your fav kits please! *Any* car is fine, as I'm after a unique style. If I see something I will like I will adapt it to my car with my own influence. Ideally I will be going for something aggressive looking, and not too outrageous 'ricer' However the more I see the more I can adapt. I don't really want this to turn into 10 pages of text, and 4 pics, so try to keep chat to a minimum so we get to see everyone's favs easily Cheers Chris

Searching - Allow 3 letter words
eXc replied to eXc's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
That works...kewl Maybe someone should write that into the code for ppl that search for 3 letters....cause ATM it tells u no results, which sux... -
Hey Guys, How bout allowing 3 letter words to be searched? When you search for a 3 letter word, it doesn't tell you that you can't search, it just says no items found, but there definatly is cases where the 3 letter word is all over the place! I am sure you can see why we need 3 letter word search...we have sooo many abreviations down to 3 letters like WOT/TPS/AAC/ etc etc then ofcourse there are models like GTR etc Just an idea. Cheers Chris

Pictures removed. Sorry Guys, I couldn't leave them on my server and FunkyMonkey didn't get back to me about hosting them on SAU

The small one was $13, the large was $23. I got it from "Auto1" not sure if it is a generic parts store in other areas or not? (I am in Newcastle NSW) It's a orange bottle, so it's pretty obvious. The Enka and Oates are the same thing. I got the impression from this thread they were different, but Oates is the brand and enka-fill must be the model or something.
-
found them!! So what size do I want? haha I bought the small one (37x43?cm) should I have got the big one? (50x50 or something) They only had one type - original or something. I havn't opened it so I could go excange for bigger one

sweet thanks guys I'll see if I can find someone that sells the enka ones
