  1. Great pics, keep em coming
  2. Great pics, really shows the culture of the country in many ways. I was there for 7 years (in Tokyo) from 04 but stupidly didn't get a quality camera for years and so don't have as many of these kind of photos, and certainly not high res, so great to see. Huis ten bosch we finally got to 3 years ago and that was really fun because it was half empty. Also they had an octoberfest event on with few people there so I got piss-drunk on fancy booze and had the oompa band all to myself. We stayed in the that mammoth hotel near the entrance (4th pic) Space world as another half empty but enjoyable addition to out trip down south. Mostly just school groups and half the coasters were closed, no doubt due to the low numbers. Don't be surprised if this park closes in the not too distant future, but weirdly fun to go to. Keep em coming
  3. So I have the obligatory boost guage installed and since yesterday Ive noticed it will turn on and off randomly and fairly frequently too. Its not even under any load/specific driving conditions either; it could be when driving or when stuck in traffic. Its the electrics that are cutting in and out (as it will go through its stupid start up dance) so Im wondering do we think the whole guage unit is stuffed, or will it likely be something to do with the wiring/install. If so what specifically could cause this to happen? Also, I do have a number of electronic devices hard wired in (and to turn on with the ACC switch) but it seems like 1 or 2 have failed (for a while now). Ideas? If it is fuses, what should I do to stop it shorting again? This will be the weekends investigation I think thanks
  4. Had heaps of fun yesterday and even more so as my R33 was mechanically up to the challenge finally. Thanks to Tony, the other organisers and volunteers for a great day
  5. Signed up and paid! Cant wait
  6. I've since spoken with The Wheel Deal and I think I just caught them on an off-day the one time I used them. I would be willing to give them another shot in the future as they do seem a good business to deal with.
  7. drag day would be fun; I haven't done that for about a decade. The last hill climb was great too
  8. Ha, yeah! They gave me the o'l "printer is out of ink" excuse the first time. The pedders guy just laughed when I told him about that
  9. In reply to R31Nismoid - Tyrepower north Melbourne, and before that, the wheel deal. Both have disappointed for various reasons. The former, where I just took it, did happily look at it again when I called after finding out that a few arms/points weren't tightened. But then ultimately after the "fix" I didn't get the spec print out after numerous promises and excuses. When I took it to pedders they showed me that the caster was so out that he could fit two fingers between the wheel and the arch on one side and a whole hand width on the other! He said, to quote "I haven't seen caster this extreme on a car that wasn't involved in a crash". Then to top it off I got a reply back finally from tyrepower with some spec numbers that were all balanced and rosy, and nothing like the crazy specs/caster that pedders, only 1 day later, showed me that they had done. How stupid did they think I was? I got pedders to fix it all and were very happy with their service and advice.
  10. I ended up going the 740 Nismo to keep it stock looking (which it does very well). Chequered Tuning did the tune and so far Im very happy with it. Drives better than before around town and manages the power well too. No problems
  11. This is high school all over again ?
  12. Hi All, Hoping to get some info on something ive noticed recently. When driving from around 50kph and above, I appear to be getting a pulsing sound from the exhaust (revs around 2-3000rpm). Its not from the engine itself, as revs and power delivery are normal, its more of an annoying pulsing sound that sounds shit, to be honest. For reference my car is modified and for airflow its - sports panel air filter, aftermarket dump pipe, nismo front pipe, high flow cat, 3 inch customer exhaust ending with a VT muffler, which has a flap that opens fully on high acceleration. Has this happened to you? any ideas?
  13. Yeah, until the day it stops working and then I'm f**ked
  14. Having had YET ANOTHER poor quality alignment I've come to the conclusion that I wont be trusting any more shops that make the bulk of their money from selling tires. Who would have thought such a straight forward process, that of aligning a car, could be f**ked up by so many shops. Whether its not understanding my cars adjustable suspension, poor service or simply setting it up wrong/inproperly I cant believe its been so hard to get this right over the past few years. Ive since changed to a Pedders where the manager used to own an R33 and they seem to know all about suspension, as that's all they do. I think ill be going to a place like this, or perhaps a shop that sets up suspension for track/race cars in future as so many shops seem to simply not be able to do this properly.
  15. took it out from the boot and took apart as much as I could. Then cleaned the grease out, cleaned it and regreased. While I could get it turning half the time, I've reinstalled it and it hasn't fixed it. Still stuffed. Im thinking Ill have to buy a replacement unit, annoyingly.
  16. Would love to go, but car mechanically cant make it. Next time Gadget!
  17. The latest. After getting screwed around initially with the alignment by shop A, I took it to Pedders who were able to see that Shop A had aligned my car with caster settings of 3 and 10 to get it straight. Quite different from the 6 each side I asked for. Pedders then showed me that it looks like the LCA bushes may be stuffed (as are the steering rack ones, they saw) as there was clearly something wrong from 1 side to the other there. I will investigate over the weekend, and its booked in with them for further investigation.
  18. How did you find out it was the spindle?
  19. Ahh, so the bearing which would attatch at the top of the knuckle? Thats a pain if its the problem. Would that be one which a shop would have to press out, same as a wheel bearing?
  20. And while im at it front brake rotors and pads in vg condition and caliper seals etc changed/ rebuilt 20,000k ago
  21. What is an upper spindle bearing? Oh and front left wheel bearing was replaced recently
  22. Hi all need some help. Car is r33 with many aftermarket arms/ suspension bits and tires are mid way through their life. I just got an allignment also. When i brake from mid to high speed with mid to high force i get very noticable shaking from the front. What, specifically, could be the cause of this? Ie exactly what parts/conditions could cause this? Thanks
  23. Warning to others; don't play with the valet lever if the key wont unlock the boot. I did this and for about 10 mins I was freaking as I was locked out of my boot. The incar lever doesn't unlock it in that situation and the key, as we know, wasn't working. Luckily after enough trying the key unlocked it. Phew! I guess I will have to try take the lock out and clean/pull apart this weekend. One more thing to fix grrr
  24. Can someone explain the valet lock a bit further? I can see a lever down within the locking mech. Should that be up or down to be fully open?
  25. I'm sure I'm not the first to have this happen, but I couldn't find any info or it. Simply, I'm having trouble unlocking the boot. When I put the key in and attempt to turn, almost always now it wont unlock. As in it wont turn the 90 degrees and unlock. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks
