Fuel hose leak:is it common on R33s? So I was under the back of the car on the weekend and saw this staining on the tank which makes me think I have some kind of leak. Just wanna know, has this happened to you? Is it literally degraded fuel lines which need replacing? or not? What size, how much length should I replace? etc I have noticed fuel economy is poorer than I expect it should be and I suspect its related. Thanks

Did anything come from the suggestion of a drag day earlier?

OK, jokes aside, they leak. Specifically it seems to be if I'm driving around or, as was the case last weekend, fanging around a motorkhana track I will see afterwards the tall-tale water stains on the bonnet. They still function and spray as normal, and no, its not me bumping the level as I hang wicked sidewayz (or whatever the kids are calling it now). This happen to you? Any ideas what part is failing on me? and how to fix? Thanks

SAU Vic MotorKhana #3 2016 - open to everyone!!!
ausdrift replied to Tony Olsson's topic in Archived Events
Thanks to the organisers for another great day! Happy for the smaller turn out so I could get more runs in, but at the same time hope for a bigger field next time for the continued success of these events. Well run, no issues, so thanks again to the organisers and volunteers; it doesn't happen without you guys/gals And Emts - Thanks for shooting the vids; much appreciated! Looking forward to seeing times posted up too -
For the record, I did end up buying one. It only needed a very minor modification to fit and seems to work fine. Looks nice and shiny too

ausdrift replied to kingtube69's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Great DIY and pics. So loose soldering joints was the cause? -
Yeah, it lists at 12V, 90 amps

Ha! I thought this was going to be about attending rehab while in Japan. Ive been to both, although before I owned a Skyline so it didn't mean as much as it would now.... I would have bought more junk from the shop for one. Good pics though

I'm thinking of changing my alternator out as the car is 20 years old now and the chances of it screwing me on the side of a road somewhere increase as the years do. I found a very well priced option from circuit sports in the US (available through www.frsport.com or search circuit sports) which is around USD$185 plus shipping (sorry cant post the link, my browser is playing up) but Im unsure as to whether this is worth it or not. Does anyone have experience with this brand's alternator (or infact this brands products)? whats the quality and fit like? thanks

And yes I rose this thread from the dead, but it has useful info if you are going to do this work

Did this today as I replaced my master and slave cylinders. I already have a braided line so I only needed to bleed master and slave. I was fairly anxious about getting this right and went back and forth bled both until I was satisfied. I found it was easier and I had more control bleeding the slave by myself by pushing in the fork as it allowed my to do it slower and therefore see exactly the condition of fluid coming out. I did have an issue with the pedal only half responding in its normal way when I thought I was done, so I just got under and re-bled it all until I actually got all the air out and the clutch responded as normal. Went for a test drive and everything works really well now, so am happy with getting this done.

I intend to enter but have half a dozen issues to fix before I can commit. Fingers crossed

Took it back to the tuner, he checked everything, all came up ok. He also did an idle reset of the power FC so it learned the idle again and we thought the problem was fixed, but as I went to drive home it happened again. It at least all seems less bad than initially was but the reason is a mystery. He did note that my intake gasket is leaking so Im going to change that out; who knows, it might in some way help too....

Agreed, an interesting collection of pics for sure

I never really missed Japanese TV as so much of it was shite. I've seen some really good stuff on occasion, so its good to know what options are worth a look in.

Drivers Side Tweeter Intermittantly Working
ausdrift replied to ausdrift's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Ok, so ive swapped over crossovers to test and it appears thats where the problem is coming from. Does anyone know what exactly could be failing? How to fix? Are there car audio places that repair these or am i up for new units? Cheers -
HI All, Not such an active part of SAU, but fingers crossed. I bought some High-end Focal splits overseas which were ex-demo and at a price too good to refuse. After f-ing months of work I have installed them into the skyline and they work and sound really great too. For the most part. What I've found, though, is that the tweeter on the drivers side will sometimes not work. I will only be hearing it from the left, but then I turn up the volume and both work. But its a bit random too, as sometimes adjusting the volume doesn't make it work, sometimes it works regardless and sometimes it will work/not work whenever it wants. Quite annoying as you could imagine. Now, its not the tweeter itself, as I swapped tweeters around right to left and it still does it. I've also used new (slightly thicker) wiring from the head unit out to the splits and have checked that everything is solidly connected/soldered, so I doubt it to be a connection issue. So what could it be?? thanks

Well, the latest. I removed the air regulator and was shocked to find..... It was clean. Very little residue at all, but I still fogged it with carby cleaner and reinstalled. Problem is still there, no surprise. Having run out of things I have the ability to check Ive decided Ill most likely take it to my tuner to diagnose. I also have a fuel economy problem so they can get both issues in one hit I think,

Nah, no wideband, never really looked into what they do. Is that something a tuner would be able to figure out and then tune for?
