  1. I can't see the point of having a switch for street and track... No matter where you are (except NT) whether you're doing 175kph or 185kph, you're still doing a bit over the limit ... It's not like your speed can sneak up on you that high :-) I have no speed limiter (and the wire 53 isn't cut - interesting, eh...)... As CMS Drifter said, just install a switch... Dick smith stock them, and they're pretty easy to fit :-)
  2. No way an auto-electrician is going to change my light bulbs :-) If necessary, I'll try to remove the air box..
  3. Hi, One of my parkers has died. I had a quick look to see how difficult it would be and it looks like a bitch of a job. There doesn't seem to be anything regarding how to change parkers on the forum... Has anyone done this before? It's a S1 GTS-T. The side in question is the same side as the turbo...
  4. So who here is going to dress up their skyline? I got some fooly sic plans for mine Gotta have some neons, paint jobs, chromies, stickers, and custom plates! Pretty simple to do it on the cheap and easy guys... Glow sticks for "neons" @ about $1 each - they're single use for about 8 hours, but can't be turned off however there's no need for wires... Stickers can be printed out and stuck to the car via fridge magnet... Chromies would be hard but perhaps you can get some chrome coloured hub caps, and loud BOV's can be recorded, burnt to CD's and played back at random times in your cd players :-) http://www.glowproductions.com.au/ Now guys, we all gotta do something to fit in with the theme... We all know it's probably going to be a crap movie, but that doesn't matter. I imagine most of you will be there for fun, so it should be even more fun if we all do the ricey thing.
  5. That sux dude... My bro did the exact same thing in one of my old cars... Except there wasn't any boost involved... Call me stupid, but there's something I want to clarify first... I've never been to a drive-in, so I've got no idea what the normal go is.. I assume they don't mind us cranking over our engines for a bit during the movie - for the sake of our batteries... I had to push start my skyline yesterday because I had the cd player on for a few hours (as well as a couple of other things) while doing some mods...
  6. As I said in the other thread, I'll be there...
  7. I will be attending :-) I might have a few people in the car... Does that count?
  8. You're from the eastern 'burbs? A mate and I will be travelling from the area in our skylines, if you want to join up... PM me if you're interested :-)
  9. Hi, I found 3 places that need looking: 1) In the engine bay, in the black box thingie. There are a couple of fuses there. 2) In the cabin, to the lower-right of the steering wheel, next to the bonnet release. There's one of the main fuse boxes there. A little piece of trim comes off there. That's the likely place. 3) In the boot. Remove the false wall towards the rear seats to expose the battery. There's a white box with fuses. It could be in there (but unlikely)
  10. Well, I'm from Bathurst and there's a lot of young guys in their utes... V8's with ariels all over the bull bar, driving lights on the roll bar, B&S stickers all over the back, and mud flaps that drag on the ground... Whenever I go back for any reason, I extract great enjoyment smacking them into the ground with the 'line Ah well, small things amuse small minds :-)
  11. As soon as I saw young and cool's policy, I wasn't even interested in getting a quote. I'm with justcars now, but will probably move to famous when my current insurance expires. Does anyone have any experience with making claims on a famous comprohensive policy?
  12. Dubbo, 'eh? Are there any skylines out there?
  13. You should have popped your bonnet and invited him to look for one
  14. Man, if 80 cars show up for this..... @_@;
  15. Don't forget a type-r sticker too.
  16. Ok, I'm in... I've been meaning to go to bathurst around then anyway... A mate of mine in Bathurst just got an r33, so he'll probably show up too.
  17. Can't make it sorry... I've been double booked that weekend.
  18. I'll be tagging along. My mate (in a 180) and I will probably meet at homebush. So add another 2 cars to the list :-)
  19. Ort to have a couple of cruise nights around la perouse then... See how quickly the cops flock back.
  20. Lol!! I try to avoid taxis at all costs... I don't know how many times I've turned a corner and had a taxi just screech up in the middle of the road for passengers.. You need to watch out for buses (and trucks), not because they're bad drivers, but because they have long vehicles (need extra lanes to turn), a lot of momentum (long time to stop), a lot of weight (slow acceleration), and buses do have right of way in Sydney - if they pull out and hit a car, it's the car's fault for not giving way. If you see a bus put it's indicators on, and you're not already half-way past him, stop for him and wait. Does anyone have problems with hire cars? I've noticed that most of them are ok, but you do get the foriegners who drive a little scarily
  21. Hi guys, Being new to mods, I wanted to nut out a bit of a mod plan and hopefully get the benefit of all your guys experience.. Anyway, my goals are fairly simple, but numbers don't really mean all that much to me, so I'm not chasing a specific power / time... - The ability to have 2 or 3 driving modes, with a button / switch to choose between. Engine needs to still be running. - Normal mode - fairly stock performance. Normal daily driving, nothing exciting, and I hope to have this as a fairly fuel efficient setting. - Fast mode - for when I need a bit of fun, a run at the lights, maybe a couple of track runs. More boost (maybe 14psi or something), more aggressive timing (or tuning or whatever), fuel efficiency isn't foremost on my mind. - Maybe (if possible to have a 3rd mode) a detuned mode for when more conservative driving is needed (wet, bad conditions, sister / father driving, etc) My car is a stock S1 R33 GTS-T. So, what I was thinking was (in order): - Wolf 3d ECU - supposed to have interchangable settings, etc. I should be able go get the 2 or 3 driving modes working almost straight away... Also the ability to change the boost with these settings might be possible too :-) - 3" exhaust. I would prefer quiet, even to the extent of sacrificing a bit of power. I don't want an exhaust because it makes the car sound loud. - FMIC + air filter - would CAI + pod be better, or a good panel filter still be OK? - Some sort of turbo upgrade... I would prefer as close to stock lag as possible, but it's gotta be running more PSI than the stock one can handle.. I hear a high-flow turbo would be good for this, and with a reasonable cost? Now, I don't like the ability to go faster if I can't stop faster, so somewhere in there I'd like to look at brakes and suspension. Probably pad upgrades all round, with slotted front rotors, and some sort of adjustable full suspension kit. These will all be incremental mods for when I get the time and money to do each. Anyway, have I missed anything out? Any comments? Or am I just making a newbie fool of myself? I think most of the mods are fairly standard... I guess I might be going overboard in some areas, like the ECU, but I like some of the features provided by it. Oh, another thing I'd also like is to keep the car looking / sounding as stock as possible. I don't want the uninvited attention of the boys in blue (and the guys in black), plus the idea of a sleeper skyline appeals to me :-) So, to that: - Is it feasable to have the muffler with twin exhausts, like stock, or is that sacrificing just too much power? - How quiet can an exhaust go before you're losing too much power? - Will a pod + CAI give enough extra power to warrant ditching the stock box with something like a K&N filter... What kind of extra noise does the pod + CAI produce? Induction noise is OK, as long as it's not too loud. - I have the optional enhanced front bar. If I put a FMIC in behind that, is it going to lose too much of it's efficiency if I don't chop out that bit in the middle (with the numberplate bracket)? Or is it possible to rig something up so I can keep that little bit (and disguise the FMIC to an extent). - Would it be better to go for 17" wheels with fatter rear tyres (probably at the expense of tyre quality to an extent - I'm not made of money), or will stock wheels with some nice rubber be fine (keeping in line with the stock look)? - How many of these mods will be illegal / need engineers certificate (in NSW)? And finally, does anyone want to donate a few grand to this good cause
  22. How strict is "stock"? Does it include body kits / wheels / seats / vinal gear boot, or just performance bits?
  23. There's a post on removing the wing off R33's... You should read it :-)
  24. Heh, I don't know... My speedo only goes up to 180 A bit over 200, but no acceleration in 5th - not enough road left. These private roads can be a little short, you know :-)
