  1. Lol do you even have an exhaust on there haha? Sounds like it has about 240kw to me, my car has 240kw and is similar in time to rev out, have a look. edit: actually it only dynod at 232 on one dyno, 240 on another.
  2. Is it hard to control the power with the right foot, all or nothing? Or you can still modulate it fairly well.
  3. Totally, just saying that it is possible though.
  4. Same, good learning experience taking engines out, building them etc. Does kind of drive home the point about do it once do it properly and paying someone for a top notch block all assembled though when things go wrong. Anyway I hope it works out for you, worst case you will be far more knowledgeable than when you started. I know taking engines out and playing mechanic was a great learning experience for myself.
  5. I haven't done it in about a year, sorry I don't remember the name of the place I used. I know mainlube do testing but I've never used them.
  6. High temp sealant is pretty amazing stuff, every leak I've put it on has fixed it. Of course if you can take the item off and do it properly I would recommend that though.
  7. If you don't want to pull it apart just spread high temp sealant on the outside, unless it is pissing out it will fix it. Looks a bit messy though.
  8. Good man, I hope it comes back with the all clear.
  9. You sending the oil off this week? It is important to get it tested, it can tell as much as a visual strip down inspection can.
  10. The veyron doesn't have a 5000km rebuild service interval so I'm guessing if you use the right parts, get the right person to assemble and tune it properly you will be fine?
  11. No they aren't legal, mainly because any turbo other than stock isn't legal without an emissions test.
  12. Assuming their cars are all in the same state of order, air leaks, restrictions etc could play havoc with it. Would want to use the map as a tuning guide of what SHOULD be capable at best.
  13. Just send the oil sample off asap, might be fine.
  14. You don't even own a skyline!
  15. Happens on this thread now http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/210351-nytskys-engine-build/page__st__1480 Has it been updated to 3.2?
  16. Does it still have the "stock sounding" exhaust then the two big ass screamer pipes? That would scare the crap out of people if you opened it up next to them on the road hah
  17. Get an oil analysis and find out what it is before you start it again. If it is something bad it is better to pull it down now before it gets worse.
  18. dyno alone could account for 20kw
  19. Boost has nothing to do with power, airflow has everything to do with power. If I put a straw as the intake on a car and hook a hair dryer up to it I bet I could generate about 30psi but the car wouldn't even idle. See what I mean? Too much boost down low means very very high combustion pressures which can cause detonation. More torque = more chance of detonation and detonation is bad.
  20. Sounds like you could really unleash its potential with E85 if it runs so much boost it has a tendency to ping down low.
  21. That is just heat soak killing performance by heating the intake charge. You won't notice heatsoak in the turbo etc, you will just be slowly removing your margin of error for detonation until it gets so hot you detonate, and you don't always hear detonation as well so be careful. I always advise people to do two tests, one is on a warm day eg 28c give the car a good flogging then immediately stop without cooling it down and idle around at 10kph for a good 10-15 minutes getting massive heat soak, then go rev out 3rd gear once again without cooling it down. If it is going to detonate due to intake temps it will do so then. The next test is to just do high load dyno run over and over again to get the turbo/manifold red hot. This will also usually cause detonation if you have a small turbo that really chokes up.
  22. Temperature is a function of boost remember so even if you get the smaller rear housing turbos as long as you don't try and push 25psi through them on the track on BP98 you will be fine. Ultimately setting up your ECU with coolant temp and intake temperature fuel and ignition trim is the ultimate way, even better if you can trim boost as well! That way you can tune it to run 25psi on the street and as soon as it starts to get hot on the track the ECU will automatically adjust to keep it safe.
  23. They wont give you one unless you lie and say you are moving house or need mechanical repairs etc.
  24. Air leaks are the worst one, you often can't hear them and they aren't bad enough to effect day to day driving, but on boost if they start wasting compressor flow will kill power. I wish more tuners would insist on doing a smoke test before tuning a car these days.
