  1. the ECU you select, be it stock ecu or powerfc should suit the head you are using as this will have all of the sensors, logic and controlling systems so yes, if you are using an rb25 head then use an rb25 powerfc this also allows you to use and retain VCT which is a good thing
  2. anyone got "airborne" or "gleaming the cube"
  3. i met with michael page today and the lady i met with was going to pass my details around and onto the telecommunications guys (i think nick & neil are in there too?) yeah pass my resume on if you dont mind, that would be ace, am interested in any roles at the moment, but certainly looking for a "good role" if that makes sense i spoke with Ed last week on the phone, he has been working at 3d networks for some time i worked along side him as 3d were the phone system vendor, he is a deployment engineer i also knew dan tryell as he was the ex-vivanet manager - that was a long time ago
  4. for more info check out; http://paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com/docs/...erfc-faq.htm#37
  5. as a quick test has the PFC been tuned properly? if it hasn't then no wonder you believe the stock ecu feels better well if it hasn't been tuned properly throw in some more ignition timing get the car warm use the temp IGN adjust on the hand controller add in +5 IGN timing and drive around watch knocking on the hand controller and load the car up keep it under 3 grand on full load and see how it goes (dont go past 3 grand, youll likely kill the engine, get a real tuner to do this on a dyno) if you get low levels of detonation (under say 20 ish) then this level is fine and you can deal with more timing basically just keep doing this until you get consistent levels of knocking around 20ish under load i did this on my std turbo GTST 33 and got massive response gains i was able to dial in about +12deg ign timing over the std maps this gives the car a massive boost in throttle response and makes the car nice and crisp as you can see with the stock ECU you have no hope of doing this also if you try out 100ron fuel such as Vpower Racing you can do the same procedure and add in even more timing ,again giving more power, response and throttle crispness
  6. the powerfc is only as good as the tuner or the owner who tunes it if you just plug it in its no different to the standard ECU its just maps and numbers, theres no "magic add power" function in the powerfc that being said, if you have some time to read and a good mind set you can do a lot of the tuning and adjustments yourself, saving time, $ and getting some gains from your investment youll also learn quite a bit which is good - and you can brag to your mates that you did some self tuning the powerfc faq in my sig covers everything you need to know with the powerfc it covers common topics such as fuel economy tuning adding more ignition timing for response and power common upgrades and changes such as airflow meters, injectors etc also covers debugging knocking and detonation and how to check for them the stock ecu is fine and once remapped will give you more power and resposne etc but all of the tune and information is locked away and you have no access to it so you dont know if things are good or bad, as you cant tell you also cant make adjustments (even minor) if you want to make changes or use different fuel (say 100ron) or change airflow meter etc
  7. the faq and diagram tells you exactly the cause and how to correct it you should do a wire trace and not assume wire colours when working on something like this the PFC FAQ should have everything you need to know

  9. thanks for the feedback and leads guys have taken onboard and made changes, also did some re-working of my roles Paul_Rivoli_Resume.pdf feel free to pass this onto your local HR / manager if you know of any possible roles
  10. how to enter the new injector sizes and select the z32 are covered in the PFC FAQ in my signature if you know the injector size and latency you can dial them in you can select the VG30 afm from the airflow menu this should be enough to get it to run and idle if you get it wrong or trash the pants off it = you'll risk the motor
  11. as i said in the previous post, i think you ignored it the factory ECU has a rev cut at 2500rpm if the AFM signal is toast or not present so either the AFM signal wire is still cut or perhaps its damaged / disconnected as a result, the ECU cannot detect airflow signal so it does a rev cut at 2500rpm to protect the engine until you restore the AFM signal, it wont rev past 2500rpm. so first things first, get your hack mechanic to do a wire trace and check where the AFM signal goes make sure it runs to the correct wire on the wiring loom, my website has RB25det wiring diagram so you can check the corresponding wire # if the wire is in tact and connected fine then i would suggest trying another stock ecu or checking for damaged / burnt tracks on the stock ecu
  12. unlikely so i would say no, read the PFC FAQ theres lots of topics covering knocking and how to test and deal with it
  13. thats the correct PFC and hand controller for your car FCC3 is generic multi version hand controller - it will work fine on ECR33 PFC
  14. hi gary i put the nismo one in my car, it just has more seem welds on it, nothing more really you would be by far better off getting yours welded yourself to make it craploads stronger i think its just 4 bolts against the main frame/firewall and the clutch cylinder vac thingy
  15. the std turbo will be on at 2800rpm and will make 200rwkw at 12psi
  16. it works but there are known gotcha's its covered in the powerfc faq in my signature, have a read
  17. hi, the stock turbo effiency is about 12psi, anythign else just adds more heat and risks the life of the turbocharger this is regardless of ecu you are using, be it stock, powerfc, motec etc the stock afm is fine for upto 250rwkw, upgrading it at 200rwkw gives you no benefit as the stock afm and z32 are the same physical size
  18. hi, if you have the std turbo, a z32 wont help and is a pointless upgrade you should read the powerfc faq in my sig and pay attention to the parts talking about knocking there is lots of information in there on how to correct and fix knocking. you should read all of those parts as you can fix the knocking yourself
  19. yeah its been done before, not sure where to look though it can also be done the other way, ie rb26 on vg30 engine
  20. thanks for the feedback, going to make some changes today and ill include some of the extra stuff mentioned - thanks
  21. the best model reference site i have found is; http://www.motortraders.net/imports/select...e&period=75 Nissan > Skyline > January 1996 to 1997 and it will list all the skylines during that build - which allows you check if the model is legit
  22. all the best pat have a good one
  23. hi, whilst on these events you should remember its not a race, but more a fun social event. you should drive to your ability and what you are comfortable with. everyone has a turbocharger and a car that makes turbo noises so theres no need to demonstrate that every second on the cruise. i wont be attending the cruise nor should i be preaching here how to drive on an event such as this but just keep in mind and stay safe. i have been on a personal event where someone has come into trouble and rolled their car, the person in question was in hospital for 3 months with neck and shoulder serious injuries so keep this in mind. if you feel like you are lagging behind or cant keep up just back off a little and let other guys pass, theres no harm or hard feelings etc. dont push it just to keep up with quicker cars or to be the hero. no one wants a cruise to end up where everyone stops and the police or tow truck are called cos someone came off and hit something etc. be safe and have fun
  24. if you have local powerfc tuners, then this would be a good choice
  25. as kris said its a computer controlled 4wd system its not like your typical land cruiser that has hi and low range gears and rear and 4wd options the GTR and GTS4 have a front diff and transfer case but its computer controlled and you can't just choose it etc basically its rear wheel drive, until you loose traction the GTR and GTS4 4wd system watch the speed sensors on the rear wheels, well actually they are the ABS sensors and once these wheels loose traction, thus they spin really fast, the speed of each wheel is faster but the vehicle speed is slow it uses this condition to detect "SLIP" and then it engages the front clutch to the transfer case, which engages the front diff the level of engagement is based on how hard the wheels are spining. it also looks at letaral G-sensors in the car and uses this to detect the car sliding or slipping around a corner, and if it detects this condition (lets say car sliding to the right out of a corner) then it will apply some power to the front diff to help gain traction. there is a latency delay between when the rear wheels slip, to the time the fronts will grip so its not a true "always-on" 4wd system some other GTR models such as the vspec have a faster 4wd computer so they latency or delay is less the GTR 4wd system is always on and you cant disable it, unless you pull the fuse out or the system has failed 4wd light on the dash will indicate this. vspec version has SLIP as well on the dash which will illuminate when the vspec system detects traction loss on the GTR in the centre console there will be a front torque gauge, this is in kgcm2 (torque) and it will increase when the car transfers power to the front so if you sit at the lights and bag it up, once the car fries the rear wheels and the computer activates the front clutch pack, the front torque guage will move upwards and power will come out the front wheels more other useless info; the gtr is a rear wheel drive car converted to front wheel drive the evo lancer and the subaru are a front wheel drive car converted to rear they basically have a central computer system, a front or centre diff and transfer a % of power to the front or rear on traction loss neither of them will transfer 100% to one drivetrain, nor where they designed to, ie you cant make the GTR move all power to the front or make the evo move all power to the front (without lots of hacking and driveline modifications anyway)
