  1. why so much boost? is it really necessary? thats a lot of pressure you are forcing through (and heating up)
  2. yeah thats more attributed to mechnical noise which is ok and acceptable but no car should be detonating/pre-igniting at idle
  3. whats the actual problem? the rev limit isnt a hardset cut, its a soft cut so its possible to bounce past it a little, ie if the rev limit is 7300rpm you can goto 7301rpm for example, probably up past 7600rpm if you bounce off it hard enough
  4. birthday happy wishing you all the best in your hang over from yesterday recovery have a good one - take it easy
  5. obviously in targa / race specs that talk about some level of restrictions that you must run under. i rememeber when they had the rx7s at bathurst for the 24hr endurance race they had to lock them down to set boost etc to keep the power to a 'agreed' level but boost is exactly that, fixed pressure in the manfiold based on the compressor flow, so if you run bla blah compressor you get blah airflow based on pressure and turbine speed. but did the targa specs/reg go into detail such as manifold setup, turbine changes, air intake setup etc? what about ecu changes, whats allowed here, what about wheel sizes? and diff gears?
  6. have a look at roy's rb20 setup, wont be cheap but will give you plently of midrange im not sure cams will help you
  7. im going to go with coilpack related either loose plug or something simple / obvious if the TPS is toast the ecu goes into retard mode and revs to 1500rpm and stays there
  8. it would be easier to swap the kit for the correct one or sell that one, then buy the correct one
  9. attack this -thread moved - pointless
  10. ok so wed - drive up and nothing - stay at wakefield thurs - wakefield - stay at wakefield fri - drive from wakefile to eastern creek - stay at wakefield fri - night drive to gundagai sat - gundagai to home
  11. it will depend on what USB dongle you are using, the actual brand or do you have the USB version of the datalogit cable ?
  12. hi, have a read of http://paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com/docs/...powerfc-faq.htm and pay attention to; Tuning Information 53). I always have knocking, is it true, is it lies or is something wrong? 54). How do I debug knocking, how can I make it go away? you can sort it out yourself if you like or learn more about it, to better understand the issue
  13. its the stock ecu doing its self protection as youve changed the cars airflow get a piggyback or stand alone ecu or even a remap and take out the factory r&r protection
  14. birthday happy have a good one
  15. ill try it but im not keen on $600 for nothing im on stock turbo still so might be useful for most avg guys using stock turbo and stock manifold the gains would only be more with a bigger turbo and an upgrade manifold are u sure porting it is the best cost effective way, surely i could just get a hks low cast off yahoo jp auctions for around that price
  16. sounds good & congrats, i remember the first time i drove my skyline, it was awesome & still is 4 years later make sure you get your insurance sorted in case of any issues
  17. pro free exhaust backpressure release i guess if you like the sound, then the sound cons major defect and epa violation (risk of big fine) exhaust gas / heat in the engine bay area (could be burning stuff etc)
  18. you should be able to do 450k's on a single tank i suggest you review how you drive (get your gf or mum to drive the car for a week, i bet they can do 450k's to a tank) your 02 sensor (they need to be replaced peridocially, if youve never done it, change it) your ecu & tune (cruise afrs make all the difference & make sure 02 feedback is on/supported)
  19. i dont see why you cant get 400k's to tank with 500rwkw its how you drive it on the street, if you load it up, its going to use fuel, simple really? if you drive normal, it won't waste fuel. this asumes you dont have stupidly large 2300cc injectors and your ecu supports 02 closed feedback and the cruise afr's have been tuned
  20. crap thats no good man, glad u are ok and got the car under control, could have been nasty sounds (and looks) like you guys had fun
  21. it shouldnt knock at idle
  22. so you can see there is little in common with the evo and normal lancer other than branding which is how mitsubishi intended it, production class, all the requirements and bolt on stuff you need
  23. evo 7 you could get for 30k reasonably evo 8's are around 40k for a reasonale model evo 7 - 33k http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=11032 evo 7 - 27k http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=11026 im still not sure on your angle. yes we all agree its a skyline forum but your acting like a knob, if you dont like the car then thats ok, you dont have to but going on that its a wog car or a little kids car makes no sense. yeah cos no skyline owners fit atmo bovs and bling bling wanker rims the purpose of the evo lancer, much like the wrx is a homogonated (spelling?) model so they can complete in rally competition the rules of rally state you must run a production class car and it must be a 2 litre so you build a rally car, make some changes to suit street spec and sell it. this allows you to run in rally class and make a few bucks to cover the R&D this is what subaru have done with the wrx (world rally experiment) and the evolution lancer, they both exist for rally purposes
  24. once again , i ask you, do you have a clue? not one person here has said to dress up an evo like a skyline so im not sure what your angle is a 9k lancer is basically a lancer with a body kit i think its missing the 4wd drivetrain, the brembo brakes, the interior, the chassis differences, engine differences, turbocharged and computer / mivec differences saying lancers are 4cyl weak is fine if thats what you believe, but check out the world rally classes, its locked to 2 litre which is where the evo and wrx come in so WEAK means nothing, other than you looking like a fool, go tell the ralliart team the torque they make at 2000rpm is WEAK, it will beat more than your skyline makes nothing @ top is all dependant on what you want to do and how much power you want, is 800hp enough?
