Factory Screen Question
WazR32GTSt replied to WazR32GTSt's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
hmmm interesting bobby.. seems like it might be an 05 and up kind of thing by the sounds of it.. -
wycky, the aftermarket "black box" or "hideaway" type of units (such as we are looking at here) are all designed to be used with and OEM screen. that was the reason for their inception in the first place. this includes units from garmin, blaupunkt, vdo, etc its just a matter of finding the one that has the interface and mapping that you like in regards to the factory aux inputs, well there is video, audio L and audio R so its completely normal in that regards if you want to plug it into the aux input if you want to wait for chris to finish developing his plug+play then you will find that you can plug it into the stock nav loom so that it is activated like the normal nav and your aux input is free for a dvd/tv etc this won't be too far away now..

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=10573 seems there's a GVN53 out now too.. doesn't look that different though from the spec sheet, only advantage over GVN52 seems to be XM and traffic stuff

Oils Aint Oils - Or Are They?
WazR32GTSt replied to gt-v35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
sh@un - this is the v35 section, thus "old turbo engines" isn't relevant here i recently did an oil change and used motul 8100 fully synthetic (5w40). car runs great no issues at all i also used a ryco oil filter part number z436 when i went to repco, they searched VQ35 and had a different part number listed for the z33 and v35, so naturally i got the v35 oil filter which was z436 also when changing oil, its very easy as the filter is right next to the sump nut! the only issue is that you have to remove approx 25 10mm bolts to take the underside cover off just to get to the sump! a small price to pay for awesome aerodynamics! -
cool.. let me know if my nissan consult cable can at all help you i'll happily lend it to you

thanks mate

hmm interesting.. i was a bit disappointed that the blaupunkt did not do 3d mapping as i mentioned via PM. i've gotten used to that style on my PDA version tomtom.. how do they compare cost wise, and in temrs of installation? easy for you to get your hands on chris? this website has an instaleld setup and it seems pretty good: http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/archive/ind...hp/t-74166.html i know you've already got the blaupunkt unit there, but i'm just thinking in terms of my setup as i've already got the reverse camera, and i don't need the extra AV inputs as i've already got the TV/DVD potentially sorted through the TV tuner AV input..
-
of course so yoiu mean just the information etc screens in english instread of japanese... very keen!
-
how does it compare to the blaupunkt unit, chris?
-
Hi, just wanted to ask question about the factory nav screen.. when the screen is down, and you start the car, does the screen automatically pop-up? mine does not but i remember reading somewhere that it does this for some people.. if someone's screen does this can they enlighten us as to the setting to change to get it do work? cheers, Warren
-
i think that was the unit that chris was looking at but ended up deciding on the blaupunkt..
-
true and they might even get it started for like half a second before it dies form no fuel so they would be scratching their heads thinking wtf?!? i have not done this myself but i know plenty that have done so jsut hide the switch somewhere discreet
-
so it sounds as though everyone is going the same style setup, but i imagine most are just going to plug it into the aux in on the TV tuner..
-
well i have the japanese navigation DVD with its case and it says XANAVI on it good luck with your enquiries
-
find the +12V wire to the fuel pump and install a switch in line with that wire then hide the switch and jsut flick it when you want to kill power to the fuel pump
-
the original is XANAVI plenty of people have already contacted them and they don't make any maps of australia essentially the nav component of the stock system is useless

V35 Sedan As A Family Car?
WazR32GTSt replied to ashlogan's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
that one looks like a great example ther ash and yes a manual sedan is quite rare. i don't see any brembo's in that picture, i think they only came on the coupe's?.. also, 2003+ sedans were series 2 versions with a different back, and that one is one of them - looks much nicer that one also has the "revesing pack" with front and rear cameras although that sedan is not equipped with the "premium pack" and does not have leather or auto headlights etc. it has been optioned in with the nav unit which is a god thing as you can re-use the screen.. also it has the optional sports bodykit - looks nice overall its priced very well with good kms, well worth a look closer i think personally -

http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2002/08/25/146245.html just one of manty reviews on the G35 sedan in america worth doing a search in google for "g35 sedan review" for a LOT of info on how it performs and where it sits in regards to its BMW, merc, and audi rivals -
hi, as chris was saying the japanese V35 350GT and american infiniti G35, although visually ismilar are not optionedthe same they don't have the TV tuner that we have in our cars thus they have no provision for an aux input as standard instead, they have satellite radio which is in its place (that's what's where our TV button it) the box you are talking of jumps in front of hte sat radio to give aux inputs according to the G35 wiring the V35 wiring is different, plus we already have an aux input on the TV tuner so we don't need that box! the only issue is that the aux input is in the boot rather than behind the dash..

he will make them to our sizes, its just that the set he sent was a set for the soarer whichhas much smaller buttons he has yet to make any for us, and was waiting on the outcome of this to determine if we wanted to go ahead, then he would cut them to the correct sizes and put the correct words on for us as far as the colour goes, i feel that if they were in a matt finish the colour would be right, i think its just the gloss that looks funny
-
ok i've uploaded two pictures of how it turned out, but let me first explain.. the soarer buttons arrived via express post and the seller has kindly given me this set to have a look at myself and see the quality i lined up the buttons and my first impressions were - the buttons are the set specifically for the soarer so as their buttons are all smaller, there were none that were of a size big enough to cover an entire button so i couldn't really get a full idea of it - the colour of the sticker was a gloss jet black, but the buttons we have aren't as strong in colour, more of a dark-grey-ish matt black so i cleaned the buttons and stuck on one of them to see how it looks note: this requires a set of tweasers to line up peroperly.. i did not line it up properly because i was in a rush. i also did not stick it down fully because i had intended on removing it immediately after and didn't want to it to leave residue the pictures show how it looks my impressions: - you can see the colour is a little darker - you can also see that its the wrong size. i believe that if it were the correct size it would look much better you wouldn't even see the edges - you can also see that i haven't stuck it down proerly and that it is on an angle - i think it looks good if it were able to be made in a matt finish so what does everyone think for $16 a set? i have measured out buttons and will give him the correct sizes... should i tell him: a) go ahead b) go ahead, but make the buttons a different colour c) go ahead but make the stickers a "matt" finish like the stock buttons d) don't bother we don't like them.. personally i think option "c" but i'll wait for a couple of opinions before i tell him exactly what we want cheers, Warren
