Are Skylines More Frugal Than S14s
WazR32GTSt replied to megabuff's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i'd take an S14a over any R32 or R33 gtst although i believe an R32 can look nice with a GTR front, i love hte look of hte S14a any day the R33 is the (very) ugly duckling of the skyline family, i would stay away the only issue with the S14 is that interior-wise its fairly plain, unlike the skylines my 2c? well my 2c if really only worth 1c but i'll give it anyway.. ...get an S14a -
the key is using an ORIGINAL gtr front bumper that is, it has to be PLASTIC and not fibreglass here's a pic of my old car with a GTR front bumper on a GTSt bonnet/guards etc:

Car Keeps Shutting Down Unexpectedly...
WazR32GTSt replied to Spunky Munky's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
yeah but hte issue isthat its working intermittantly and assuming that when it is working, that its working 1005 right, then its usually the contacts in the AFM which have come loose with time. its a very easy job to re-solder them in so they don't come loose again.. costs $nothing or just get a new AFM.. costs $100 for second hand, $500+ for new from Mr Nissan good luck, Warren -
hi Angelo, welcometo the forums i actually recieved 2 PM's in this last week from people asking about the V35 (i don't know why then asked me for advice via PM), but i thought i would post the exact response that i gave them it is by no means set in gold but hopefully a bit of a guide my best advice is to read this section of the forum and have a look at http://www.g35driver.com which has lots of info about he G35 in the states which is essentially a V35 in LHD here was my response to another guy via PM: reliability - engine is excellent, no issues. same engine as maxima, 350z, murano, etc if there are any problems the parts are easy to source locally - the major issues are a) the door locks and door windor motors that sometimes fail, b) the CD stacker sometimes fails so when you look at it, it's really minor things that are its issues. the engine nad gearbox are extremely durable devices gearbox - coupe's only come in 5sp auto and 6sp manual. no CVT in the coupe's. i haev the 5sp auto and its an amazing gearbox. drives much nicer than my old R32 which had a high-stall and shift kit - 5sp auto gearbox is from what i know identical to the 350z so again if it fails (not likely) then parts will be easy-ish to find locally TV and GPS - there is no solution to get those functions restored in the factory system or in english - the pop-up screen is still good as it has fuel ecomony functions, compass, average speed, etc. also, you can hook up an aux input and run a TV tuner or DVD player into he factory screen. there are a few threads onthis in the V35 section - there is also a GPS solution being worked on, again have a read and contact "Chris Rogers" for more info Suspension/Brakes/Wheels - standard suspension is AWESOME. it has VDC (stability control) and ABS and is a safe car that is amazing to drive. 350z springs bolt straight in and lower it approx 1inch for a cheap upgrade - if you get a 6sp manual version from 2003 - 2005 then it might also have the upgraded brembo brakes - wheels are standard 17", optional 18", and optional sport 19". the bigger the wheel the better in my opinion. i have th 18's and they look PIMPED but the 19's look even better and are a ray's forged wheel Interior - seriously this is hte reason i got a V35 over a BMW 330ci or Mercedes C320 or Mercedes CLK320 which were the other things i was looking at. - the interior is AMAZING. make sure you get the "premium pack" which included auto headlights, buttons on steering wheel, dual climate zone, bose stereo, and leather seats. all these parts can be optioned in separately from nissan in japan so make sure the cas has them all. its not worth paying 30k+ for a car that has nearly all the features. - i also have the reversing camera which is an amazing device i would not get one without it personally but again its up to you - the interior looks fantastic and holds up well. not a fan of hte willow coloured interiors but the back is great anyway - sunroof is a rare option and i believe worth having. i found it took too much headroom for me (i'm 6"4) but i would still have gotten one had i found it in the right car... if you're paying 35k then you've got to get something new with low kms. the V35 offers so much value for that price. its on par with i believe the 330ci, C320, CLK320, Lexus IS250, Lexus SC430, Audi TT. you will never find any of these cars at this price with the same kind of kms as you will get a 350GT for. and, the 350GT is significantly faster in a straight line and around the twisties remember to drive as many cars as you can! cheers, Warren

R35 Gtr - Dual Exhaust Myth & Spotted Cool Features
WazR32GTSt replied to R31 Gagz's topic in R35 GTR
maybe the vspec and/or nismo versions get a true dual system they can't put all the goodies in the base model gtr now can they -
replacing an rb25 AFM with a z32 AFM will not give you any power increase at all, if that's what you're thinking.. all it does is allows someone who has maxed out the airflow of their stock AFM to see just a little bit more airflow its not like upgrading a part for more power

that's an amazing looking car all the goodness of the R32 chassis, with all the goodness of the rb25! best of luck with the sale, mate!

The R35 Gt-r - Is It Part Of The Skyline Legacy?
WazR32GTSt replied to Spunky Munky's topic in R35 GTR
thanks, i'll take one actually i have some poo on my shoe.. yeah fair enough my views are biased, but i appreciate the change of the GTR. its been coming for a while. everything changes eventually as companies strive to offer new disngns with new technology. do people think nissan should be making R-series skylines forever? i'm already getting bored of the shape of hte R32 having previously owned one for only 5 years but the new GTR set in stone now, it cant be changed. what's to say that a bunch of forum users know better than nissan design engineers? a bit of discussion is healthy but it think its beginning to go overboard with complaining about no manual transmission and how they think it looks ugly.. i can almost feel someone wanting to start a petition for nissan to change the name of the GTR to include skyline gold..! and by this comment i understand that you understand where i am coming from in some ways if the thread started is a youngster, sorry mate.. don't despair i'm just one person with one opinion -
The R35 Gt-r - Is It Part Of The Skyline Legacy?
WazR32GTSt replied to Spunky Munky's topic in R35 GTR
^^ for the thread starter.. the skyline name continues in soprtscar form in the V35, V36.. see one in the flesh, then drive one and you will see the heritage and tradition continues in the form of the GTR i don't know why the angst over the new skylines. is it because they are not affordable anymore to the masses? is it because they are not modification-friendly to the 18yo tossers that like big BOV's and cannon mufflers? sometimes a little class and technology isn't a bad thing.. EDIT: this post may sound harsh but its the straw that broke the camel's back for me.. i'm sick of people crying over the look of hte new GTR, the fact that there's no manual with a clutch, etc. etc. -
Car Keeps Shutting Down Unexpectedly...
WazR32GTSt replied to Spunky Munky's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
sounds like classic AFM (air flow meter) failure to me.. do a search for "+solder +AFM" and you will see how to fix it alternative diagnoses could be ingitor failure and loose lead on the battery, but both less likely.. -

you can do a window motor "re-set" by holding down the re-set button on the motor and winding the window up for more info try g35driver.com as i have read about it but never really took it in fully

Rb20 In A 240sx, Wont Start
WazR32GTSt replied to laxian55's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
with a 240sx i'm guessing the USA... -
i wonder how the RB30DE cost would compare to just dropping in a new-ish VQ35DE?
-
that 300GT does look nice i have yet to see a 300GT in person with beige leather and sunroof
-
hey mark, reason for selling? do you have any actual pics of the PDA-phone you're selling? i have an O2 XDAII mini (essentially the I-mate JAM) and i love it, but its pretty smashed up now.. what's the lowest price you will go? cheers, Warren
-
their words are actually "This is at a small additional cost" its a very subjective comment, and they could argue that $3-4000 in the context of a $39,000 car is a relatively small cost. i would argue that it is a significant cost...
