you've admitted that a) you've upped the boost b) you've had a tune i appreciate that you have the graphs and at the end of hte day if your old cat didn;t enable to you tune it properly then its fair enough and as i said in post #7 "unless your cat is actually blocked or stuffed in some way" which is clearly what yours was if it was causing the car to detonate but i strongly believe for someone with a working cat of any brand, changing to a different one isn't going to do squat. obviously changing from a 1" cat to a 4" cat is going to but that's not what we're arguing here. we're arguing same diameter cats but one of a different brand with a slightly higher cfm rating.. yet to see solid proof in my 4 years having a skyline and browsing the forums i went from a 3" GUTTED cat to a 3" x-force and noticed NO difference in power whatsoever.

Changing From A Pod Filter To Hiflow Panel Filter?
WazR32GTSt replied to R33GOD's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
probably depends on teh quality of hte panel filter and whether or not you modify the standard airbox if you use a nice K&Nand route a second ram-air feed into the standard airbox then you'll probalby enjoy no power loss with the standard-ish setup -
dyno graphs? the flux capacitor i installed in my V35 made heaps more midrange but you'll have to take my word for it

Tiptronic: Diy Change Of Direction
WazR32GTSt replied to WazR32GTSt's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
here's a few pics of someone pulling hte centre console apart too.. seems that its very easy with no screws, just clips! http://g35ipod.com/installHW.php?skin=1&src=forum -
EDIT: ok this thread has had a total re-do now that i have actually done this so i read on the G35driver forums how much better it would be to have the tiptronic around hteother way, and i've got to say now that i totally agree! i have just switched it around and its infinately better! that is.. PULL BACK = next gear PUSH FORWARD = previous gear here's a DIY way to change the direction ofthe tiptronic in 15mins of less, for only $5, and that is totally reversible! the original thread that i thank for giving me the knowledge of which wires to find: http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122292 tools needed: - side cutters - plyers - 2*blade connectors - female - 2*blade connectors - male - electrical tape time needed: 15mins picture 1: pull the centre part of your dash off using info on these forums you will see a few wires which run around behind the gear selector and these are involved in the tiptronic switching locate the 2 wires which send the signal back to the ECU when the gear has been manually chagned the colours you are looking for are DARK GREEN and LIGHT GREY picture 2: another close-up of the wires in question. note that there is also a light green wire so don't get confused picture 3: cut these 2 wires and strip all 4 free ends picture 4: attach the male and female ends of the blade connectors using the pliers to hold the wires in place. you could probablhy solder them if you could be bothered picture 5: connect the wires the key here is that you want to swap the wires around so that the grey is now connecting with the green for both wires note that as you have used blade connectors, it is very easy to simply pull out the connector and put the configuration back to normal if you ever want to! picture 6: usign electrical tape, cover the exposed metal of the connectors and put the wires back into their normal position. you can hardly notice that anything is done! put your trim back in place test drive: amazing, simply amazing. its stuipd that it wasn't this way to start with. summary: this is a DIY that costs the price of a box of connectors and takes about 15mins to do. not only that, but it is completely reversible in the event that you change your mind! i'm going to get some custom stickers made up that have a " + " and " - " sign on them for completeness. they will be black like the P-R-N-D indicator on the other side of the shifter enjoy! cheers, Warren

Finally A New Car I Would Maybe Go Into Hock For
WazR32GTSt replied to Roy's topic in General Automotive Discussion
that's a horible interior! anyone know specs on it? -
an 80k NEW GTR?? shit, that's going to shake things up.. how much is a new 350z? no one is going to touch them when the GTR is that cheap unless they want a convertible
-
fine, but 100% of the upgrade came into the tuning of the car i'm sure you could have dialled more timing into the original system and still have seen a power increase that, and 10rwkw can be accountered for between days and intake temps. i'm not convinced.
-
what about just run a 1m hose from the outlet of your bov and tuck the open end of it somewhere nearthe intake then the cops see a bov, then they see that its connected to a long pipe back to somewhere near the intake they're not goign to go searchign for the spot at which it connects exactly i used to hide my boost controller by getting a 30cm long bit of pipe and cutting a hole in it. then i put that over the boost controller and tucked the 2 ends of the pipe into tight locations. for the lesser known person it would just look like some random hose in the engine bay

most of that info is from the other GTR thread.. see here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=3386353 and here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=3387340 and finally here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=3387706 edit: also here: http://rocketpunchautoblog.blogspot.com/20...e-who-cant.html

just some friendly advice.. if its not your car in the pic try to blank-outthe numberplates hell i'd be pissed if someone posted pics of my car with its number plates on it on the internet
-
not sure if it's been said but the V35 350GT has forward = up, back = down i can't see nissan changing their mind, although in hte V35 its as simple as changing over 2 plugs to reverse the system if you're that way inclined. i'd say the GTR would offer the same option for those in the electrical know-how
-
i think you will find not much (if any) difference between any cat on the market unless your cat is actually blocked or stuffed in some way then changing form one type of cat to anther will do absolutely nothing ..you may go slightly faster because the car is lighter from the loss of money in your wallet, that's about all..

advice is to not get a loan for a car how old are you? if you are young, ie a teenager, get a non-turbo car like an R31 if you are in your 20s then do what you like, but that's my advice on the world of skylines i know its not what you want to hear, but you could end up with something that needs major repairs in 2-3 months. my opinion is alwaysthat if you can't afford it then don't get it.. you asked for advice, so here's mine

If Skylines Were Never Invented
WazR32GTSt replied to shepo's topic in General Automotive Discussion
well i have a MA70 supra before my R32 so the natural progression would have been to go to a JZA-80 supra from there.. -
R34 - you sold it? did he want the spoiler? if not let me have it!

remember to drive them ALL there will be a massive variability in the mods/condition etc of every one you drive, that's what you get with modified imports and always drive the car twice on different days before you buy something is my other advice. make sure you get to the car when its been sitting there too, as in for its cold-start for one of the drives

New Here, To Start My Hunt For An 02 M35.
WazR32GTSt replied to Lil_Bobby_260's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
welcome the M35 looks amazing and inside it feels like a car worth twice its value (its very similar to the inside of a V35 and i have sat in many M35's) my advice is to take every one you can for a test drive. look in the usual spots listed below and take every one for a drive. see how you like it the engine is a 2.5L turbo and have more than enough grunt. try to find one with the 4wd and you're laughing the usual spots: www.carsales.com.au www.trading-post.com.au www.carpoint.com.au www.drive.com.au -
although if kevin dudd gets in then our dollar will drop to 70c no doubt and the prospect of a cheap import won't be as exciting
