  1. I know some people who have gone over the pits without them and have passed. I'd be looking to put it behind the wheel arch rather than on the front of it on the bar... there are some pretty schmick ones around the place - not too spensive either. a mate has stuck bmw side ones in - they look bling.
  2. really!? I figured you were older... like maybe 25/26? do you have to do compulsory service?
  3. 24. I think...??? Ive always thought that the age was very biased towards younger people. which is interesting considering the number of 33s in the mix - theyre affordable fun, but theyre still not super-cheap. Its not to say that I didnt think younger people would have fast cars, just that I thought that there would be a majority towards thirty, not twenty. I guess it's an interesting reflection on the changing mentality between the generations - with more thirty year olds tending towards the monaro/ss type markets and the younger people more willing to embrace different, or possibly better marketed, imports. I'd hate to think of us as a fast and the furious generation, but the tag might not be so far from the truth. I didnt buy my car after seeing either of those movies - but I know some (mostly sub 20yo) people who love them...and ultimately probably aspire to them. we might not like the analogy, but it's difficult to avoid. Id prefer to think of the movement towards jap imports by the early 20 somethings as a response to growing up watching the GTRs whoop everyone in the touring cars, then get banned cause they were too fast (and too expensive to compete against), rather than out of more recent street racer hype....
  4. yeah, but the lovely purple GTR purple would be very different to anything you could get out of a dial/light.
  5. these will not come in purple. they are after all EL - which I think rely upon incandescence, so they will be "irredescent blue" or "irredescent green". think glow in the dark stickers/stars. if you want purple, the best bet would be purple condoms, or the ones described in the beginning of this thread - but these will light the numbers only. I spose you could cut clear numbers out of purple plastic and have it purple during the day and glow purple numbers at night. though why on earth you would want purple on the inside of your car is beyond me....it'd look like one of those bloody martian hot4s wrxs. :vomit:
  6. why is it always spug-nut moron drivers that have no insurance. fuxxing raaANT!
  7. what else do I get wiv it?
  8. like any brand, they have varying spring rates and quality. from what I know they are very good value (ie relatively cheap for their quality) and are pretty good. the problem you may face is if (like niz???) you get the superlows (low bastard lovells) and run standard shocks, you may find them bouncy. guess it's the same with any brand. dont frig with the ride height too much unless you have a spring and damper combination which are tuned to each other.
  9. rules on the wing is that it cannot be outside the sillhouette of the vehicle. so if it's wider than the cabin at that height it's gotta come off.. aidwin's right on the seats. as long as one of them reclines you're fine... bummer about the 3 points....
  10. yeah, gauge looks pimp...albeit very very bright. reads about 10% high by my estimations.... my previous one (VDO - which, incidentally lagwagon also wrote off) was less responsive but probably more accurate. both the vdo and the dyno at SST read 9 psi, whereas this one reads about ten.... ...heck, for what I payed for it I'm not too fussed... down the track I'll get a spitfire one or something, but this is fine for the current application. still better that it's overconservative than underconservative...
  11. wow. 97k. jousting sticks.....!?!
  12. http://reallydodgy.org/~x/montage.wmv GT3 drifto shenanigans. (big file) credit to nutters from silvia WA.
  13. yep...me! jees, I though I was becoming an old baarstard. 79 was the year I was born!
  14. yeah, but you also got those at a ridiculously cheap price.
  15. I've said it before, Ive seen ant's R on the streets around my house many times, and his driving is pretty bloody responsible. I'm always impressed. I remember sitting behind a pack of yahoos in a bogadore who got shitty at him crawling along at 50 in a 50 zone.... ...but then maybe when you've got a car like that you've got nothing to prove anyways... on the issue of v8s vs imports, it's becoming a bit bloody passe. to carry on raving about them like theyre neoliths from a different planet is ultimately pretty counterproductive isnt it?
  16. sounds like drunk driver panic syndrome to me. ala that cop who killed two people in a head on a couple of years ago, then disapearred into the bush and when he sobered up stumbled out burns stylee claiming he was "disoriented". no shit.....you were driving down the wrong side of the road....
  17. yeah, I suspect that all the extra kms and the missing items were a result of the panel beaters in japan. after all, there was SFA I could do about it...and hey knew it!
  18. yay! found the problem with my car and have now sorted out what I thought was my blow-off valve but was actually a lost plug the the recirc pipe. phucked if I know what happenned to it....?!
  19. personal experience: had car broken into on wharf in japan - door locks ****ed, doors scratched. needed to get it on a boat - due to the old scheme expiring, and it was sent with no door locks or handles, but the wharf insurance covered the repairs. locks and handles posted to me from nissan. somewhere along the way, my car drove an extra 1000km. it had the drivers side floor mat, and gear knob (small but frustrating items) go missing, and the front right 1/4 panel graunched. on the upside, i found it had an obscure but expensive jap brand exhaust on it and an HKS AFR (budgo version of the afc). plus the rims on it which I thought were nice turned out to be VERY nice. oh, I also found the car had a bown gasket at the turbo. very expensive OR time consuming job to fix. this could have happenned in between buying the car and shipping it, but eh, I dunno. at the end of the day it was probably still worth it vs. buying a car from a yard here. would be even more so at the moment with the Aus vs. Yen. the fact is that, if you're like me, you will probably end up very frustrated and angry at the process and the waiting. just remember the savings and why you're going through it, otherwise you'll be over the car before it gets here. oh, yeah, having said that, once it's on the road and rolling, all the hassles that spanned over 4 months will roll away into about 10 seconds of memories and you'll love it.
  20. are these factory or adjustable? if they are adjustable I'll take em.
  21. head units as in radio-head units? Ive got a factory MD and tape player sitting at home. PM me if you're interested.
