  1. you got lucky. rip all that out and refit it with pioneer local gear and you are set. I would be looking for a satnav box as well. the extra screen on th dash is indicative that its there somewhere (and TOTALLY useless!) and remove that too.
  2. cookie, if its the rear one you have then it does not affect it. waz car has a rear one. I simply will not repeat that exercise due to the time it took. unit is under the passenger seat. you do not have to electrically disconnect teh seat so it gets a bit easier. if you do disconnect the seat be aware that you will set the airbag light when you turn the key on. if I get overwhelmed with requests I'll make up a plug in lead for it.
  3. note the time of posting too..
  4. this is NOT one for the faint hearted! you need: male and female 8pin plugs (jaycar) 32 core 18-20awg cable 2m of it 8core cable - 3m twin core shileded cable - 2m single core cable shielded - 2 m LOTS of heatshrink 6 hours of patience... nets this: starting: original harness with the new one sitting behind it - those are CAN lines that I'm adding 2m of cable to.. new spot for the OE unit note the black plug - 2m of extension lead there- no lead - no audio from external sources or anything else for that matter.. new 2m extension - one plug in place better than crimps or tape (and certainly better than the hack job on G35driver!!) OE nav done and tested in its final spot all done! (top gear FTW!!) ------------- anyone wanting this one done - find another person- I'm not doing another.
  5. exactly. for the conversion stuff - pm me.
  6. 1. if you want. I do something entirely different then in dash screens. 2. the car is quite easy to get a ticket in. 3. depends - ring a few of them that are listed on teh DOTARS webiste. in brisbane they are : ISASO,Shogun,NIZMO,SHAMOND. of those I recommend ISASO. I do the conversion work for that one. 4. you specify that when it ships. I would have a good read of teh DOTARS site www.dotars.gov.au and search for importing vehicles. a good broker will take care of most of this anyway.
  7. actually IF you import the car I can do most of the work needed at compliance IF it is put through one of the workshops that I service here in brisbane. the menus are in the process of translation the NAV WILL NOT work here (no maps) so that needs to be converted. TV is in an ENTIRELY different format so its a no go. (I'm fiddling with it but really do not expect a good result.) the rest of it is no problem. car is a great driver and if you buy a 6sp one get a second licence while you are at it. they are far from slow. the auto is quite good and intuitive.
  8. similar from what I can see. as I understand it regardless of engine, if its in another car that doesn't have compliance then its another test and another $5-6k for that test.
  9. they will clear in a 34 - JUST! sound deaden the doors while you are at it.
  10. nice attempted workaround- can't get the VQ25DET in so they try with a VQ35DE. still no dice though. I asked a similar question to the guys I do work for here.
  11. post your question in th main area and I'll try to help.
  12. i have a contact now in a jap dealership so if you wanted them I can try.
  13. true. though the later alpine ran a VERY similar cartridge.
  14. clarion. should be a le to take it to a clarion repairer . suspect laser and switches. est 2-300.
  15. clarion or apline. show me the main plug.
  16. got a pic of it. some of those were sanyo based.
  17. so you want to be a tigharse and cheap out of it. they have quoted roughly two hours to diagnose and fix your issues. I'd call that fair. RS is probably turned off . central locking will probably be an actuator.
  18. if you use the connector I have on hand it will plug straight in.
  19. find the ECU main feeds and clip those. the ECU usually grounds internally to the case that then bolts to the car..
  20. yep - tow truck drivers do read forums and some of them are a bit crooked
  21. depends on version. yes for most though you are still taking a big gamble if the 6cd is stuffed in the donor one.
  22. sorted. when I first got the call I went with what I usually do to these cars. specify a budget and I'll go from there and quite possible toss an extra or two in for nix. those that know me know WHY it takes a FULL day to do the cars
  23. video in motion- use them when off road of course.
  24. panel can be bought from me. need panel, AC controls (dual or single zone btw- button on dash will tell you.) and the interface if bose. clairfy that and I'll arrange one for you. the US radio fixes the FM channel problem but creates another - AM band is out a bit so it doesn't work.
  25. have them on hand now - ask for appliations - I have a few different ones
