Two.06l Update (twoogle)
Swiper the Fox replied to Swiper the Fox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
vacuum...what vacuum? I wasn't aware my engine produced vacuum. -
boost control...or lack of it will be holding you back. The small wastegate size in the rear housing simply cannot bypass enough exhaust gas out of the turbine. The HKS GT-RS turbines with their larger wastegate struggled to bypass and control boost above 25psi.

Torque Estimate For This Rb26 Engine Spec?

A clear line of communication between cruise organisers and police is a good thing. I always involve our police in planning cruises and have never had a problem. One cruise the police met us at our destination and chatted with us. We already had all our 'hoods popped' so they could have a look...all the cars were modified to some extent. No fines defects etc. Im currently in the early stages of orgainising a cruise where the Blood Bank 'donormobile' will meet us and we will all donate blood...im going to ask the coppers to attend and match us 'pint for pint' per person.

I Need A Tunable Ecu For My Rb26, Whats The Best ?
Swiper the Fox replied to 555kkk's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Trent, can you supply them to me at that price or can you tell me who you get them from...that is an incredible price mate. Are they G4 Storm's or G4 Extreme? The knock control function is a great feature as our circuit GTR that used to run a Power FC (now runs a Vi-PEC PnP) filled up with what was marked Synergy 8000 at the bowser. Shortly after leaving the servo the car started pinging its arse off. Dave rang me and asked what i thought, i said he may have filled up with incorrect fuel. On returning to the servo the manager told Dave that the tanker driver filled the Synergy tank with regular unleaded (but there was no warning on pumps and they were still charging Synergy price). If the engine was running cast pistons it may not have survived, but if knock control was available on the Power FC it would not have been an issue. The manager told Dave when they got Synergy back in he could have 2 free fills. My question was how many people were buying that fuel, were none the wiser and were getting ripped off by Mobil as well as potentially damaging their engine. -
They are visually the same...they even have the factory clip for the wiring...the part number will tell the story. If you bought this off Benm or Risking its a Nismo as i would have installed it.

Cam Pully Position Without Backing Plate
Swiper the Fox replied to =premo='s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
this way ^^^ ...make sure you correctly degree camshafts with a degree wheel, pointer and dial indicator if you have vernier cam gears. This will get them spot on...see my tutorial in the DIY section. -

Can Anyone Understand These Cam Spec Rb26
Swiper the Fox replied to wills01's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Looks to me like some stock camshafts...32mm base circle. The 1st number is the lobe height and the second number is the valve lift. -

MBS206.... tuners are always the best people to discuss the capabilities of any ecu. They are tuning these things daily and understand the advantages and disadvantages of each product. This is the reason i suggested Shane have a chat to the guys who are tuning the Vi-PEC but also have extensive experience on other brands of ecu. My experience with this ECU is mostly from feedback from the dealers and their customers and more recently hands on with my own car and Anthony's. My car has never ran as smooth as it does now with the V88. Both the Power FC and Autronic had issues controlling the engine, from cold start problems to stalling, misfiring and poor idle control. I have since learnt that even the Motec i was planning to instal would have been unable to make my car perform to its optimum. I used to actually dislike driving my car on the road as it was not a pleasant experience battling the ecu with throttle opening to keep the car running properly. OK my car is not your average skyline and is quite extreme but this is the sort of environment where products shortcomings will be exposed. I doubted the car would ever be a nice road car again but the way V88 runs the engine has made the car more appealing to grab the keys and take it for a run...and isnt that the reason we bought these cars in the 1st place. The forums are an information resource for us all, i have freely given R & D advice on here that has cost me thousands of dollars to obtain. Just like HKS turbo's, if i find outstanding results with certain products or modifications ill share it with people. Is that not why we come on here?....OK the performance of the Vi-PEC has floored me and revitalised my enthusiasm for my car and the skyline modification scene. Ive always said the best ECU is the one that your tuner is familiar with and runs your car to your satisfaction. Even in the Vi-PEC thread ive stated many times that 'this ecu is not for everyone' Ok Shane...the M800 has a 32bit processor...V88 has 40bit processor. Thats 1...shall we keep going? -
I use a G-tech pro rr...it comes with a handy software package and is very accurate if calibrated correctly. When at the track i weigh the car and enter the figure into the calibration...this is important to get it reading right.

I agree totally...the best ecu is one that your tuner is familiar with provided it will run the engine to your satisfaction. Running the Vi-PEC has saved me thousands of dollars as a fully optioned MoTeC was on my wish list. But knowing what i know now im glad i made the decision. Just trying to pass on some advice that may save somebody else the same amount of coin. Mark's keen to run one in his race car to try and run HKS down. Maybe that will persuade some people, I for one have never had my car running so smooth as it is now...massive cams, single throttle plenum, big turbo etc...i can reach inside the car when its cold, turn key and it fires into life and idles like a purring kitten. I could never have done that with the Power FC...even with low-mounts. If i hadn't experienced it myself i wouldn't have believed it...truely a great piece of kit, time will show that its as good as anything on the market, and in some instances better.
