  1. Stace says it was the plugs It only did it when we went for more boost and sounded awfully like ignition breakdown so im tending to agree with her. Disagreeing with Stace is not a smart practice.
  2. thanks sky...the result was only 2kw short of its best ever pump fuel figure. Considering how hard we used to push the pump fuel tunes its really impressive to almost top the figure given the limits set. the plugs were everyones favorite BCPR7ES's....we ran something colder with different style electrode...even they were not the optimum plug for the application.
  3. Where its at now...this tune is only set-up to run around town...im not interested in running the engine any harder on pump. Ive built this car run times as its main goal, to achieve this the engine will have to be reasonably stressed to make the power required. The ultra consistent (and ultra expensive) leaded fuel we will be using is the only petrol based product that is capable of supporting the power at a reduced risk of engine damage. To unnecessarily push the engine on an unleaded fuel is a waste of time and money. This is why we limited ourselves to the parameters Mark set when tuning it, i.e. 8500RPM 11.5AFR 24psi and 18deg. We actually tuned it under all these levels as they were advised as a maximum and not a target to reach. Mark will be coming down next month to perform a full race fuel tune and help prep the car for the upcoming Sport Compact drag event in Sydney. He seems to think around 35psi+ is where this turbo will see the real power made. We have the spray as a back-up if the power is not quite where we think it needs to be. We changed to a different style of plug today and did a few runs. It instantly made a 15KW gain and the engine actually netted an increase of 1psi in boost due to improved combustion. Nice 465KW to run around town on is enough to have fun with. Guilt-Toy has got some vids to post up...i forgot to grab a print of the curve before i left today...will grab one tomm.
  4. V-spec head is no different to a standard one.
  5. aww c'mon...lighten up...it was an attempt at humour...albeit a poor one. I was only trying to help out mate. Best of luck fixing it...or finding out whats wrong.
  6. I could have said HKS but the price of them is frightening with the ex-rate. Turbosmart are a local product and must be okay if guys running 6 second passes who need precise boost control are using them. My HKS GTII was the other way tonight Dave...we had trouble getting it to lower the boost. Turned out it was the Blitz EBC not doing what we wanted it too...so we switched it off and adjusted boost by increasing pre-load on the spring.
  7. did a nice safe tune for pump. The car was making 450KW or 600hp at around 21psi, a nice 11.5 AFR with the timing advanced 17degrees. The turbo makes full boost by 5500rpm with the external gate spring pressure only (no electronic boost control). Rev's were limited to 8500rpm, so with some race fuel, a leaner mixture, some more ignition advance, another 14psi of boost and some NOS...this things going to really move. Big thanks to the Guilt-Tripper for crunching the numbers into the Vi-PEC V88...a great job done mate.
  8. one word... Turbosmart
  9. lol i find inserting lit party sparklers into the plug holes works best
  10. just called a dealer and he has confirmed the Vi-PEC plug-in will run the auto.
  11. sorry that should have read the Morcom Searle BMW. 1st practice has him 4th fastest 1.9sec's off the pace.
  12. the GREEDY valve springs ate it.
  13. Same turbo, cams etc...the only thing i can see thats going to produce more power is a fresher engine and the valve upgrade. The rest of the list is to make the engine more durable. All the best with running new PB's with the new set-up.
  14. some pics of the Morris Searle BMW would be nice...Luke is a mate of mine. top shots as always Matt.
  15. i can look at it...im in Newcastle if you want to send it up.
  16. ill rev it to 9000 on pump...no more yet. Normally i like to see 9500rpm when racing with better fuel before i shift, as its still making power and good torque at that level. Still running a JUN oil pump...no external yet.
  17. yeah after he posted i realised i had you two mixed up.
  18. i need the console surround that goes around the gearstick and up around the centre gauges...can you help?
  19. its tomorrow right now in fiji and new zealand.
  20. finishing the tune tomorrow...will post results and T51-GT-RS overlays.
  21. Initial D 'night kids' black r32 is available in 1:18
  22. Trigger 1 and trigger 2 wires need to be reversed.
  23. have you tried spining the housing around on the core to locate it in a better posi?
  24. just ordered 1 carton (12 x 2 litres) of Motul 300V 'Le Mans' 20W 60 for $600...$50 for 2 litres = $225 per oil change...bargain! i was going to get a 60litre drum but initial outlay of $1300 delivered was a bit much in 1 hit.
