  1. RB26 Headgasket, OEM nissan item, brand new $50 rb25 MLS headgasket, 2nd hand used once in good cond $50 pm me
  2. i havent come across it either. im a mechanic and have changed my fair share of plugs. these were brand new and out of the box failed to work. im not sure how but i chucked some 2nd handies in that had been sitting in a pile of crap. blew em off with an air gun and boom, car runs on 6 all the way thro the rpm range.
  3. not really the word i'd use for it... more like waste of f**king time... so much dyno time wasted chasing issues... guess it comes down to never assume that just because a spark plug is new that it will spark correctly
  4. yeah did all the logging, not a single problem spotted, the miss counter shows a nice stable rpm. anyway the problem was found in the end. would you believe it was something as simple as sparkplugs. I had 6 brand new NGK plugs in there and 3 of them proved to be faulty in such a way they wouldnt spark correctly, irrespective of what coils used.
  5. vct doesnt make much of a difference for me.. its more like the lack of cams. stock cams is a bit of a let down but no at this stage i dont regret it. track day this monday will tell the story i guess
  6. will take a pic later. its down on power compared to before due to stock cams now
  7. not sure yet... tune is today so fingers crossed lol
  8. just visually comparing the spark difference its huge.. before with normal coil packs firing the spark was a bit ho hum.. now with MSD's you can hold a lead 20cm away from the chassis and it will jump the gap no worries... huge spark!
  9. i havent but trent (status) has.
  10. yeah but why is it occuring with splitfires and not OEM coils.
  11. spent this arvo mounting the MSD coils, wiring up the ignitor module, wiring the coils and cutting and crimping the MSD leads. all in all its time consuming work. i was fair stoked when it fired over first crank. the spark it produces is much stronger then anything ive seen from a splitfire or nissan coil.
  12. cant believe no one has concrete info on this.. haltech dont want to acknowledge a fault.. thing is im wondering if spitfires just cant handle running in wasted spark. got a new MSD set up now.. spark is huge at idle.. should be interesting to see how it goes now

  14. clutch issue and "rear Main seal" leak issue sorted. clutch was a bent puck on the disk.. pulled it out and couldn't see a thing wrong with it until i noticed that one of pucks had an unusual wear pattern on it.. laid it on its side and sure enough it was bent a bit. most likely a result of being posted to be in an air bag via express post.... bent it straight in the vice and eye checked it. the oil leak wasnt actually the rear main at all... so i was happy about that. it was the rear corner of the sump. for some reason it wasnt sealing well enough. didnt have much choice here since a sump off job is such a pain in the arse.. so i cleaned it up externally washed it with thinners and lathered it up with sikaflex... heres hoping!
  15. not all ecus are capeable of sequential spark. if the equipment is up to it there is no issues with wasted spark at all
  16. ignitor is easy. you can build your own if your good with electronics for $40 or buy one prebuilt for about $77
  17. these are cheap and better then AU packs. need 3 of them http://www.msdignition.com/Products/Coils/Stock_Replacement/8224_-_GM_Coil_Pack,_2_Tower_Style.aspx search the part number on ebay
  18. i agree.. needs way more sideways shots.. itching to drive her. SAU track day coming up then tas so heres hoping! some more pics.. Trailed fitted my old sideskirts and decided no f**king way am i running that mad automotive junk anymore.. plus they look silly with the front bar. so got some Origin aggressive skirts. they suit it a bit better thats for sure! then i got stuck into my car trailer.. i had a frame and tyre rack that was high up and plans to sheet it up. but i was never happy with having the rack so high up.. chews fuel on long trips when its fully loaded. So i chopped the frame up and mounted it low with a wind deflector that will get sheeted so the front end still gets protected a bit and should save fuel.
