  1. i beg to differ. if i stall it up at the drags etc, on two thirds throttle my pfc bounces on the limiter in second gear once or twice then slams into third. if i then plant my foot it will do the same in third and then try to change into overdrive. all without moving forward. why would it cancel the rev limiter on changes?
  2. would you be able to do a short write up and explain how do dial them in properly. im running poncams on a S1 rb25det head cheers heaps Darren
  3. yea but yours is almost N/A Joel pump some boost into her and see how she holds up!
  4. its the gt6041 isnt it Joel. should make for a nice shopping cart for the family.
  5. but the question still remains.. where is zero, or the standard point of reference? surely somone out there has dialed in there cams before!
  6. its called an external pump cause it doesnt come with a sock for the pickup. yet its very simple to install a sock from a v8 falcon and install as usuall
  7. yea that was bass junky but how does any one know where the true zero point of reference is? i have heard several people say theres is in the middle, yet i have heard others say it was to one side. so where is it supposed to be? sure dialing in your cams can be a little fiddly and time consuming to get it right but im sure its worth it in the long run.
  8. has any one ever had there intake cam gear slip, or adjusted it - / + zero?
  9. does anyone know how to work out were zero is on a r33 s1 vct cam gear? im not talking about normal cam timing i mean the adjustment behind the inlet gear. where is zero? Cheers Darren
  10. yep look in the pic at the tensioner. all the blotches of blue crap on the surface of the bearing is what was making the noise on idle with my car and i certainly didnt over tighten it. its just the belts are shit. why design a blue belt that doesnt stay blue?
  11. gates timing belts are crap. Do not use them... I installed one with the new idler/tensioner bearing's. after about a week i had this really weird noise at idle coming from the front end. after 6 months it was getting really annoying so i did the screw driver trick, and the most noise was coming from the cas. chucked a spare cas on and no change, so i removed the timing cover and instead of the blue gates belt i found a black gates belt. i was puzzled by this so i stripped the balancer, lower cover, etc off and found all the blue crap from the belt was now coating my new idler and tensioner pulley. the coating that they put on the outside of there belts is useless. removed both pulleys and hit them with the wire wheel on the cordless, and came up good as new. replaced with a genuine nissan belt and havent heard a single noise since. So the moral of the story is, stick with genuine. Cheers
  12. yea im more concerned as to why the power curve is so much lower. as i now have the poncams in, they should more then compensate for the high stall i would have thought
  13. back on topic. has anyone found there intake vct pulley had slipped or wasnt set at zero?
  14. to true but why would anyone buy them from nissan? surely everyone knows you can get the exact same bearings for less then half the cost from a local supplier. So hows the 10 sec auto 32 going Joel?
  15. yea the block and the head were both decked slightly and im running a genuine nissan head gasket. so it may be a little out, but if anything that would only be retarding the cams a half a degree maybe.
  16. do the results change if you pull of the afm ducting and leave the AFM open mouthed? open mouthed? its only 4:30 on new years eve and pauls allready vision impared.. as stated on page one. i replaced the 4 inch elbow from the turbo to the afm with stainless instead of silicone.
  17. SK reckon's they are best set at standard? but having adjutment will be handy so i will aquire one. "The cams will increase the engines airflow capacity without question if setup correctly, that is the good news" was there bad news coming?
  18. yea same dyno we overlapped the old tune and the new one but i didnt get a copy of it. new tune started off better then crossed the old tune about 4k ish then followed it up to redline but slowly lacking more and more power. old tune with standard cams
  19. no i havent used a dial gauge, just set them both at zero. i had the head apart when i did my full rebuild and all the standard springs where measured and were all in top nick. as the car from new hasnt done 50k yet. so i was thinking it wasnt the springs as the cams are designed for the standard valve train.
  20. has anyone had there inlet cam slip on the the vct? could this be a problem?
  21. old tune was with the stock convertor new tune was with the 3k high stall its the standard converter that they have gutted and replaced all the internals.
  22. Old tune had the q45 on it, i have just changed from a 4 inch silicone elbow to a 4 inch stainless elbow. AFR over 4k its 12 dropping down to 11.5 at 7300rpm
