  1. correct me if im wrong but thats not the new gt3040r-iw.
  2. how can i show you my map tracer? i had a look at it 10 min ago while my misses was driving. what would you like to know? as it changes gears the load axis stays the same it just drops the revs to suit the new gear. i will happily provide anything you require! just let me know what you want me to do.
  3. whenever i click on this topic it freezes my computer. all other threads work fine just not this one. whats going on? has paul put a curse on me? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=145145
  4. I second that. So Paul which is it? are you coming to sa or going to NSW any time soon? proof is in the driving, not hear say, or what you have read in some book. Tell everyone how many auto skylines you have been in in your life! please dont coment on something that you havent experienced first hand. as a moderator you shouldnt be influencing people with your wisdom if you know nothing, apart from what you have read. Im not being harsh im just sick of people arguing with you that its fine and you keep disputing this even tho you have no proof that it doesnt work with a shift kitted auto. I truly believe the ignition retard is a luxury thing to make the car smoother. by increasing the shift speed with a shift kit we are by passing this standard design and therfore bypassing the need for the standard computer. As far as Mike from MV automatics is concerned the R33 jatco auto is far superior in strength to the vl box, so you tell me the difference! He has driven my car at near 300 kws and couldnt fault the auto. but what would he know? obviously not as much as your pfc book! Sorry but its the truth.
  5. let me know ... interesting if theres any difference
  6. so what power are you at at the moment and what turbo are you running? As mentioned above the stage 2 cams need all the other goodys to go with it! are you using them or just the stage 1 cams?
  7. not being nasty, but good luck with the gearbox. whatever you do dont stick anything other then the standard clutch in it. a mate has spent more money on replacement gearboxs and rebuilt gearboxes with dog gears etc then what he payed for the car. (im not joking) and any work you get on the trans has absolutely NO Waranty. 2 days later Bang! another $5000 ouch. Hence now he has sold the car and purchased a nissan. Just be carefull is all im saying.
  8. dont bother arguing with him! he drives a manual so he must know what his talking about.
  9. what size exhaust A/R did you pick? mines a .82 and i see full boost by 4200 with stock cams and gears. so you should be fairly similar i would say, although mine being auto helps bring the boost on. power ? maybe get to 400 hp if the winds blowing the right way. but you might need some more mods, and a rebuild if you get to excited with the boost. i havent heard of anyone having the new gt3040r-iw yet so you might be the first! as i was with the gt35! where are you getting it from?
  10. very nice! i would say its a little to big if your running a manual, but the auto loves the gt35. the gt30 would be a nice compromise. and im not looking for huge peak power just all thru out the rev range, and i figure the poncams have got too be better then standard cams
  11. Hey Guys. I have searched! Car r33 gtst S1 Auto Im running the new gt3540-IW with a built bottom end and a standard head + cams So my question is who has got to 300 kws at the wheels with standard cams and then replaced them for some poncams? Most serches i did came up with about 20 kws as an average over the rev range, but most were all in the low to mid 200 kw range! Does this increase as the flow / Kws increase? Cheers Darren
  12. sounds like you need a bigger hammer.. recheck all the head studs and make sure you have all the little bolts out. theres nothing else except the headgasket holding it on. All else fails hook your block and tackle up to the head and keep lifting until the front wheels just leave the ground then start smacking it with a hammer or 2 x 4! works every time.
  13. ease up! what you have typed above tells me that your not as smart as you think you are and you payed way to much for a property that has since dropped in value. Surprise surprise you live in NSW may i guess somewhere near sydney? in the last 5 years my house in adelaide has doubled it's value. Has your car doubled its value? has your car held the same value? or has your car decreased in value? Just because you purchased a overpriced house at the wrong time doesnt class it as a bad idea!
  14. Do it!!!!!!! shouldnt be to hard.
  15. Are you serious? havent you read what i have typed above.. you must be drunk....
  16. it depends on if you can access the two little 10 mm bolts hiden at 7 oclock and 1 oclock if your standing in front of the car, looking at the motor. i cant remember, but there hidden. especially the front one.
  17. it swallowed a 42cm mullet that i was using for bait, whole. All three 6/0 hooks were down its throat, so it wasnt getting away in a hurry.
  18. a few on here have mentioned fishing. i just got back from salt creek where i caught this monster. 124cm and 18 kilos.
  19. if you leave the loom conected it can try to kick back to 2nd when you give it WOT in Drive! or you have to do the run with it stuck in second. but much past 250kws it will ramp up to fast in second and smoke the tyres. by unpluging the loom you solve these two probs and can tune all the map not just WOT.
  20. No gearchange i have unplugged the trans loom in the engine bay so the car is stuck in 3rd as the car takes off in third it may just be how John used the throttle to get the rollers up to speed. As you can see boost ramps up ridiculisly fast and the trans is still going strong.
  21. Hi Gary i hoped you would enter into this discussion. the car is a daily driver and is normally driven by my wife. as the car has a stage 2 shift kit, the shifts are quick and precise whether it had the stock ecu or the PFC. as far as shift points are concerned it does everytyhing when it should acording to your right foot. its very predictable and is the same quality of drive today as it was when i installed it. The shift quality compared to the standard ecu cant be measured as the stage 2 shift kit does all the work and shift quality is the same regardless of ecu. i agree without the shift kit a aftermarket ecu would place more stress on the bands etc, but with a shift kit the ecu issue is removed.
  22. i entered my dyno sheet into the xl spreadsheet thing thats just started last week so have a look on there and compare it to your xr6 etc.
  23. i will see if i can get a trace file from my dyno operator. but i think i have proved the strength of the box, and that it works dont you?
