  1. Dan, Whilst the lift pump will only be supplying 255lp/h, and the main taking 300lp/h, there should not be an issue, as long as your engine doesn't need the full 300lp/h supply, as any left over from the injection system comes back to the surge tank and maintains it's level, essentially the main pump is resupplying the surge tank with 300lp/h minus the fuel taken by the engine. Definitely do not wire the pumps directly!
  2. You can use a small 4~7 row oil cooler as a fuel cooler if you are worried about temps being to high as well, they can easily take the pressure, just make sure that they have airflow ducted to them, and are shielded from damage.
  3. At least we won't have the breakfast show "stars" on the coverage. http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/television/channel-ten-axes-breakfast-and-morning-news-bulletin/story-e6frfmyi-1226514926249
  4. Vinyl wrapping a new helmet will help protect it from minor scratches, I have seen drivers who have damaged their helmets get the airbrush guy to touch up the damage so that it is not visible to the naked eye as well. CAMS Regs: Schedule G; 4.3.d Decoration Decoration of helmets is potentially dangerous, and members are warned of the hazard of using paint on approved helmets. Paint, stickers and transfers, or surface treatments can react with helmet shell material and affect its protective capacity; therefore, where a manufacturer provides guidelines or restrictions on the painting or decoration of helmets, these must be followed, using only paint or surface treatment specified by them (eg, air drying acrylic, polyurethane enamel or others) and preferably a painter having their approval. This is particularly important for injection-moulded shells which are not usually suitable for painting. The shell being painted should be efficiently masked as paint penetrating the interior can affect the performance of the helmet liner. Paints requiring heat curing should not be used and any process should not exceed the maximum temperature of conditioning of the helmet in the standard to which it is approved. The manufacturer’s instructions should also be consulted for any considerations on the use of stickers and transfers.
  5. Try talking to some places that do vinyl wrapping Roy, most of them can do the designs and transfer them onto the helmet quite easily, and I would say for a lot less.
  6. The spring type torque wrenches will hold their calibration well, as long as they are not left in a set position for a long time, if you are not using it, the tension should be taken off of the spring, if you need a torque wrench that will be used for one tension only, then a beam type is more practical, as long as they do not get over torqued and deformed. I have a Kincrome rechargeable impact wrench, a bit on the expensive side if you buy retail, but so far hasn't let me down, and works well on the center locks for the Speads.
  7. Dale, Sorry, I didn't get a notification of your reply, the PDM15 is around $1800 and that does to job on most cars, I have a M48 in the car but it doesn't directly communicate with the PDM as you need CAN for that, I use a few of the outputs from the ECU to drive the PDM (Fuel Pump, Intercooler spray) and use an AiM Sportssystem EVO4 data logger and MXL Dash.
  8. So the teams that didn't have the engine mapping quite right in the first four races, or have since made major changes to the cars exhaust systems and other area's will possibly be screwed over big time by this.
  9. No really functional public transport from either of the airports, it's either a taxi or the skybus that runs between Tullamarine and various locations. If you unfortunately land at Avalon, you are even worse off.
  10. The Gearbox and KERS coolers are located down the back of the car and are fed by this duct.
  11. Antone else notice the guys on either side of the middle of the car wearing what looks like fire extinguishers are also holding mini sledge hammers?
  12. Russ, Try Keble's, they carry a large range of turnbuckles like those, in a variety of sizes.
  13. It's already been acknowledged that they are running a version of the F Duct into the front wing that is designed to manipulate the airflow off of the wing over the rest of the car.
  14. Stohr's are quick, Adam Proctor won the Sports Racer series in his this year, however he had all of the best gear on his car (it won the DSR championship in the USA the previous year) and it had a modified motor when the Speads and the West's ran stock motors. I have heard from people who run them and race against them in the States that they are somewhat more fragile than the West's and the Speads, as everything on the car has been reduced to the minimum size needed, and there are a number of parts like rod ends that are considered throw away items in the car.
  15. At least there will be a Nissan at the front of the pack at some stage during the year. That's the course car being stickered at the moment. They do not have to use a pushrod V8, they can use a modern V8 engine, it is just subject to "parity" adjustments.
  16. There are supposed to be parity rules regarding new entrants being able to run a more up to date engine design if they do not have an equivalent engine in their range (or they can run an "off the shelf" V8 Supercars spec engine using aftermarket parts that have been specified by the organisers), however, as no one has yet presented that type of engine, it is not agreed upon as the to requirements for parity.
  17. What does the inside of the tyre look like?
  18. Did you take pyro readings for the tyres? I have seen that happen before on tyres that got too hot and over pressurised.
  19. Commodores have been known to chew out rear tyres at a rapid rate when towing heavy loads without any modifications to the rear suspension, so just be aware of that issue, especially with the VT, VY and VZ models.
  20. I'm rebuilding two cars at the moment using PDM15's so far i have found them to be very good, once you get everything that you need from Motec to run them, as they do not come with any of the plugs etc.
  21. It was during the GT race at Island magic Roy.
  22. My cousin works in Newman as well, he described the place as a drinking town with a mining problem.
