  1. I'm pretty sure I do... I might have gotten that wrong though, as I said I've only been to EC once, and this is from memory... I guess I'll find out next week! Don't shoot me if I got the top speed wrong! :burnout: Edit: I have no idea what my last turn exit speed is, I'll try to have a look next thurs
  2. DON'T LET FATZ TAKE HIM FOR A DRIVE!!! You'll never be allowed to come to the track again!!!!
  3. Yes, they are always busy, that's why I said to drop my name I called on Monday midday, and told them I needed a clutch fitted, and they said to bring it down straight away, and they'll do it for me They then did a service for me on the spot when I asked them to later in the week... It's all about who you know
  4. Your mum wears army boots!!! I've always thought that was the lamest "Ya mum" joke EVER"
  5. If you don't have to brake for Turn 1, you don't have enough power I have to brake from 260 -> 180 to take turn 1 with Dunlop D01Js... I might be able to take Turn 1 faster, but I have only driven around EC once, so I'll gradually increase my velocity through that turn... plus I don't really want to punt my car into a wall How fast do you take Turn 1 Duncan? I'd love to come for a ride with you on thursday if you don't mind... Maybe learn a few more tips and tricks, and tighten up my line...
  6. C&V Performance in Waterloo should be able to look after you... Give them a call on 9690-2000, and ask to speak to "Big Con"... Tell him Andrew Ho referred you and they'll look after you... Explain your predicament, and see if they can fast-track the job for you... Is that your car in your avatar? Looks beautiful! Got any larger pics?
  7. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... That is the worst "internet abbreviation" I have *EVER* seen :bahaha: :bahaha: :bahaha: :bahaha:
  8. A decision is going to have to be made soon on this guys Whoever is going to step and organise it, just choose one of the popular dates and run with it, otherwise if we keep waiting for one date to be a clear winner, it'll never get organised
  9. Yeah, I was disappointed too... As soon as I bogged down, I knew it was all over... The road wasn't long enough for me to catch him with that ATESSA launch... What can I say? I need launching practice I pretty much never drag race... Rest assured if I had more road, I would have caught him But I didn't, and he won. End of story... It was damn good fun, until we both realised we broke our clutches though My car snapped it's clutch pivot fork, and is in surgery right now
  10. Very nice looking car Hicks! Got any unphotochopped shots of the car?
  11. 450rwhp is extreme in RB25DET terms. While not a lot in the whole "engine world", it's further than 95% of RB25DET owners will want to take their engines. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with custom plenums, and while it's true that they wouldn't have as much R&D put into them as the Japanese brands, they are cheaper, and more accessible to those people you mentioned before with a limited budget. I have a GReddy plenum with Q45/VH45 90mm Throttle Body, and I agree that it completely transforms the look of the engine bay Here's a photo:
  12. Not really, as there is nothing really wrong with having the piping go over the top of the radiator, like most Japanese kits. I haven't done any testing, but I would assume intake temps would only pick up a few degrees extra heat by passing over in this fashion... If you wanted to goto extremes and relocate the throttle body, you would be chasing extreme horsepower (if not, that money would be better spent elsewhere).. and since you are chasing extreme horsepower, you will most probably be spending big on other parts of your engine, so it would make sense to do everything properly, and not do cut and shut jobs. GReddy plenum is $1300 from Japan, and locally made ones can be found for less than $1000. Still a lot of money, yes, but as I said before, when chasing extreme horsepower, $1000-$1300 isn't a lot in the big scheme of things...
  13. To be completely blunt, and to risk being called "arrogant", that's the worst idea EVER. The stock inlet plenum has baffles and air deflectors inside the plenum chamber to distribute air flow evenly to all 6 cylinders. These baffles and deflectors are designed for a side intrustion design, and if you weld that shut and move the air entrance to one end of the plenum, you'll completely disrupt the airflow characteristics of the plenum chamber, and risk having a few cylinders run rich, and worse, a few cylinders run LEAN! To be honest, I know a few people who have done this modification, and it *seems* to work okay, but I sure as HELL wouldn't consider doing that on my car. Invest in a proper plenum chamber, or live with another ~80cm of piping IMHO.
  14. Just like DR GTR owned my ass Oh well... Once we BOTH get new clutches, and I do some practice launches, we'll have to run again It'll be very hard to beat that ATESSA launch though
  15. Yeah dude... My car has a Tial wastegate, that just dumps to atmosphere... Doesn't even have a screamer pipe
  16. Yeah... If he can find his camera... Sometimes he misplaces it and gets all upset :bahaha:
  17. Agreed... That was the only thing that pissed me off about last night. The security guards were being so nice, and some heros had to wave their 2" penis and floor it out of the bus-stop, RIGHT IN FRONT OF SECURITY. How stupid can you be? Seriously... And people wonder why security guards and police hate us Other than that, great to see so many nice cars last night!
  18. I leave for Japan on the 9th, and I'm busy all day on the 5th
  19. Yeah, Wiseco pistons are the cheapest I have found too... But I have been led to believe that they aren't quite as good as the Japanese forged pistons... Remember that not all forged pistons are equal You get what you pay for in other words... This is what I've been told anyway... I can't say I've done any testing to prove that the Wisecos aren't as good as the $2500 Japanese pistons. With the Wisecos at $1500 (my price) and the HKS/JUN/GREX pistons at +$2300... I thought I'd go the middle ground and aim at $1800 pistons (JE or Tomei)
  20. Did your "tuner" explain why he thought that (re: gasket)? At 2 bar boost (which I'm planning on running), I can't see the factory gasket holding that for very long, so I've decided a metal gasket is more suitable. I'm sticking with the RB25 head, but putting RB26 solid lifters in, allowing higher lift and higher revs. I am still tossing up between Tomei and JE pistons. Both would be around $1800-1900 for the set of 6. When you have a turbo as large as the GT3040, especially the HKS version which is optimised for high boost (1.6-2.0 bar) and high power, you don't want to restrict it's breathing by putting too small a duration cam in there... So when I get around to doing the cams, I'll do more research and find the best compromise between drivability and high-rev breathability
  21. I know I'm not helping much by saying this, but: LET'S GET SOME DATES ORGANISED
  22. There are a few Japanese companies that manufacture camshafts for the RB25 that allow you to keep you NVCS, but I want to put the RB26 rocker covers on, which doesn't have the mound for the NVCS sensor, so I'm going to have to get rid of it... Lame, I know. I was looking at 264/264, which as much lift as I could get away with without machining the head. I will me ordering 87mm pistons (86mm stock, so that's 1mm or 40thou overbore)... I also have a 1.6mm HKS Metal Head Gasket sitting next to me which will lower compression to 8.6:1, which should be low enough, so I'll get the pistons at factory compression.
  23. The HKS GT3040 starts spooling at 2500rpm, and has 1bar at 4000rpm... I love it because I can cruise around in it, and it's just like driving a 2.5L N/A engine, and doesn't vent the BOV, and doesn't attract that much attention from the cops (as little as a Skyline could, anyway), but when I floor it, all hell breaks loose I shall take my own advice and hold off on the camshafts until after the internals go in... There's no benefit in doing them at the same time as the internals, as cams can be dropped in without removing the head anyway. I have sourced RB26 camshafts though, and will be removing NVCS, which I'm not too happy about.
  24. I am getting an RB26 Crank, RB26 Rods (which I will shotpeen, linish and crack test), ARP rod bolts, and Forged JE or Tomei Pistons... I have an HKS GT3040 and I gained between 5-10rwkw all the way through the rev range on my standard RB25 cams by adding HKS Adjustable Cam Gears... By far the best benefit from fitting these Cam Gears was that it allowed the turbo to spool up 200rpm earlier, which made a huge difference in the driveability of the car... I will be swapping over to RB26 solid lifters, because the hydraulic lifters have been known to fall over at over 8000rpm (I want a 9000rpm redline)... Cheers.
