No they heat cycle badly. 050s are better long term value as the grip levels are higher and they maintain those levels till they're bald. 048s are old technology - been around forever (at least 15 years that I know of)

The problem is that people in general aren't very good at honestly identifying, classifying or mitigating risk. Hence the somewhat arbitrary speed limits. I totally agree that there are times where exceeding posted limits, or accelerating fairly quickly do not significantly increase the risk of harm. However I wouldn't trust 90%of the population to recognise those situations and regulate themselves accordingly if there were no limits to adhere to. -

NO!Kepner Tregoe problem solving 101: If you have a problem where there wasn't previously, find what has changed and undo that change (yes, big over simplification). I don't think that the rear Springs magically got too stiff by themselves (although some will tell you that being too stiff can lead to a loose rear end, but we'll leave that alone) -

That's getting on a bit, and some tyres suffer from this more than others. However i wouldnt expect 4 year old tyres to cause this mucn of a problem. Worth swapping front to back (for some reason I thought you'd already tried this) to at least eliminate this option. -

Wait... You don't like your fwd because it feels like it wants to oversteer? I'm failing to see the problem. Any decent fwd steerer will tell you that's the optimum situation. You just counter it with throttle. Maybe take it to a skid pan and see where it actually does break away. Feeling light and actually breaking traction can be 2 different things. Otherwise check rear alignment. Fwds are very sensitive to toe changes. Couple with worn steering or bearings (after 90000k you could have worn components) you can find it feeling very skittish. -
What concerns me is, why are you wanting to ship body parts? Are you buying or selling?

No it wont There are 2 camps in the gravel fraternity. Those who love locked diffs on gravel, and those who hate them. Both camps are right (ie either it suits your driving style or it doesn't). all of the best club rally drivers I've known hate them and would never use one because of their unpredictability. I've run proper plate LSD's in several (FWD and RWD) gravel cars and a well set up LSD is perfect. Well worth the coin IMO - even for a low powered car. -

Exactly, Daleo Nobody buys a car based on emissions output. Anyone who claims it's the sole (or major) reason they bought a VW are lying, and grubby opportunists. If these people cared that much about their car's emissions, they would be driving electric cars, fed by their solar array on the roof. Yes, VW have a case to answer to, but it isn't the compensation of millions of wronged customers. -
Correct. It's a money making scam. If they throw it in for free, you might get some benefit out of it (if you happen to fail one of the few items that is actually covered by the warranty). However, you're better off getting them to knock a couple hundy off the purchase price instead.

Yep I've no doubt that heat cycling can affect a tyres properties. I can't see how sitting a Tyre in an oven at 100 deg for an hour would be any less effective than the expensive services offered by the suppliers. The other thing is how much difference does the process make? Is it even measurable?

Just read some of the Gordon leven heat zap propaganda. Sounds like pseudoscience and bullshit physics to me Anyone know what temp to heat the tyres to? I can throw them into a curing oven at anything up to 110 deg c for as long as necessary. Wonder if that would achieve anything

^^this Love the place. I'd live there in a heartbeat. Skiing in winter, mountain biking in summer, excellent food, best rally scene in the southern hemisphere - what's not to love.

Factory brackets in some cases can tear out with upgraded bars. I know that the early Whiteline rear ARB's for EK civics were tearing the mounts out of the rear X-member. They had to develop a heavy X-member brace to address the problem. I heard of similar problems with Foresters when people started upgrading rear ARB's. These are only 2 examples of cars I've owned and looked at upgrading - could be a lot more out there that suffer the same fate. Have you talked to Whiteline about this. They actually do take some accountability for this kind of thing.

Dam! So many problems with carbon clutches. I had one in the rally car and it ran faultlessly at 9000RPM all day Then again, it was only harnessing 118kW of Vtec goodness (and being a N/A 1.6L, probably about 150Nm) -
The most common argument could possibly be because we're bound by the laws of physics, regardless of what people want to believe.

So a guy claimed to have this fantastic technology then died. Damn you got me. Whether in gaseous form or otherwise it's still a chemical reaction that creates energy and water. The fact of the matter is that it still takes a lot of energy to make the hydrogen fuel. Once we can improve the process of using renewable energy to generate the hydrogen fuel it will start to become viable. I know that we have been using solar power to make the hydrogen fuel for as long as we have been using solar power. There's currently no economic way to do it, hence it isn't viable. With more research/investment in the technology it might become viable. Currently fossil fuel is the cheapest option, hence it's popularity. Simple as that. We will discover new energy technologies, but hydrogen technology in its current form is not it.

The only real way that hydrogen fuel cells are likely to gain favour is as a means of storing energy. Use solar to generate hydrogen gas, then use the hydrogen to power your car. This does have bona fide applications, and might become a useable application of hydrogen energy. Generating hydrogen and oxygen from water takes more energy than is released when you ignite the mix (1st 2 laws of thermodynamics). There's no way you can generate it on the fly (it's like hooking up an alternator to the wheel of your electric car and using that to charge the batteries so the car will run forever) People have been researching this for years, and several have claimed to have made a breakthrough in the process, yet whenever any of them have been asked to prove their claims, they have all fallen flat. Of course there are those who believe that it's the big oil companies burying the new technology. Just like big pharma are burying cancer cures, vaccines, fluoride and chemtrails contain mind control drugs, and the moon landing was just an american plot to demonstrate superiority over Russia.

Quoted for truth If you're in Sydney, go to Hare and Forbes - they sell Mitutoyo stuff and usually at good prices (thought call them first as they tend not to carry a lot in stock - usually only a couple of days though). Beware buying Mitutoyo online, as there are now a lot of Chinese fakes on the market. Don't let Hare and Forbes talk you into buying Measurmax brand. It's cheap for a reason. Probably decent for the money you pay, but for a little more $$ Mitutoyo shits on it for quality. You'll need a decent quality mag base as well. I bought a Noga base with articulated swivel arm last year - it's a fantastic bit of kit. Buy good quality gear and look after it, and it will last you a lifetime.

Just because it's a track hack doesn't mean it needs to be ugly. Personally I never spend a great amount of time on aesthetics, but I can appreciate a well turned out car (and it helps a lot if you're chasing sponsorship / media coverage etc. - as I said, that's not my bag, baby). White or very light grey is a good choice, and gloss everywhere apart from parts of the cage which may cause reflections. You can always stick vinyl (CF / matte black etc.) over those sections later if you find reflections annoying. The lighter colours are especially handy for finding dropped screws / washers / electrical connectors when you're working under the dash and inevitably drop stuff. If you can, try to get a good quality paint (some people use POR, which seems to hold up well) as the scuff marks will soon wear through the paint and make it look shabby. Coming from a gravel background, I'm used to the interior getting mud, sand and grass in there, so a regular vacuum is essential. The gloss paint makes cleaning much easier, and keeps it looking respectable. Also, it's worth putting something grippy (chequer plate, grip tape etc) around where your feet rest on the floor. It provides good wear, and the added grip is handy to stop your feet sliding around (specially climbing in and out of a caged car in wet / muddy conditions)

Wouldn't it be easier to photograph the items they sent you with all of the documentation, then a copy of the order you placed with them, and supply all of this evidence to them? Then demand they send your stuff to you and you will return the incorrectly supplied gear at their cost. I find it suspicious that you aren't able to prove to Nengun that they sent you the wrong stuff. You should have plenty of evidence / documentation / paper trail at your end to prove your case. Sounds a little fishy to me.
