  1. Get the crank crack tested, its simple. There is no difference between the R32/R33/R34 cranks except for the oil pump drive on the R32 ones. Just get a collar fitted and you wont have any problems. Talk to Greg at Pro Engines (www.proengines.com.au). He makes the collars exactly the same as the JUN ones using hardened steel and only charges about half the price. The nose of the crank has to be ground down, then the collar is pressed on (using a 40 ton press I think it was) and grub screwed in for good measure. The weakest part of the crank is the rod bolts. Use ARP 2000 rod bolts and you wont have any problems with it. As an example, I have been running over 300kw on an R32 crank (which is now 13 years old) for almost 3 years now. Recently had the crank out of the car and it was still in perfect condition. You will be waiting a bloody long time for a brand new crank. Nissan JP dont even have any in stock, and they will fill all there back orders first before they even think about sending them overseas. Thats assuming they come back into production....
  2. Definately give it a try, its better than The land of goat sphincter rings pide house in my opinion... it just tastes "fresher" (maybe fresher breads being used?)... talking about it yesterday made me crave, so I grabbed a pide for dinner Its called The land of goat sphincter rings Grill.
  3. Kind of interesting, after a fresh rebuild mine idled quite high for the first 2000kms until it was run in properly then dropped back down to normal.
  4. Business Name: Montezumas Location: Civic Food Type: Mexican Taste: 9/10 Service: 10/10 Value: 9.5/10 Parking: Lots of parking in the theatre parking lot just across the road. Only just remembered about montezumas, have been eating there alot lately. For less than $15 you can get a massive meal. Reccomendations are the chorizo enchilada and the meatballs (make sure you get it with rice). Food tastes awesome, and its relatively small so service is excellent.
  5. Have seen stock rods coping with 600kw at the flywheel, the weakest part of them is the bolts. Get a set of ARP 2000 rod bolts and the standard ones will cope fine with what you want (I have been running over 300rwkw for almost 3 years on a set of prepped standard rods. Just pulled them out recently and they are still in perfect condition). As for the oil gallery restrictor, its included when you buy the Tomei gasket kit or you can buy it seperately. Once again, Pro Engines can supply them (pro engines basically copy alot of the jap stuff and sell it for half the price. Just as good quality, sometimes even better, e.g jun style sump baffling, jun style crank collar etc).
  6. Id agree, Oporto has become absolute crap. When it opened in Woden like 3 years ago it was good, but the burgers are always shit house now and the chips are never cooked properly.
  7. Business Name: The land of goat sphincter rings Palace (I think, cant remember exactly off the top of my head) Location: Erindale Food Type: The land of goat sphincter rings Taste: 9/10 Service: 10/10 Value: 8/10 Parking: Lots of parking its in that row of shops that has dominos, pizza hut, kingsleys etc. Awesome The land of goat sphincter rings place for southsiders (never been one south side). Service is excellent and food is always ready when they say it will be. The land of goat sphincter rings food always costs a little bit more, but one pide/pizza is $14 and will feed at least 2 people. On par if not slightly better than The land of goat sphincter rings Pide House in my opinion. They do some mean lemon+garlic+herbs lamb skewers with rice, and spicy salami and traditional chicken pides/pizzas. The parmesan chicken with aioli dip is awesome too... man im hungry now!
  8. Dont bother with N1 rods and pistons, you can get a brand new set of Eagle rods and Arias forged pistons that will happily cope with what you are after for less than the genuine Nissan items. Also check out what SydneyKid has had to say about N1 water pumps on street cars, not a great idea overall. As for the crank... good luck. Nissan AU and JP have been out of stock of RB26 cranks for quite some time, and no signs of them returning any time soon. Just cross your fingers your crank isnt stuffed beyond repair otherwise youre going to have to try and find a good second hand one. Make sure if you keep the R32 crank you get the crank collar fitted. Pro Engines can supply them for a very good price.
  9. Sarcasm is really had to imply on these forums...
  10. Business Name: La Rustica Location: Kingston Food Type: Italian Taste: 10/10 Service: 8.5/10 Value: 9/10 Parking: Depends on hour, Kingston can suck ass to find parking at say 8pm on a Friday night. Awesome italian place, good value for money and the food has always tasted good. Personal reccomendations are the Calabrese pizza and lasagne.... mmmmm...
  11. That is correct, you might have heard people saying they have a wastegate not a bov, do this mod and you can say the same too. The screamer pipe is what gives the VL's their "choof choof choof choof" noise.
  12. It seals up to the outlet port of the internal wastegate. Try and picture an exhaust housing on the turbo like this (oO). The smaller o is the outlet of the internal wastegate, the bigger O is the nomral exhaust from the exhaust side of the turbo. My personal opinion is they sound like crap on most internally gated turbos.
  13. If its a 1993 model I would be betting the old crank design... have seen a early January 1994 model with the small drive and a late January 1994 with the new drive, so im assuming it was somewhere in that period it cut over for all new cars.
  14. Has the car been in an accident before you bought it? Have seen this happen many a time when the car has had a rear impact and it pushes the fuel neck out of alignment. Only happens when people dont repair the car properly.
  15. As wrxhoon said, good luck finding a brand new Nissan crank. They are basically non existant at the moment and for the forseeable future. The modification is extending the drive for the oil pump on the end of the crankshaft. It involves grinding back the original drive, pressing the new extended collar on and grub screwing it in place for good measure. www.proengines.com.au can help you with all the info as they rebuild quite alot of these things.
  16. Not sure on how easy/hard it is, but just thought I would mention that you can no longer buy new parts for these gearboxes. If you want to recondition it with brand new Nissan stuff you will need to upgrade all the synchro gear to the R33 GTR Series 3 stuff, which is all Nissan sell for the 5 speed now. Adds up to be quite a costly exercise.
  17. If it is a real 1994 model it shouldnt need the crank collar as they had the problem fixed on them
  18. Do you or your engine builder have access to an engine dyno? Alot easier to quickly start it up on that to see what the pressure is than r&r'ing it all the time.
  19. The R32 GTR dump pipes are piss poor and a massive restriction. You can gain a fair whack of power by changing these. When the magazines refer to standard dumps being ok they are talking about the 33 and 34 which are alot better designed than the 32 ones. Front pipes are also a good upgrade and will make the car breathe better (rev quicker and smoother due to less exhaust restriction). I also happen to have a beautiful set of Veilside front pipes for sale (unless my mechanic sold them already). They are perfect tuned length and tuck nicely under the car. Brand new they were worth $1500, I paid over $750 and would let them go for $600ish (if they havent been sold already). Oh and your engine is out getting a rebuild? Just some free advice, I hope you got the crank collar for the oil pump fitted and sump baffles installed... could save you alot of heartache later on!
  20. Mine was 41psi + boost, but the standard pressure regulator had been tapped in on the head which will raise the pressure. 38psi sounds about right.
  21. You need the Greddy electronic gauges that will support the output of those sensors, the cheaper mechanical ones wont work with those sender units.
  22. Fact is air is lazy, it will always travel the path of least resistance. Any gaps above the radiator, and you will lose air through it. The diversion plates seal off all the gaps so the air coming in has nowhere to go but through the radiator, thus helping with cooling. No rice about it, they were designed to do a specific job and they do it well.
  23. I was running over 300kw at the wheels with one and it was still working ok. Any more than that though and I would look at upgrading (and a Hybrid or those cheap ones are not an upgrade over a standard 32 GTR cooler).
  24. Not looking good at the moment but crossing my fingers.
  25. Big thanks to Matt for helping me out. Havent taken it yet, but very good quote, and the excesses are unbelieveable (sub $1000 as opposed to just cars $4000) Very happy and should be taking it up shortly
