  1. i'm just gonna jump on the bandwagon and say status. trent is a top bloke never dealt with the others though, i'm sure they are much the same...
  2. all these things that i have found to be horribly innaccurate. i've mentioned it on here before about the iphone one. i was steering my mates VL, GT35R, nistune, 700cc injectors etc, had the thing flat out for over 20sec before the iphone decided we had completed a 1/4 mile find a quiet road, measure out 400m, do runs with a stop watch. most people dont realise just how close you can get it yourself, think about it, if you mark two clear lines on the road, you should be able to hit the button to start/stop within a tenth or so of where you should be...
  3. yeah just had a quick look over what i thought i read ages ago. seems its only good down to 5-10 degrees C, below 5 it doesnt work. i was confusing it with another one that cold started fine in freezing weather, but not on E85
  4. for the guys having cold start issues, add a massive amount of fuel, like 50% and take timing back to 0 or 5 degrees. it was something said by a tuner from the states, doesnt seem to have cold start issues, even below 0*c.
  5. ECU wont really effect top end power. difference between a good ECU and a cheap nugget is in the drivability of the car. if its making less power then its been wound back. from what i've read the 8860 is actually a very good computer, but ems is ofen overlooked for other more common brand names
  6. yeah sorry when i mentioned it, wasnt saying its what it *should* cost, i too think its a rip, but there are no shortage of ppl buying it lol
  7. definately already explained most of that on page 1. do you guys not read? lol
  8. just a note for a couple of guys on the first page. ring lands and rings are different things. if ring lands (pistons) are rooted then i'd say its tune related (detonation). if its just the rings themselves i'd guess they lost oil for a bit. sounds like it happened over a fairly short time though, so most likely det/ring land fail
  9. yeah alot of HOK stuff starts around 1k a litre. so does 'top secret' gold if you buy it from them....
  10. yes there is...? pretty much minibus specific though, no trucks as such (so i'm lead to believe)
  11. coates hire have them. i think rental price is about 1/4 of purchase price, so work out if your going to pull a motor out/put one back in more than 4 times in your life, if you will, buy one instead of hiring
  12. there is nothing wrong with what he is saying the company had some brilliant ground breaking idea of having a BOV that opens at low load/under vaccum, from memory it was for quicker throttle response, as when you crack the throttle, the air has a much shorter inlet path to the plenum, because intercoolers and piping and the whole turbo system is a big restriction. the guy in the video is talking about that product specifically, because it draws in air under vaccum, people like to put filters on them. but hes saying that because the bimmer turbo is so 'efficient' and flows enough air, that there is actualy no vaccum through the BOV (again, keep in mind, this is product specific). stupid thing is, if there is no vaccum though the BOV, there is no need to use their product on that car lol. that said it will probly open if you suddenly stab the throttle. i still found it funny though
  13. 99% sure they have a booth
  14. yeah did it ages ago. fucking hate homework, thats why i did a trade instead of going to uni (plus i'm a dumb c*nt), hence not wanting to do the paperwork side of things.
  15. if you wanna pull a shifty, grab a windscreen washer setup of something at a wrecker, set the two squirters up on the back wheels and fill the bottle with bleach. mad smoke on the cheap
  16. haha had a fitter tell me my welding was sh*t yesterday. i would have abused him if he wasnt right.... i'm a bit of a hack lol
  17. selling on behalf of a mate have a set of genuine Work VS-XX (18x7.5 + 18X8.5 +38 offset all round) wheels with near new (only a couple hundred km's on em) Hankook Ventus sport k104 tyres (235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear) . Has a few gutter rash and marks here and there. PM me any questions or offers cheers, Ben
  18. my dick is no longer bound by the constraints of my pants. thank you. PS - if stock, 2000gt ftw. modified i'd have to go with gtr or Z, only because i've never seen a modified 2000gt (understandabe with the price of the things)

    Welders

i've have spent years with my head in a cheap bucket, i actually prefer it. for me, i prefer the nice, lightweight, cheap (ie: breakable) CIG special. the only real benefit i see of the expensive ones is quick changing between light and dark shades, but i just leave a dark one in my lid all the time and never have an issue... each to there own tho, i can understnad why some people like the idea of auto darkening, but its not that special in reality IMO

    Welders

f*ck automatic helmets, $12 CIG special ftw! also, have played with one of those UNITIG's, and thats what i'd be looking at as a starting point. they are basically the same as the $1200 welders on ebay, but they dont blow up when you turn them on. from my research, its about a $500 fix when they blow up, so you will spend the same as buying a UNITIG locally, but you wont get the support with it.
  21. mate looked at doing this on his soarer recently, currently making 275rwkw. he asked a well known (amongst soarer ppl) tuner what his thoughts were. he said the current systems are too unreliable, and to go with a mixer type setup for both power and reliability... as above, give it time for the tech to develope a bit (and the price to drop) and then it may be a more realistic option. either that or get a mixer setup now also, some people will spout off octane numbers like lpg is something special, but with it being less energy dense, and i believe it has a slower burn rate also, i dont think its noticably better than 98 (any tuners feel free to correct me on this)
  22. define 'wreck' was it in a big smash? is the battery good? if the above is good, check if its getting power to the starter, if it is, then the starter is rooted, or the motor is siezed
