  1. not taking away from his ability, but if i was that good, i'd build one i could actually drive nice toy though...
  2. join supraforums/soarercentral lol its not overly complicated, it should all bolt up. you may be better off just buying a 2jz short motor and putting that in. then you can retain most of the stuff thats already there, ie loom/computer etc. also i believe you can put the 1jz pistons on the 2jz rods, so you can actually just get a 2jz-ge shortblock (worht nothing. should work out cheaper this way, give it new rings and bearings while its out. just be aware, if you buy a complete motor, most of the cheap 2jz's floating around now are from aristo's, for most part they are the same motor, but have a hydraulic fan/water pump arangement and a couple of other little things. start out with a 1jz because the boxes are reasonably tough, and buying a manual 2jz halfcut is near impossible, or hidesouly expensive at best. if you start out with an auto soarer and want to do a manual conversion with soarer gear, it will set you back 3.5k for the manual conversiona anyway, better spending a couple of grand extra straight up, will cost the same each way but will save you alot of work. get a custom pipe made up feeding off the standard 1jz manifolds, bolt up an XR6T GT35, decent cooler, open exhaust , throw in a computer and enjoy 300kw all day long. that will be maxing the injectors right out though, thrown in a bigger set if you feel the need to
  3. standard VLT setup /thread
  4. whats an iris?
  5. definate korean econobox going on there. that 2 door thing they got out atm looks half decent but
  6. definately a head off job, you might be thinking of valve stem seals that can be done with the head on. dropped valve is bad news, you might be up for a new motor
  7. yeah this bit i left out, at 3/4ish throttle it will run stupid rich. reason i didnt mention it was, i did see once, a tuner that had logged his daily drving/thrashing over a prolonged period, and i think there was two or three columns, just below full load, that the ECU almost never went into, it just wasn't an area of the map that got used, unless it was quickly passing through it. although this is only one persons results, it stuck in my mind and i like it obviously its not the best way to do it, but with limited resources, i dont think its as bad as most people think, although my experience is pretty limited in this area. heres a question for you trent, do you think YOU could tune a skyline with a stock AFM and injectors, that could make 260-270rwkw and hold together? ie, it may die from bad fuel/low fuel pump voltage/boost spike, but the tune itself would not be responsible for popping the motor. or do you think you just cant tune it that far passed its scope?
  8. didnt u workd at rvo?
  9. also, is your truck 3.3 unladen? are you going to be fully loaded going under the bridge?
  10. saw this thing a couple weeks back in springy rd i think. i would have car jacked you but i couldnt keep up
  11. i wouldn't say the tuner is guessing, (that siad im not a tuner). most of the things you mentioned should still be ok with a decent tune, its more when something else fails/goes wrong, and there is boost spike, or low voltage to fuel pump etc etc that there is less of a 'safety' window, but theorietically a tuner should be able to get it pretty close for most real world driving conditions, even pushing passed that tuning scope of the AFM (within reason, obviously aiming for like 1000hp is unrealistic)
  12. by the time you hit something hard enough, and in such a way to damage a wheel like that (whether it be a cheapy or not) you must be a real shit situation and the structural integrity of the rim would be your last concern, normally your that far gone, it doesnt make a difference. all you can do is clench your arsehole tight enough to cut fishing line and hope for the best
  13. cant say for sure, but if anything, i'd imagine the signage would say its slightly lower than it really is....

    Rb30

^smooth. your definately gonna get into that
  15. you want to build an RB30DET and put an R34 SMIC on it???
  16. there is a vid on youtube of the kid tipping up a drum of C16 into the back of his rig lol
  17. in one revolution of the 'crank', a 13b will suck in 1.3l, it will compress 1.3l, and it will force 1.3l out the arse of it. ok, so its all happening on different faces of the rotor, but theoretically, its still moving the same amount of air as a 1.3 litre 2 stroke piston motor isnt it? seems like gary is saying that one complete 'cycle' takes 3rpm in a rotor, thats where this figure of 3.9l is coming from? but its just not moving the same amount of air (horsepower) as a 3.9 2 stroke. a piston motor, 3.9l in capacity, 2 stroke, will move 3.9l per revolution of the crank, a 13b only moves 1.3l? had a long day, might be large amounts of both math and brain fail in there ^
  18. Gary, why should rpm be measured at the rotor rather than the ececntric shaft? rpm in a piston motor its taken from the crank isnt it? not trying to start arguments here, i just dont get where your coming from...

    Earthquake?

felt it in hampton park. was really wierd, was like one hit, almost like a quick explosion going off in the distance, then the same thing again like 10 secs later. thought somebody was outside trying to f*ck with me so ran outside amped as shit, then was greeted with nothing lol
  20. quality post ^
  21. i'd call the local cops and ask them. my understanding of it was that once that yellow sticker is on it, anyone is aloud to come and take it, and they are the legal new owner. dont know all the details but have heard of it being done. its not stealing because the propper authority make a 'reasonable' attempt to contact the owner, if they cant, or the owner does nothing then they can tow it. maybe the council just let anyone take it to save them the money or towing it? i nearly did the same thing not long ago, a mint condition mid 90's camry was on the side of the road with one of those stickers, but i drove passed it once more and it was gone, so never investigated it further
  22. i'd rather a non turbo supra than an overpriced NA 4 door R33
  23. SK, why does one 'cycle' mean that all 3 faces of the rotor have to see combustion pressure? why isnt one revolution of the output shaft one 'cycle'? you have intake compression combustion and exhaust all happening per revolution of the ecentric shaft, all be it on seperate sides of the rotor... i think this is one of those things that looks good on papare, having the whole 4-part cycle carried out in a single **cylender** in just one revolution of the crank. *** (cant remember what that stupid epictroid thing is actually called lol) 2 vs 4 stoke i cant see, i see how it is a 2 stroke, shit it has ports instead of valves for a start, but at the same time, it does have seperate 'chamers' for each part of the cycle, much like a 4 stroke doesnt it? although it has only 3 chambers for 4 parts of the cycle, hence i cant decide. 3 stroke motor???? going off my first thought, if one cycle is only one revolution of the eccentric shaft, then that would mean it is really only a 1.3 litre also, as it only moves 1.3 litres of air per 'revolution'. i just think they are a nugget of a 1.3, not an average 3.9 2 stroke. that said i'm not an engineer in anyway. am i just buying into mazda's lies?
  24. whats he doing over there and why did he take his car? permanent move?
