  2. hey guys, trying to fix a friends comp, as it was having serious issues. it would start to boot, then bring up the options of 'start in safe mode' etc, safe mode being the only one that actually worked, but once windows loaded, it just crashed and restarted anyway. note - all drives are IDE**** didnt look for sata ports, cbf pulling out my sata HDD anyway. so, tried to put another HDD in her comp as a master, as to retrieve all her data, couldnt find the HDD, so i puller her HDD out, put it in my comp, worked fine as a slave drive. tried to then reformat her computer. no dice. on the very first boot screen, and in BIOS, it can see the HDD, but if i try to reformat, windows tells me it cant find it. i've tried with XP, and that happens, i then tried with a legit copy of windows vista. it went though 'loading files', once thats complete, it goes to that screen with 'microsoft corp' and the scrolling loading bar, then it crashes, and it all starts again. i tried to put my spare HDD in there and straight reformat, no dice wtf is going on??? cheers, Ben
  3. he is worried the plates are gonna be put on a car and used for somethign illegal, so he has reported them as stolen, so he cant get them reissued

  5. hey guys, just posting this on behalf of someone on another forum. pretty distinctive plates, so keep an eye out for em. they had a protective cover, but was just ripped off, as were the plates (no tools used) full thread here: SFAU thread
  6. he was rough with the indicator stalk???? take the skirt off princess. you've got a turbo skyline, what the f*ck were you expecting when he said he wanted to drive the car? you think he wanted to drive it to get a feel for the interior trim? maybe wanted to know how cold the aircon was? what happened here, you either shouldnt have let him have the car if you odnt like mates thrashing it (perfectly acceptable) or been more serious in your approach to get him to pull his head in. for whats its worth, i thrash all my mates car, doing skids, on the limiter, gettings sideways etc (in safe/legal environments) and they except it. my mates thrash my cars too. honestly, i'd be like 'wtf' if you told me to drive it under 2500rpm with no boost or any of the fun stuff.... its like, 'whats the point??'

  9. bent valves. the pther problem i've seen with HKS cam gears is that shiny blue shit wears down/chips off, resulting in a tooth half the size of what it should be. at this point, i'd guess its jumped a tooth (loss of power) then jumped another tooth and smashed valves.
  10. how much do you charge to install them? can you supply them with cable and licence etc (wanna have a crack at tuning it myself)?

MISSR34, can i ask where you got this figure of 500rwkw from? seen a few V8 commodores with that charger or similar, keping in mind they roughly double the capacity (or more) than the motor your building, and i havent seen any of them make 500rkw.... that said i havent been actively looking for results
  13. ^no, vac should be there all the time, highest at idle/sharp closing of the throttle, and dropping as the throttle is opened more
  14. i understand where your coming from now, but keep in mind, hes not building the car to the same level as you though, he could probly get away with bolting it on and running low boost. he has obviously overlooked a few things, ie how big the job is, and possibly upgrading management (i dont see this as 100% necesary), but i think thats what this threads about... lol @ OP being shot down in flames anyway PS - 6/71 on RB30 has been done, in fact an inlet manifold for it was for sale on ebay a few months ago
  15. read it again, only one bit of that was directed at you, the very first bit. look honey, you cant get all uptight telling this guy he shouldnt do it, because you dont like his reasons for doing it, then go and get all pissy when someone tells you, you shouldnt do it to your car. granted, doing it your way will be alot better but thats not the point
  16. where is the vaccum line from the guage run to? before or after throttle body? car probly wouldnt run if there was no vaccum....

  18. uuummm......... anyway, to the thread starter: dont bother, 1. this will cost alot more than you think, and will take alot longer than you think, by the time you complete it, you'd probly be off your P's anyway 2. even in NA form, you car will have more than enough balls to drift. if your really keen, spend a little on suspenion, get a decent diff etc, possibly even shorter gears (dont know what options you have here though). stripe some weight out of it too. you should be able to hold it on the limiter in 2nd easy enough, with stockers/gay tyres, you could probly try 3rd even, although i dont like your chances (havent driven an NA so cant really say). when you add up the cost of these mods you wanna do, wouldnt it just be easier to buy an R31 and drift that on weekends? that way its cheaper when you blow it up/stack it etc, and you stil have a car to get to work on monday
  19. i think your mates just stuck in a pric of a situation. i think this is just one of the bugs that need to be ironed out of the system, and theres gonna be f*ck all you can do about it unfortunately....

R31, with vlt conversion and s13 suspension, r32 brakes. would be right on the limit of your budget but doable i think. either that or an old corolla, be it older rwd, or later fwd model. early civics are a chance too bike? or one of those small things that use bike engines but look like V8 supercars. how much are they worth?

  23. yeah mph doesnt seem to get effect greatly by tyres/ratios/60ft time. hp vs weight, you should get pretty damn close to the mph regardless of setup, unless your talking about something rediculous that you have to pedal the whole way down the 1/4 edit - refer to morosso calculator for what your car 'should' run
  24. is it a really rapid, machine gun sort of missfire? or does it just randomly pop/cough/fart a bit?
