  1. Yeah, plenty of these cars you see around are just funny to watch. thanks to the stupidly stiff suspension they bounce around worse than a vn commodore that's sitting on the bump stops. People seem to think that stiff coilovers are going to make the car handle like it's on rails. This might be the case if you drive around on a big sheet of glass, but in most roads a car with stock suspension will out perform a car that bounces around all over the place
  2. R35 gtr going along eumundi noosa road (in Noosaville) at about 2:35pm, just as the ambulance was going the other way.
  3. I have tested that theory and from memory it was right, but this was about 5 years ago now.
  4. Lol, yes i do always say that, and for good reason. As for the thermostat, if it isn't working properly then it well take a while to come up to some sort of temp, and will never reach normal temp. This is because it isn't fully closing when cold. This will also mean that the ecu runs in the cold temp section of the maps, where it uses more fuel. As for replacing it, just get a genuine Nissan one. The nismo ones are a lower temp unit and not quite as good for street use.
  5. Thermostat is probably causing the low temp issue. As for the boost, depends on the turbo, tune and a few other factors, but if it isn't a big aftermarket turbo then there is an issue
  6. Rb25 won't get 200kw on the stock turbo at 10psi without an extremely dodgy tune and a happy dyno.
  7. Probably hicas, but might be worth getting a wheel alignment.
  8. If you like the r33 then get a r33. Asking for others opinions will only get you answers you won't agree with. For example, i don't like the r32 and the only r32 i would own would be a very tidy gtr, but it wouldn't be my first choice., as for me, the 32 looks too dated, and the rb25 is a better engine, thanks to more torque and more power. Full boost by well under 3000rpm.
  9. Why didn't you just buy a car you could legally drive? Why do you think that the restrictions shouldn't apply to you? Sorry for snapping, but there have been a few of these types of threads popping up lately, so the whole "how can i use a loop hole to let me drive a car I'm not supposed to" thing is getting a bit old. And i also have a mate who is going to try for an exemption as well, just because he is a jdm fanboi and rather than fix a few minor issues with his current non jdm, fwd car that is fine for driving through the city in peak hour traffic, he wants to spend a heap of money (well a few grand, so he will be looking at the very low end of the import market) on something jdm, shit handling (he wants something dropped stupidly low so it will bounce off the road on a rough corner) with stupid offset wheels, and rwd (cause rwd handles soooo much better at 15kmh in peak hour city traffic). So my tolerance for this sort of thing is long gone
  10. Unless you actually take note of hire many litres of fuel you put in you can't say whether or not you are actually getting bad economy or not. everyone's gauge will read slightly suddenly, and everyone will class "a tank" as a slightly different point on the gauge. Plus a faulty gauge can mean that that the gauge shows empty with there actually 1/3 of a tank. i can drive 60kms to work once the fuel light comes on in my car, trip computer will show 0kms to empty by the time i get there, yet when i filled up it turned out i still had 10l left in the tank. but now my light comes on about 60kms earlier, yet my economy is unchanged (i use an app on my phone to keep track of my fuel usage and it calculates my economy). So if i purely went off my gauge, if think my economy was getting worse, but it isn't. Moral of the story, calculate your economy in L/100kms and then you will get more accurate answers as to whether your economy is poor or not.
  11. I don't know much about the nbn, nor do i really care. What i will say is that until such time that it is better value than adsl2 (in terms of data allowance vs dollars spent) i won't be connecting to it. Adsl2 is plenty fast for what i need (with peak speed about 1.4mb/s). And sure the nbn may have plenty of potential, but potential doesn't always mean it will work out that way. Especially when the government (either side) is involved. So because of that alone i think it is safe to say that nismoid's prediction of it going over budget and under used will be somewhat accurate.
  12. Yep, that's me.And as for "what's the difference between hooning in a turbo or a natro?" From the post above alex's, quite a lot. More power means more speed. I'm no saint in the road, I've done plenty if stupid things, mainly when i was on my p's too. And i have to say that even when not on my p's, the times when i had my 180sx and my r33 where the times i did the most stupid stuff on a more regular basis. Why? Because it was so easy to. Just simply kick the clutch and even at 80 or 90kmh you can get the rear end out. Or floor it on a bit of a straight road and you're banging on the speed limiter (or be past where it would be if the ecu was stock), while in a natro you'd only just have broken the speed limit.
  13. Webber boned himself by running into vergne. As for his wheel coming loose, same mechanic that controls the fueling?
  14. some very good racing this weekend. certainly showed why it deserves it's place at the top of australian motorsport. plenty of close racing, with a bit of panel rubbing. as far as viewing goes, it really does make f1 look pretty boring, where the cars being within a few metres of each other only really happens on behind a safety car
  15. sure you did it legally, but through a loop hole. you decided that the law shouldn't apply to you and so you decided to try for the loop hole which is only really there for people who need to drive a turbo vehicle because their parents own on and they NEED to drive it, or their work vehicle is turbo and they NEED to drive it. not because some kid likes skylines and decides he's going to buy one regardless of what the law says beccause, well, f**k it, he damn well WANTS to drive a skyline like the cool kids! and despite what he says about driving sensibly, it won't be long before he's racing cars off from the lights and doing burnouts and generally doing more damage to the already fragile image of import owners and enthusiasts.
  16. how many litres are you calling a full tank? without knowing that the economy issue is useless. you might as well say that you are getting 1 hour of driving to 3 Bernards of fuel. it means nothing. and low rpm doesn't always mean better economy. you would probably get better economy using 4th gear at 60kmh.
  17. Well done on replying to a thread from 2006......
  18. It may have been cheap but the running costs (fuel) is going to end up costing you much more than if you'd bought a cheap 4 cylinder. You have to run it on premium and your economy will be poor compared to a natro 4 cylinder. I hope you thought about all this, and the day to day practicalities if owning a turbo car when you are a uni student (who generally don't have much money). And as Alex said, there are plenty of people who respect the law and don't act like a spoilt brat (not a dig at you personally, but all platers who buy a turbo car then try for an exemption).
  19. Blue lights are harder to see. I tried them in mine for all if about 5 mins.

    Defects

Have to agree. there are plenty of mods that you can get defected for. If you do those mods knowing that you could get booked for them then you can't really complain about getting booked. It would be like complaining because a cop booked you for doing burnouts, etc
  21. He used to. Look up his website (google ecutalk)
  22. I too thought they were consult, and that plug looks just like the consult plug in the missus' pulsar. If you decide to get a new cable, i use a ecutalk cable that is usb. Not the cheapest, but i've been happy with it, and it's made by a member of this forum.
  23. You will actually find that a natro with a turbo booked on will put out more power and be more responsive than a factory turbo at the same boost level because the natro runs higher compression. The issue us that a natro with a turbo will be more probe to pinging/detonation so you are restricted by how much boost you can run before it starts to ping, which will be lower than what you can run on a factory turbo engine.
  24. Sounds like your alternator is dying, and that's why the lights are dimming. As fir the handbrake light, check your brake fluid. It's probably low.
  25. you should ask old mate from a few pages back about a supplement free diet to help with your recovery, lol
