  1. little side story on weights, back when I had my shop I also sold a bit of sports gear. Had a rep that sold the York fitness gear, as well as other fitness gear in. he was telling me about some of the weights they had gotten in cheap. when weighed there was some variances on the claimed weight vs actual weight. sometimes the difference was substantial. from memory the biggest difference was about 20% on a 20kg weight.
  2. +1 for checking the hazard button. If that is disconnected (or not working) then your indicators won't work
  3. My uncle has to have his prostate remove because of cancer. He's only in his early 40's.
  4. Can't actually remember it happening. I remember just before the crash, and then i remember standing there knowing something was wrong with my neck. Didn't start to bleed till about 10 seconds later. I had to pick the bike up, get it started and then ride to get help. As for pain, it was just more of a burning sensation
  5. I'd be too scared to use a safety razor because i have scars on my neck from a motorbike accident i had 15 years ago.
  6. This. Make sure you shave with the hair. So in most cases that is down, not up
  7. Not sure if skylines have them (assume they would), but it may be the bush/bearing on the top if the strut tower/shock is a bit ordinary
  8. Could be that you are getting a little low on gas. My commodore does it when it gets low on gas (has a slow leak in the compressor and needs regassing every 18 months or so).
  9. I used to be somewhat jealous of the guys who used to have to shave in highschool. Now I'm 30 and i get annoyed that i have to shave and am glad that i can get away with only shaving every 7 to 10 days (start to look a bit rough after 7). I also don't like being freshly shaven. Sweating when freshly shaven annoys me. At least on my face. Freshly shaven legs feel nice.... And i just use a cartridge razor.
  10. Silver r34 came in Venture drive in Noosa yesterday. From memory the owner's name is earl. Don't know if he is on here or not
  11. Yeah it was.
  12. Yeah i saw it near the mechanics down behind Toyota. Didn't have any plates on it
  13. saw an orange r33 in gympie today near coles. looked nice. then i spotted a harlequin r33 gts-t with GTR badges front and rear. i face-palmed
  14. i'm guessing that your car has somewhat stiff suspension (such as coil overs). the stiffer the suspension, the more likely you are to get 3 wheels off the ground. a mate had a ceffy lowered with super hard coil overs and if you tried to jack the car up to change a front wheel, you'd barely get the front wheel off the ground and the rear would start lifting too, where as a car with soft suspension that is stock height will be able to get further off the ground without the other wheel on the same side coming off the ground. this is because the suspension on the wheel diagonal to the one you are lifting will compress more, and the other wheel on the same side to the one you are lifting will have more travel to stay on the ground. and you will find that he has jacked it up off the main lifting points. he's jacked it up from the same point as where a mechanic would put the blocks when using a 2 post hoist.
  15. Just looked up the nbn rollout for my area. We aren't in the first 3 year roll out plan. My guess is that we will be getting it somewhere closer to the 2020 completion date for the actual nbn. From other posts in this thread I'd thought the completion date was 2015, but according to the nbn site, that is for the transit network (basically joins all the main exchanges). But the roll out to everyone's homes may take another 5 years, so its going to be a while before i have to start looking at plans.
  16. The latch hasn't gone into the closed position? Maybe try pulling the release. Had this happen before on other cars
  17. I've called you worse
  18. it doesn't count if they aren't racing you, lol.
  19. what gap were the plugs you put in, and what gap were the ones you took out? if you aren't sure, what part number were the ones you put in? running plugs with a smaller gap can help with misfiring if your coils are weak, which most are on skylines these days if they are the original ones (given how old they are now). most people run plugs with a gap of 0.8mm to help with misfiring. the stock gap is 1.1mm. so if the plugs you bought have a 11 at the end of the part number then there is a good chance they are 1.1mm gap plugs and are showing that your coils are weak. if your old plugs were only the 0.8mm gap then that would explain why it ran better with them, but if they are old then the gap has probably grown a bit and is up around 0.9 or 1mm.
  20. yeah callan is spot on. when the engine is cold it uses more fuel. when the engine is cold fuel doesn't vapourise as much, and it is actually the fuel vapour that burns, not the liquid fuel. a side effect is that this actually reduces the engines power output by a small amount and keeps the compustion temps down, which is good when the engine block is still cold (you don't want it heating up too quickly). if you have a mower/trim that has a choke on it that is a seperate lever, pull the air filter off and have a look at what happens when you turn the choke on. lots of them will simply slide a restrictor over the inlet to the carby. that is a mechanical way of doing it. engines with an ecu can simply make the injectors inject more fuel. as for the cooling system, there are generally only 2 causes for overheating (with the odd exception). 1 is the thermostat, the other is the radiator. if the thermostat isn't up to scratch then sometimes they won't open and close properly. not closing properly is generally easy to tell because the engine will take ages to warm up. not opening properly is harder to tell because you generally don't know it until the car overheats. but usually, if it isn't closing properly it probably won't open properly either. for the radiator, if it is a bit blocked then it may still be fine for everyday use, but it may get a bit hot on very hot days if you get stuck in traffic and are sitting still, or when giving the car a hard time. a quick and easy way to diagnose a blocked radiator is to take the car for a short drive (just to get the engine a little warm) and then pull over, turn the engine off and pop the bonnet. run your hand over the fins of the radiator and feel for cold spots. if you find a section of the radiator that is much colder than the areas around it then there is a good chance there is a blockage in that section of the radiator. to fix it you either need to have it professionally cleaned, or to buy a new radiator. those radiator flush products you can buy won't do a thing.
  21. yep traah221 is spot on. other than the coils, as already mentioned, use all the things like afm, tps and any other 3 letter abreviation you can think of from your old engine on the new one and it should be fine.
  22. from my experience, the difference between highflow panel filters and stock filters can vary between makes of car. the design of the intake and airbox, as well as the filter itself, will determine whether you will get any gains from changing the filter at all. i've change the filter of various cars i've owned over the years. some hasn't made a scrap of difference, others have made a noticable difference (not a huge difference, but you could notice the difference).
  23. reading that just made my head hurt. think of it this way. if a young guy's car breaks down and he decides to push it out of the way of traffic, and then he gets help from an old man, it will still be easy to push with both of them, or harder for just the young guy buy himself. having the old guy pushing the car as well isn't going to make it harder to push just because he isn't as strong as the young guy. as for adding engine power for 2 engines, it really is that simple. of course if they were to use some sort of weird transmission system to join the engines then the resistance of that may alter the output values, but if the electric motor simply drives the wheels directly, or is attatched directly to the crank shaft then it will be transferring all of its power.
  24. what spring rates did you have? i bet they weren't 11 or 12kg springs like what some people put in. ones like the tiens only have about 8kg springs and will actually ride well. i had some unknown rate coil overs put in the front of my 180sx when i still had it. they were in there for 3 days before i pulled them out and put the old shocks with the old lowered springs back in. i went around a corner near home at 40kmh and started to bounce onto the wrong side of the road. i could normally take it at about 60kmh and be on the verge of losing traction.
