  1. Hi everyone Im seeking a alternator to fit a R32 GTR skyline as mines on the blink. Ive had it rebuilt once two years ago and it's now died again. Not really too sure if 2 years is good from a rebuild or not, so meh. I dont have a huge amount of money right now being end of year exams etc so id just like to replace it with a second hand unit to get me out of trouble. Im not really too sure what their worth 2nd hand so you'll have to make me an offer. If i can afford it and i dont think its outrageous I will pay it. Regards Ian
  2. I got a happy snap one night going through a yellow here in brisbane. Was yellow when I entered the intersection and yellow when I exited. I dont think i was over the speed limit in any major way (5 kph tops?). I never saw or heard anything about it, was in a crowded area however so the embarrassment of setting the flash off was bad enough.
  3. Wow go easy on the poor bloke guys. Im sure the vast majority of people on this forum have had minor acco's like this before. Will Power (best name ever) clipped a wall at indy and crashed as a result, does that mean hes a bad driver? A little while ago I backed my mates car into my gf's jet black echo at night that I HAD PARKED THERE, lol. I forgot about it, couldnt see it because skyline reverse lights arent exactly awesome and backed into it. He was good about it and got a good price to repair and spent some time finding a decent price for the reverse light that i broke, but I paid what he asked without question. *technically* he parked it across my driveway (true story) and I suppose you could argue he parked illegally before I got in it but it'd be a gutless spineless thing to do. Morally your at fault, id just pay up. The moment you get the law and lawyers and courts involved, you cant be friends with the person sitting across the other side of the table. Maybe if he was a particularly good mate he'd try and help you out as best he could like my mate did, but he doesn't have to. my 2 c.
  4. ive copped it before sitting at the lights in peak hour traffic moving 20 meters at a time. Some late-20's early-30's bloke gave it to me just as he was turning off. Im sure everyones copped something like that in the past, but half the time the motivations of some people giving it to us have nothing to do with us and have more to do with them needing to feel the big man/woman or to prop themselfs up, and we were the closest sterotype that a current afair told them they could abuse without being politically incorrect. I just shrug it off. I baught my car to put a smile on my face, not anyone elses.
  5. wtf? i cant edit? Anyway, never mind on the brake master, turns out mines fine was another problem which i have now fixed. Revised offer: 300 for alternator and FMIC. Will need pics of the FMIC and a guarantee the alternator is working.
  6. Hey mate id be intrested in: (depending on condition) Your brake Master, Alternator and FMIC. Willing to pay $400 + shipping - Dont know if this is a reasonable offer or not, no idea what their worth sorry. Let me know Regards Ian
  7. Hi all I have just installed new front rotors and pads on my 32 GTR and im getting bad brake squeal, im usure of why. I have DBA 4000 rotors with bendix ultimate pads and despite not needing to bed in bendix pads, i gave it a chop anyway just to be sure. Also, there are these weird rings appearing on my rotors. As far as I can see, theres nothing touching the rotor except the pad, but theres these 4 rings, one on each side of each rotor (so in and out side of both rotors for a total of 4) in exactly the same place on all 4 rotors. There doesnt seem to be any sort of cutting into the rotor tho, if I run my hand over it, it is perfectly smooth. I'll get some pics up later tonight, heading to uni now. Any ideas? Regards Ian
  8. pwned. There was never any doubt anyway, google provided all the proof you need. There is a video on youtube of the entire lap with the tyres after that. The fact that porche is resorting to properganda and lies to win sales says all I need to know about that company.
  9. Aus version just doesnt do it for me. Seems aimed at the older, more mature, less right-boot inclined audience. Espically how they opened up with a review of the 4wd off-road style soft-roader market (that, surprisingly, did not include the ford territory?). I dont think Australia has a diverse enough car market for this show to survive. UK TG has all of europe to draw from and a much larger financial base behind it, Aus TG seemed like a cheap knock-off to me. Espically the stunt with the sharks, who imagined that one? It was lame. Also the humour is bad, that short guy in the checkered shirt kept making really, really bad racially orintated jokes. They simply arent up to the same level of showmanship as Richard, Jeremy and Captin Slow. And the track they have is shit. Which i saw coming. Theres nothing wrong with using one of the established motor sport tracks (just not QR, its equally as shit) we have. It seems to be aimed to allow Aussie cars to do well on. Many straights, less corners, holden fans will love it. I dunno. It just seemed amaturish to me. Which is basically all I expected from a TG financed by the SBS.

    Eoi: Next Cruise?

me and my gf were going to head down to the gc this sunday so we might tag along
  11. can I pls get pics of the intercooler? Do you know if theres any signifigant difference between them and the R32 item?
  12. I dont think noel has defamed anyone yet, hes just made a statement of fact as to what happened - the ball is in jims court now as to what happens next.
  13. Yeahhhh i was looking at getting a JB as my next clutch, might hold off until this is sorted out...
  14. Hi all I have a 32 GTR that i need to replace the clutch in. I have a limited budget and I cannot afford 1800 for a nismo coppermix twin, however I might be able to come up with 1400 for a cusco metal twin or an exceedy metal twin. The car is daily driven with the odd trip to the track and fairly regular trips out to my local drag strip. What im wanting to know is anyones experciances with either the cusco metal twin or the exceedy metal twin, what they can and cannot stand for in the way of launching and motorsport, how long they last and the price of a rebuild once they start to slip. Also recomendations for other clutch's are welcome. I have looked into jim berry clutch's already and for my own reasons have decided against going with one. Power output it will need to handle is aprox 350 hp //edit the OS Giken twin is another option, however how streetable are they?
  15. Hey col what about a sub forum where every workshop gets its own thread, no stickies and people can leave comments and feedback in that workshops thread?
  16. Hi, just a quick question about that photo, the date reads 23/3/2007 which is a year and then some change old... proves nothing...
  17. Had this in a mates 33 GTST we replaced his plugs with standard copper ones which come gapped to 8mm and the problem went away.
  18. Ok, i put coppers in and they seem to run fine, old plugs were quite worn and have gone in the bin. New fuel filter as well. Initially I noticed a power gain and it almost felt normal, now im not so sure. It seems to be running very rich, much more then normal? Im on half a tank from a full tank and ive only done 120 k's (with a spirited, but boost turned right down run up and down my local hill), and there seems to be alot of black spray on the ground around near the exhaust pipe where the car is normally parked. Could over-fueling be causing the problem with the power? Theres been no changes in the cars setup for a while now, what would cause it to run richer all of a sudden? Im tossing up if I should shell out the coin for a retune before I go blowing nearly 100 bucks on just a power run. However im thinking there might be a leaky injector? I cant smell any fuel when I open the bonnet, what else could I look for? The car pops and backfires alot, more then normal, could this indicate that there is still an exhaust leak I have not found? Would this affect preformance and economy?
  19. +1 It seems he came here trying to start a fight? Or when his shameless plug was exposed did he just resort to us v aus insults?
  20. In Before the Lock ps lol pps To get this striaght, what MJTru is saying is heres a boost controller that can give you awesome preformance in an otherwise stock car? See heres my preped drag car for an example. But GTR's are slow and thats why your dollar is weak? And pls ignore the fact that mine is too?
  21. Ok new fuel filter and plugs tomorrow, car needs new oil in 1000k however I dont want to change it now cause then the oil changes will be out at weird numbers :|. Hows that vac reading sound to you? Fine or too little?
  22. Not bad suggestions. I dont know if its the clutch,it may be but it doesnt really feel like clutch slip. The fuel filter is a good point its quite old, ill replace it tomorrow. How do you tell if the plugs are dead or not? Plugs arent terribly cheap, however the other night we put copper standard plugs in a mates RB25 and it runs fine, so maybe they might be worth giving a go. I got under the car today and found another 2 missing nuts (again on the exhaust flange of the front turbo), I replaced one however the other is prooving rather difficult to get to and ill have another go tomorrow. The car sounds much smoother and seems to rev nicer now with the exhaust leak (nearly) fixed up however it still just doesnt feel fast enough. The boost controller reports only -17 or -18 in.HG vacume, when i thought it should normally report 20? Could this indicate a boost leak? ive been over the intake side of things pretty throughly and cant find anything, and boost seems to be holding strong. I'll replace the fuel filter tomorrow and then see how we go, if its still not feeling right ill get a power run and see what that says.
  23. Hi all Bit of background info first: Car: R32 GTR (RB26DETT) Turbos: R34 N1 Compression: 175, 170, 170, 168, 170, 170 (cold) (done tonight) Oil Preassure: Fine - Electronic sender was replaced recently and stock gauge works quite well, reports normal oil pressure Water Temps: Normal ECU: PFC AFMS: Stock Other power mods: Minimal. Blitz SBC2 controller, light mods such as oil cooler catch can etc Boost: 16.5 PSI 85% inj duty Injectors: Stock Recently out at the drags I ran some rather disappointing times. The problem is the car seems to be developing less then normal power. Normally I run around a 12.9 however on my first run I ran a 14 flat. I put it down to the fact that I hadnt dragged in a while, and there was a open lane, so I did another run, which was a 15.0. The car started to develop some noises so I parked it and watched for the rest of the night. The noises turned out to be several of the nuts on my exhaust flange on the front turbo (between the turbo and 02 sensor) missing - I replaced 2 and the noise has gone away, however the problem remains. It is possible that there are more nuts missing from this flange as I have to get under the car and have a good look to be certain. On the way out to the drag strip I wasn't pushing it overly hard (it would be rather ironic to be fined for speeding on the way to the drags) however on the few pokes I did give it, I thought it felt a bit slow, so I think the problem has developed either on the way their or shortly before hand. The problem seems to be that the car simply isnt pulling hard enough for the level of boost its getting. Its still boosting up cleanly and as quickly as normal, and holding boost at the right levels, but it just seems to lack urgency. Is a exhaust leak post-turbo enough to cause this? I have had conflicting opinions, one mate of mine who studys mech. engineering says any leak after the turbo shouldn't effect it however ive had others tell me that backpreassure is required and that this leak will be sufficent to slow the car down. What I want to know is should I be hunting for more problems? What could the effects of a exhaust leak here be? I also noticed very poor economy on this tank of petrol since the problems developed, this may be however because I am pushing the car harder to get the desired result from the motor, however the leak is pre-o2 sensor, and I am curious as to if this could effect it? I have been told that the PowerFC's dont adjust AFR's on the go and that the o2 sensors are only for idle. o2 sensor voltage remains constant at 5.xx volts (im not entirely sure of the decimal, however it never changes) for both o2 sensors for both turbos, if this is of any help. Thanks for all the help and if i have left out any details you need please ask. Cheers Ian
  24. Dont underestimate the MX5's, there strong cars for what they are, awesome in the twisties and fairly economical. Girlfriend has one. Ive driven it, and its much more direct and chrisper then my GTR was when it was stock. But its got nothing on the GTR for power (obviously) and yes, ehm, ill only drive it if my girlfriend is sitting next to me. Mazda Familia GTR is a dangerous buy, having come from a mazda astina with the motor out of one of them (well, a GTX, but similiar) I will warn of potential problems due to their age, and their taste for gearbox's. For his budget and his aims I think the MX5 is really the way to go, get the hardtop version as they are slightly less hairdresser spec.
  25. Its a well known fact that the ceramic dust from ceramic turbos dieing can lunch RB26's. Dont ask me how, exactly, it gets up in there, but I would hazzard a guess it has something to do with the huge RPM that the turbos run.
