Unless you have a problem with them, I work at repco, I put a brand new GMB water pump for a RB30 on my 26 and its fine. Handles anything I can throw at it. I run stock rad, 16 PSI and it runs cooler then the stock pump did. It cost me very little. What it costs the public I dont know, shouldnt be too much. If it was over 150 bucks id be very surprised.

why cant they just remove the front wheel drive shafts and the shaft that go's from the gearbox forward?

I wounder what the guy reaching into it is trying to do? Cut-off switch or something? The drivers side would be the other side unless its left hand drive?

Hi everyone Its time for me to replace the tyres on my car, and ive been looking at my options. I was considering a set of 235/45/17 federal 595's (not the RS variant) - I current have the same tyre in a 245/45/17 but there worn through. I can get them fitted and balanced for ~120 a corner. Another cheap option I have seen are Durun Sport One tyres and Gemstone Max Sport tyres. I can find little info on these tyres on the internet and am trying to make an informed decision - I am seeking peoples opinions on these tyres? What im chasing is a tyre thats going to last for a while and still provide acceptable grip. I know more resistance to wear = less grip, but im hoping to find a comprimise. Im a uni student and can not longer afford to replace tyres reguarlly on my car. What do you people think? Another option im looking into are Nexen 3000's.

What are the options for under 25? Shannons said they wont insure anything twin turbo. So apparently if I go get a single turbo manifold and chuck a T51 on there its fine, but a couple of R34 N1's is out of the question... Famous were just plain rude. Just car will give me 1597 a year on a aggreed value of 23.5. Not too bad all things considered, but id like to at least see if I can get a competitive quote.

+1 for godzilla, my experciances with them have been positive. I aggree with what andy says about mercury, they are either good or really bad, ive had experciances with them both ways.

I think it was changed, but the rooted tailshaft centre bearing has caused it to fark itself. It doesnt seem to make noise when the foot is off the clutch tho... more like when its half way up the travel of the pedal (engagement point) but not all the way off and its in gear / under load. i should make a recording of it.

Hey duncan / others (sorry to dredge up an old thread and hijack it), I have an issue that may be related to this - my car for some time now has seemed very clunky when changing gears - it has now started making a noise that could be described as chattering or kinda a muffled grinding noise when bringing the clutch out and putting power down - it is fine once the clutch is all the way out however. I think that the tailshaft centre bearing is rooted. Would you aggree? I also think it has created other problems which is what is causing the noise. I dont know however what it has rooted to make this noise and am after opinions. I initially thought the spigot might be gone, but there is no noise while the clutch is all the way in / out or the gearbox is out of gear? could it be the throwout / thrust bearing? Cheers Ian

Kay If you were paying attention to the history which your so keen on, youd know Australia is supposed to be a place where people give each other a fair go. Hummph. I guess I should clarify - 9 / 10 or more commo's are owned by ordinary people who take the kids to school then go shopping or whatever and therefore dont count, at least to me. I look at thoes cars and think nothing really, there just another car on the road bog stock soccer mum ect etc. The commos I refer to are the ones people would refer to as tough - the older SS's, v8's etc. The newer ones tend to be too expensive to be affordable to the tough-nut demograph also. My main problem is too many times I have been sitting in traffic or driving through a shoping center ect minding my own business and had some tough guy come up and tell me my asian rice car was a piece of crap and that I should buy a tough holden. The point I am trying to make here, and in my last post, is that this seems to be, at least to me, unique to holden drivers. I have never seen, or heard of, someone or a group of someones, yelling down some random person in a commdore to sell there badly-built POS and buy an import / nissan / skyline. Yet if I was to jump in my car right now (it being quater to 10 at night) and drive down to the local boozer, park infront of the front door, theres a very good chance I would be verbally and possibly physically attacked, unprovoked. Now drive a 1990 V8 commo down and park it in the same place, nothing or nothing bad would be said. I have no doubt this does not apply to all commo drivers, like I said its only a small group of commos which it is applicable to. But its a small percentage of a very high number, like you said, and its enough to be pretty much omni-present in public society today, or at least in the younger aspects of it.

Jah, had a look, saw it getting driving onto the tow truck and away. Quizzed the girls about grey imports, they turned narky, lolz. She also reckoned they are twin charged - last I checked there was no supercharger or NOS but this would be rather cool from factory, no? They wouldnt give me a shirt either, said they were going to sell theres on ebay once this gig is finished. I did get a couple of posters tho

Another show to look at is "Dangerous" on fox 8 - far worse then underbelly IMO, it basically glorified car theft of imports... Someone said holden makes for a market, and that we shouldnt give crap on holdens cause its the same same as giving crap on lines. Well I dont really dislike holden cars. I mean I dont think there a good car, I think there poorly built etc but thats not my beef with them, just a reason why I wouldnt buy one. The main reason I dislike seeing a "tough" commodore is because of the demograph of people who drive them. Hard-nut terry tough-kent wankers for the most part, as thats the market holden caters to. Its why they keep putting bigger motors in there cars rather then trying to say, go a smaller turbo motor or get something like v-tech going. The bogan wankers wouldnt understand how it works. They'd go "less cubes? oh noes!" /end rant.
