(male) Hoons Hit Where It Hurts

Ohhhh I think I understand now!! The pinky gesture means the person making it is limp... And in the ad the people making the gesture are chicks... apparently... And they make the gesture whenever they see 'hoon' behaviour... So basically... ...dont do burnouts if you wanna give trannies a stiff. -
Afc Neo Installation Costs And Tune?
swanny180 replied to cliff25gtst's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey sidd, sobered up now so my opinion may make slightly more sense now Oh and I didnt set mine up, Dale from Castle Hill Exhaust did. But yeah basically an SAFC only controls airflow, and does so by correcting the signal sent from the airflow meter. Unlike a full management system it has no control over ignition timing. Also, an SAFC doesnt take engine load into account, only RPM. Basically it just increases or decreases the amount of fuel being injected into the engine at incremental RPM. It really shouldnt take very long at all to set up. All your tuner would need to do is a dyno run, mapping AFRs on the dyno sheet too. Seeing where the engine was running too rich and running too lean, they then would just add or take away fuel where required till they have the desired fuel curve, and viola thats it. It really shouldnt be costing very much to set up and definitely shouldnt take an hour on the dyno to tune it either. In 1.5 hours a good workshop should be able to install *and* tune it to be honest, its really not an overly complex task and the way the unit functions is quite simple. If you are in any doubt, ask the tuner what *exactly* youre paying for, and what exactly they need to do. Hope that helps -

Afc Neo Installation Costs And Tune?
swanny180 replied to cliff25gtst's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Wont take that long Sidd, SAFC is quite simple to tune. It only controls the fueling (SAFC stands for super air flow convertor - it literally takes the airflow meter signal and converts it a given percentage higher or lower dependant on the given RPM). Unless the Neo is different from the SAFCII, it definitely shouldnt take long to tune at all, maybe 10 - 20 mins at most? -
Yeah I dont really see the appeal. Actually drive it and you get birdshit mixed with diamonds as soon as you park it... Greeaaat!!

Holy shit are you serious? Thats the ultimate number one gayest thing I have ever f**king seen. *Aside* from the fact that it looks shit, would kill performance and makes you out to be a complete dipshit for actually spending money putting one on your car, I have one question... Why in f**ks name would anyone have a gun where their exhaust is? That doesnt make any f**king sense!?!

What are you talking about? Those turbos *are* stock... Its just a... 'nismo' model? Hahaha f**kin crazy car, would love to hear it revving its guts out

2 Litre, 4 Cylinder And 6 Second Quarter Mile?
swanny180 replied to deant1's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Uhhh I dont think the amazing thing is that it was an Eclipse... Its the fact they ran that sort of a time at that sort of an MPH with a 2L 4cyl engine that is unbelievably amazing. Goes to show how impressive the American drag racing scene is when you think thats comparable to the times Signorelli is running with a 3L 6cyl 2J in his Camry... Awesome, awesome car -
How To Make A Rice Burner Run 14's

Read that ages ago, its still hilarious the second time Great read!! -
Ive used them for 0-100 in two different cars (my friend actually owned it) Its pretty good fun to use, and seemed to be fairly accurate (judging the 0-100 times against the HP from dyno runs)

Turbocharger layout looks to make a lot more sense in the photo of the actual engine compared to in the image. But yeah, awesome vid. And the turbos do look a tad small dont they? But I guess there *is* four of them...

Sr20det Compaired With Rb20det
swanny180 replied to Rsktker's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Mate, ffs do some research on this yourself. Theres a billion threads floating around on everything youre asking here. SR20s will make 250kw, but they *generally* wont do so reliably. You may get luck and find one holds together for a reasonable period of time making that sort of power, you may find an SR will die making significantly less. Its just luck of the draw, and making that sort of power you are more likely to have it fail. The RB20 vs SR20 debate has been covered I cant even remember how many times. SEARCH for it. Theyre different engines. Read up on the characteristics of each and decide for yourself. You also need to actually think a little bit here. Saying 'oh I have 23k to spend on a 180 and want 200 - 250kw out of it' is stupid. No two ways about it. First of all, what are you using this car for? Street? Strip? Drift? Track? A mix of a couple or all of those things? Thats going to help you determine the second thing you need to consider... EXACTLY what do you want from the engine? '200 - 250kw' is NOT good enough. You need to be more specific or youll end up f**king around and spending far more than what you want to. Do you want a very reliable package? Do you want a dyno queen pumping out a specific amount of power? How much response do you need? Are you willing to open up the engine to get your power goal? The difference between 200 and 250kw is huge. Its simply too broad a target to say that you want about that sort of power and thats it. Why dont you actually find someone with a 180 making around the 200kw mark (which isnt hard to do reliably, with good response, without opening the engine, and without spending a crazy amount), and see what you think, so at least you have SOME kind of knowledge as to what a 200kw SR in a 180 is like? Point is it doesnt matter what sort of random numbers you have floating around in your head. Youre not going to get anywhere till you actually know what they translate to in practice. -
Yeah 323 would be a better option IMO. I have a 94 model astina and its been great as a run around. Cheap on fuel, heaps reliable, and loads better build quality inside than other comparably priced second hand small cars.

Twin Turbo Straight Six Cylinder Engine
swanny180 replied to Forged's topic in General Automotive Discussion
TBH I think its a tad stupid trying to argue that RB26 is better or worse than this BMW inline 6. RB26 = ~18 or so year old engine which was basically designed (more or less) as a homologated racing engine, and obviously with different emissions, power, noise etc restrictions. BMW 6 = current engine meant for a luxury car, with current emissions standards etc. Both are brilliant engines. Both are rated relatively conservatively. (26 makes more power than claimed, BMW has potential to make plenty more simply through being detuned it would seem) Most importantly: Both although similar in configuration, are completely different in terms of purpose and design era. Youll be going in circles trying to compare the two properly -

Anyone know if the driver of BLODIS is ok? Was a really huge stack... Myself and most others in the crowd got to our feet in shock when it happened... Otherwise was a good even IMO, some very good racing and some damn impressive times. Signorelli is incredibly quick in the camry, surprised he didnt go further... -
R33 Gts-t Outcast Huge$$, Very Quick, Must Sell
swanny180 replied to outcastr33's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
If youre going to ask around double what most people would list an R33 for, you might want to actually spend the time typing out whats been done to it to justify the (in my opinion) excessively high price. Dont think it really cuts it just saying 'ring for details'. EDIT: Not trying to knock your sale or anything, but youre really wont be getting much interest unless you actually give people *some* info here, eg manual/auto? Ks? Modifications? Accident history? etc
