Cusco R30 Front Strut Brace And F&r Pillow Tops
Ghostrider replied to tir31's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
How many people would be interested in the strut brace if it was available @ $100 - $150.00 made out of Chrome Molly & Stainless Steel? -
mate u werent even sure about it. simple question only needed a simple answer. not some smart ass on his high horse. I have the DBA rear Z31 slotted rotors in my garage. I also have a couple of sets of genuine DR30 rear rototrs. If you look up the DBA web site and look at the catalogue, you will find the following: 300ZX All Z31 Models 1/84 - 9/85 F 608 3 V ented 274 35.5 22 20 81 4 R 605 3 Solid 290 47 10 9 68 4 R30 GTS FJ20DET 1982 - 85 F 608 3 V ented 274 35.5 22 20 81 4 R 600 3 Solid 258 47 10 9 68 4 IF your intelligent enough, you can see that DBA say the hat heights are both 47mm and therefore identical, but genuine Nissan OEM DR30 rear rotors have a hat height, physically of 52mm, making a difference of 5mm and therefore needs a spacer to move the position on the floating part of the rear caliper. Depending on the casting the spacer might be 5mm or maybe 6mm so that the caliper centres over the rotor correctly. To do this, you might also need caliper mounting bolts about 5mm longer as I don't think the standard bolts will have enough bite to hold the caliper. There was NEVER any mention of longer studs, or offsets, or anything else your adolescent mind wanted to come up with. Most people on this forum, at least in this CLASSICS SECTION have some mechanical ability and don't need to be quoted chapter and verse to get the job done RIGHT! the first time. I am sure! and was when I answered but expected you to show some intelligence which obviously was my first mistake. My second was thinking you care, which you obviously don't from what you display in your other thread. I have been doing this sort of thing a long time and unlike you, I research what I do before I do it and I have an L Series because my R30 is one of only 3 or 4 in OZ and 1 of just 2000 made by Nissan, making it the rarest of all R30 Skylines, but how could I ever think you could understand that. When I started out, we were putting 289ci Ford V8's in 105E Anglia's and MGB motors in Morris Minors & Austin A30's, at one time we put the 2.5L Buick V8 (now the Rover V8) in a Morris Minor & 327ci Corvette V8 motor into a Rover 105, so go tell someone else to suck eggs, because I have done my time. Have a nice day!

No Hi Horse this time ............................ just quoting FACT! but obviously it's not the answer you were looking for. Before I answered you before I consulted an old business associate, he is a current RTA registered examination/inspection station and was an RTA examiner before that, so I guess he should know his stuff when it comes to NSW registration. They (RTA) have all the books for all the models and what is or isn't or was or wasn't fitted to the car, but, as I guess you know everything so do as you please. JFYI, what happens when you have an accident & maybe injure or kill someone with your DODGY registered car and you are sewed for damages by the CTP insurance company??????? You would need millions behind you as any insurance would become null & void when they find your car is illegal. But you know all the answers eh! and it will never happen to you? ha ha ha ha, go and grow up!

"Replacement half shafts are easier to source, and the HR31 4.3 is alot better with bigger power". Let's see now. HR31's came out with a long nose mechanical R200 & so did the HR/DR30 and both are interchangeable, so why do a complete rear end swap and Z31 half shafts are the best of the best and they're relatively easy to get, unless just trying to impress a few wood ducks?????????? "Also R31 house make a adjustable rear lower arms". Have you enquired into how much this would cost landed in Australia & if you wanted to go racing with this adjustable rear, which class you would be put into? My guess it would put you in SPORTS SEDANS with every known beast available. SWR do adjustable rear trailing arms for about $800.00, but you use them, you become a sports sedan because he uses rose joints in the conversion. "I put a hr31 rear end into my dr was a handy way to go to a 4.3 to get her laggy ass moving with a large turbo, that and I had a mechanical aftermarket diff and a pile of spare hr31 axles". As before, just need to change the diff & KAAZ LSD's are easy to get, in any ratio for about $1500.00. MrMayhem, your credibility on this forum is a fair bit south of zero IMHO because some time back, you shot your mouth off about having a front strut brace FOR SALE, yet when 3 of us sent you messages you went underground and didn't return ANY of the messages sent. Personally I think you're full of sh!t. Cheers, D

Ghostrider replied to big bumpy's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Thank you -
"The major advantage of the hr31 rear end is the extremely large number of diffs you now have to choose from". What do you have in diffs from an HR31 that doesn't fit in DR/MR/HR30????? Please tell me oh so learned one???????
-
"sounds a bit dodge but, wat do u mean by longer bolts ?? longer studs ??correct me if im wrong, but would that affect the track ??" Go do the research yourself, why ask for advice if you think what you get is dodgy. For my money you can fark orf.

Dr30 > Z31 Compatability
Ghostrider replied to datto_boy's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
If you already have DR rear brakes, the stock MR/HR caliper (piston etc assembly) will bolt up to the DR legs to get you by. I believe the Z31 rear caliper (hydraulics) will bolt up to the DR legs with same size piston as DR and for rotors, DBA605 I think is the number, but it's also same as Z31 just hat hieght might be a little less which can be easily fixed with a spacer washer to make up the difference. About 5 or 6mm it is. I'm using RDA rotors on my KHR. -
In NSW NOT A CHANCE! Any idiot can BUY a blue or pink slip, but I think you will hit a snag at the RTA but in any case, if head office happen to screen it they can recall for inspection or just cancel the rego altogether. Your call?

If your using the L24E stumpy gearbox, NO!
-
will the sump off the L24 bolt onto the L28 block?? Profile CardPM Report PostGo to the top of the page +Quote Post Yes! All L series motors have identical external dimensions.
-
Use Z31, same thing! Rotor & Drums Australia #RDA605. Might find the hat heights slightly different but a spacer & maybe longer bolts will fix that.
-
79 on 280ZX was EFI in Oz and if your looking at n/a, the best bits are N42, but the block has to be modified to front sump as all zeds are rear sump pans. Don't be fooled, the old L28, makes good power if modified a bit. A stock RB30E is rated at 114kW at the fly and an L28E is rated at about 103kW so there isn't heaps in it.

Cusco R30 Front Strut Brace And F&r Pillow Tops
Ghostrider replied to tir31's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Be Sure about these before you buy? Are the front strut tops R30 or S13????????? -
If it's a DR sedan, as far as I'm aware the HR front hubs use the same bearings so why not just change the hubs to the 5 stud you have?
-
4 or 5 stud ???????? I have a set of Supra stock rims I am going to list on ebay, starting at about $10 or $20.00 but they are 5 x 114.3 PCD, 16 x 9 rear & 16 x 8 front +50mm offset. I also have a set of 16 x 7 multi drilled 5 stud for 5 x 114.3 & I think Commodore, +35 offset I think from memory. But 4 studs are all staying with me. Sorry! D

Another R30 Pic Thread....
Ghostrider replied to Factory 5's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
I was just curious about canons, because they are illegal in NSW and quickly getting that way nationally. I'm curious why in NSW at least someone would want to put their toy in jeopardy for a bit of noise. -
