  1. Why does everyone opt for canons on the rear instead of twins like the original?
  2. If I was to get up on my high horse like you then I think you should ditch your old heap of an R30 and go get a brand spankers V36 shipped out of the "real" factory in Japan so you can have a proper car. You want to talk about real, or proper cars eh????????? If I was buying a REAL/PROPER CAR as you put it, it wouldn't be coming out of Japan, it would be coming out of the UK with a Plus 300 grand price tag and look like this. You driven one of these? Because I have! Have a nice day!
  3. Bluprint, Can you read? "That being said, depends on how deep your pockets are? Engine: 20W/50 or similar, BP Corse Plus is an excellent oil to start with................ maybe 5W/50 Mobil 1 if your going Synthetic? Transmission, including differential: 75W/90, if you have an LSD it has to be LSD specific .................................... Synthetic is expensive Power Steer: ANY Auto Transmission fluid & again .................................... Synthetic is expensive Brakes: DOT3 or DOT4 spec ................................ Can get DOT5 but I wouldn't bother & it's very very expensive" What is this???????????????????????????????????????
  4. Why do I bother, you obviously know everything there is to know?
  5. B. J. Your missing the point! Outside of being a brick on wheels (about 1350kg) for the poverty pack with zero electrics, it was a result of bureaucratic bungling going very very wrong. The Ozzy R31 came about because of the federal government saying for Nissan to get their import parts into Oz under by-law customs tariff, they had to produce a vehicle with something like 87% Oz content. Hence we got stuffed with the Borg Warner live rear axles and other such crap in a car that handled like a wet rag without a lot of money getting put into it. As for not a real Skyline ............. All jap Skylines came out of Factory 5 in Japan, which was the old Prince factory, which the Oz Skyline never ever got close to. "5w is a bit too thin" ............................. 5W has absolutely nothing to do with the oils viscosity under driving conditions, it is simply what the oil pours at @ low to zero temperature. Mobil 1 5W/50 is a 50 weight oil, not a 5 as you suggest. Hence why I suggested BP Corse Plus as that is 25W/60 I think from memory. Remember this, the lower the first number the faster your oil gets to the top of the engine on cold start and the less time without oil in the bores etc. "Genuine stuff is the way to go" ............................ Nissan DO NOT make oil filters or air filters, they out source them to a company in OZ called AFM, Australian Filter Manufacturers, who are a subsidiary of RYCO and responsible for the manufacture of probably 90% of all filters sold in Oz today. As for the genuine Nissan oil, they don't make that either, it's also out sourced, but manufactured to their specs. As for your claim of being great for conversions etc, the stock Oz R31 front struts still have the same 3.5" centres front caliper mounts so to upgrade to better the strut needs to be changed just like the MR30 does. In an MR30, which by the way can be purchased in relatively good condition for UNDER a grand, has IRS standard and everything from the DR is BOLT ON, no mods and to do an RB conversion, the same engine cross member is used as for L24E. How easier do you want it than that and nothing from the imported HR31 can be put on the rear BW live axle without extensive modifications. I have DR 290mm rear rotors on my KHR30, just bolt on, I have BNR32 GTR 296mm front brakes and outside of machining the stock DR hubs, they were just bolt on, I have a 10" booster & 1" master cylinder. How you get that in an Ozzy R31 without extensive modifications? You are driving a modified car, modified by Gibson Motorsport and sold as a special vehicle, much the same as HSV & Tickford & FPV do today for GMH & Ford and therefore has no relevance to an R31 Silhouette with all the poverty pack running gear. Cheers, D
  6. You might have to get on a queue for your PNV. If I had the space it would already be here, but I believe there is some interest from down south for that one. Cheers, D
  7. B. J. ???????? Do you have any idea what you just said??????????? I bet you have No F@#king Idea. I would even hazard a guess that you know SFA about why there was an ozzy built Skyline. D
  8. He's right! Ozzy built Skyline is a BRICK on wheels and a not to good one at that. A culmination of bureaucratic bungling going all wrong! That being said, depends on how deep your pockets are? Engine: 20W/50 or similar, BP Corse Plus is an excellent oil to start with................ maybe 5W/50 Mobil 1 if your going Synthetic? Transmission, including differential: 75W/90, if you have an LSD it has to be LSD specific .................................... Synthetic is expensive Power Steer: ANY Auto Transmission fluid & again .................................... Synthetic is expensive Brakes: DOT3 or DOT4 spec ................................ Can get DOT5 but I wouldn't bother & it's very very expensive Cheers, D
  9. You would not believe how hard the 260kph speedo was to get. Firstly a Jap version 180kph speedo has to be sent over, they then convert it and send it back. If your looking for an 8000 rpm 6 cylinder tacho, PM me, as I think I have a few laying around. Cheers, D
  10. Can I ask why? when the intake air has passed through an intercooler, the intake pipe from the intercooler then runs across the front of the engine & behind the header tank of the radiator before entering the throttle body. It suggests to me that the cooled air is then reheated just prior to entering the engine, so "why bother"??? Cheers, D
  11. The boost gauge aka vacuum gauge (WOFTAM) was originally, but if you want something that is of some help, PM me and I'll give you the details. If you haven't noticed, I also have a 9000 rpm tacho mounted in the cluster. Cheers, D
  12. Something like this you like eh Glenn? Cheers, D
  13. Is it really poofter pink or is the camera / film a little suspect?
  14. All of the JDM brochures I have say exactly that too.
  15. Dopey George Bryant in Kiwi land swapped the green/grey PNV coupe for this sedan.
  16. You think we all dumb asses, you ring in a zed too. And the green PNV is what dopey George Bryant swapped for a 4 door sh!t box.
  17. No it's not that I know, but Stewart Wilkins claims it's every bit as good as the H 4 pump, but it's non genuine and it's NEW! The blax240 pump sold for about US$74.00 = about AU$80.00 plus freight, about AU$30.00, but it's a secondhand pump. And Dan, the cam I speak of is the speedo drive, isn't it a half shaft thickness offset idea? Cam?? as opposed to the spline in L20 & 28ET??? And my new motor is coming together nicely, will post if interested later. Still waiting on a few parts to come from US of A. Cheers, D
  18. I was going to say " Why stuff up a great car" but I see it's a sedan, it's got 2 too many doors. Do what you like!
  19. Why you need to replace them? You destroy them getting them off??? It's something I have never had to do, as I got the originals off without any problems. Have you tried another 240K wreck, or better to us, have you measured the size so we might be able to interchange something else???
  20. If you don't score the turbo pump from blax240, I have a H3.3 I might be tempted to part with, as I have an H4 & a new hi flow I bought from SWR some time ago. Send me a PM coz I might have something else that would help your n/a that I'm not to fond of advertising on here. Cheers, D
  21. It has a lot to do with the distributor drive. The turbo distributor has a spline drive, but from memory the n/a distributor is an offset cam, so you might be ok. Just do it your way and if you get stuck let me know, as I have a couple of turbo spindles. Cheers, D
  22. Drew, If your talking about the one blax240 has, he is an excellent person to deal with. I have bought many items from him and can only recommend him highly. Cheers, D
  23. Drew, The US spec L28ET auto oil pump is the biggest of them all, you will find H 4 on the casting, but be warned, you also may need a new drive spindle, depending on your distributor drive. L28ET oil pumps also come as H 3 & H 3.3 the most common manual version being the H 3.3 The L20ET pump is also an H 3 Cheers, D
  24. Why a 318 hemi, or 390????????? There is a 4.4L all alloy P76 V8 powered MR30 getting around that handles worse than a pig, why would you want a boat anchor like the 318/390 in the front when there are lots of Japanese V8's that will accomplish the same end result and give a better handling package. I know of a project 280ZX that is using a Toyota 1UZFE 4.0L DOHC 32V V8, 206kW at the fly, over 400nM and the motor is lighter than the original 6. Keep it all in the family with a VH41 and have very similar to above. ?????????????
  25. Same as coupe except for rear. Front of rear wheel arch. D
