  1. Richard is the most knowledgable man i know on the topic of cooling products. I heard him mention once about the affects on degreaser and alum products... NASTY... Richard built a custom radiator for me to fit a 16" craig davis fan for my hr31 and he personally made the mounting brackets from scratch. Its the best alum work i have ever seen and ive seen alot of tig welding. He takes all his jobs to the 6 star treatment. He always finds a way to do it 2 steps better... I have alot of time for Richard and am looking forward to his new business idea (plenium chambers). Stay tuned to his website for all your cooling questions and ideas. NOTE: I am not richard i just really enjoy his work...
  2. One of the best articles i have seen in here... Great job... Will consider doing one myself... Although i dont use the car round the track just down the 1/4 and street so i have not needed one but im tinkering with it now for a qQLD track day as i think circuit racing is gonna be more fun....
  3. When you buy a ssqv ask for the adapter kit for an r34 gtt and all will be sweet. I have never had a problem runing a atmo valve on all 3 lines... Cops.... where.... Its all about driving attitude.... I have not EVER been pulled over in the 4 years i have owned modified skylines.... Just dont be a tool and the cops will leave you along...
  4. Just finished the HKS Timing gear.... Lucky i bought a water pump and timing belt also. The water pump had major movement in the shaft and had never noticed it before. Also the timing belt was starting to perish at 70k. So now its in what the verdict. Well i set the exhaust cam gear to 4 deg retarded as sydney kid suggested. Went for a spin. Instandlly i noticed a drop in power (rwkw) however it has picked up heaps of low end torque and its great through the mid range now. Just lost some top end. But for a daily driver top end is nothing. So i am somewhat impressed with the gain down low (heaps smoother) but a little un-impressed with the loss of power. I didnt even need to use the g-tech to tell the difference. Next weekend im going to set it back to 2 deg retarded and see what happens. Hopefully i can find a nice ballance. However even at 4 deg retarded its like a 1/4 of a tooth out from normal so its such a minute adjustment and was hard to keep the cam still while setting the timing gear. So im now thinking that infact 4 degres has done nothing. Cause the cam belt has not even gone around another tooth on the cam belt. Therefore its not retarded at all???? Im going to have a chat to a few mates tommorrow cause i am now thinking that all we have done in this exercise it tighten the belt inbetween the 2 cams.... But there was a slight difference in performance so im confused now....
  5. Welcome to sau.... You will find all you need right here.... www.skylinesaustralia.com But i guess you already know that....
  6. So most of its in now. The new suspension is awsome. The ride is not as responsive as before in terms of braking but the steering is far more progressive. The bumps are not as bumpy and the squeks are gone. The fuel pressure reg and 040 pump has filled the hole at 4500rpm and now pulls like it should. The timing gear, water pump and belt will have to wait til this weekend now. As i ran out of time. It took ages to find bump stops to suit and i had to pay top dollar for them as i was despirate to finish the job monday. Very very happy with the outcome and once again found the fpr to be the best bucks spent. NOTE: Also tested new mods and suspension with g-tech and shaved 0.8 secdonds off the 0-100 time... So grip is good.... LOL
  7. Sorry guys... but my camera is 8mp and i need to down size them a bit so ill get on to it tommorrow.
  8. Ok... long story short... More needs replacing... Below is a pic of a very used cap for the rear suspension... To make matters worse no bump stops were in the box of bits and the original ones are toasted. Whats even worse again is that the original springs were that badlly rusted that they have stuffed the ruber mounts... I did however get the fuel pump in (with difficulty) and the fuel pressure reg. My gf's father made a very trick bracket to fit the pfr (check pic below). We made a template so if anyone wants one then just PM me and it can be done. So the last picture is where we finished the day. Have not started with the cam belt or timing gear yet. But now the idler bearing needs to be done. So ill have to hunt allot of parts tommorrow (damn it).... Just a quickie on the 040 pump. Be aware that if you jam the pump in to the tank you will end up touching the wall of the tank and there fore get vibration. So you need to cut the bottom of the bracket off. (Do not use zip ties as they will simple rub and vibrate until they break. If this happens you run the rish of blowing your car up. Remember the terminals are exposed so you have to be very carefull. Below is a pic of the finished pump. Be sure to place it as low in the tank as possible or you will run out of fuel at a 1/4 of a tank if you run it in the stock position due to no pick up line on the 040.... The whole base of th pump is the pickup. Also you will not be able to fit the pump bracket back in its original position on the side wall of the tank properly. You will only get 3/4 of the bracket into its slot (but this is enough). I did also run a new relay for my a/c fan as the circuit died and i had warm ac with out the fan running. This was fun to find the compressor wire trust me. Also its worth noting... Yes the original shocks are NISMO ones and yes i had to cut one.... Bastard was rusted on the top so bad that we could not save it.... Also in the bin is whast left of the shock dust covers.... Not much.... Bugger cause the shocks were still good... Just painted over (idiots) :chairshot So tommorrow i will be putting the suspension back in 1" lowered all round. Hopefully i will be able to track down bump stops and other nessary bits... http://members.optusnet.com.au/reneecolin/1 http://members.optusnet.com.au/reneecolin/2 http://members.optusnet.com.au/reneecolin/3 http://members.optusnet.com.au/reneecolin/4 http://members.optusnet.com.au/reneecolin/5 http://members.optusnet.com.au/reneecolin/6 http://members.optusnet.com.au/reneecolin/7 http://members.optusnet.com.au/reneecolin/8 http://members.optusnet.com.au/reneecolin/9 http://members.optusnet.com.au/reneecolin/10
  9. Things did not go to plan... The full story tommorrow...
  10. Yeah thats me.... Plate "COL-082" Looks good now hey.... Had a full 3 hour detail yesterday.... FREE
  11. If you want to buy from a retailer just go to autobarn....
  12. Also when you think about it $600 is good.... Look at it as... $100 per hour for him $100 per hour for the dyno..... Thanks very fair.... Ill give him a call when i buy one....
  13. Sounds like my sort of guy..... I love it when i go to other workshops during the day and they say can you give us a quick hand or what do you think about this.... So when i get work done that i cant do then i like to get in there and learn for my own knowledge cause one day someone will ask me a question about pfc's and ill say "blah" or "call matty"..... LOL
  14. Who could wait.... Im with you on that one....
  15. Pm replied... This sunday im doing hks timing gear, bosch 040 pump, full service inc power steering and brakes. Also a fuel pressure reg and new water pump and timing belt... I will mention all these products dont need to be done at all... I just would feel better if they were..... I may not wash my car weekly but i certainlly over service it....
  16. Too many mods to pm... i thought thats why we have a idea's/feedback area of the forum... Maby one of them will see it and act on it from here. All im asking is to take a look at the situation and see what can be done. I invited a guy i meet to join as he has a very nice 32 GTR. His first impression was that it was like all other forums. I insisted that sau was full of knowledge and information and could be very handy. He replyed with after you get past all the sticky's maby there is.... Thats what sparked me to write this down... It is a little anoying sometimes... Particualry when the sticky has been there for some time and is no longer revelant....Just wanting a perfect world... LOL Nah just an idea thats all...
  17. nice... what did it cost ya.... the tuning that is and how long did he take... Did he let you be a part of it or what???
  18. you nailed it gordon... ive done this before twice.... easy job on an r32/33 Just dont try it on a GTS-X cost is tripple that....
  19. thanks r31 thats what im talking about... i understand their need but there are just too many in some of the forums....
  20. I do it all myself man.... Sorry 1200 is parts only...
  21. sorry blitz i relize after reading you post agai that you were sticking up for me... Thanks mate... I had a chat to the boys at work today about the idea... Now im thinking i should do it... I should try and get 300rwkw from a rb25 for 6k plus turbo... I reckon it can be done (dont know how reliable it would be, LOL). Of course labour is nil cost for me as id do it all myself. But i dod need the car on a daily basis so i cant do it straight away. But i reckon a 3 week holiday will cover it inbetween cans... lol But i guess to use my car for example id be cheating cause im already almost there. Id just have to do turbo and install pfc and id be done... So 6k would pay for that no worries...
  22. Cool... I believe the microtec will go better than a pfc. But you need to weight up the costs. As in the purchase price and more so the tuning cost. I have heard some horror stories about pfc tuning at local shops. There is one id certainlly go to (chapman) but as for the rest i just couldnt trust them. Microtec on the other hand i dont know of any reliable shops who tune them??? As i have stated i believe 6k will be enough to spend on the motor... If you keep the turbo purchasde seperate than you will be laughing... 6k with a new turbo on the other hand would be an interesting challange...!!!
  23. He just go tme so angry... Really pee's me sometimes.... The GTR i bought had a single garret unit (roumered to be a GT35 turbo) It was a very good buy. The engine itself was of a stock internal configuration and the motor was fairly worn to be honest. But a set of pistons were sourced quite cheaply and the rods were x-ray tested and tested ok. New bearing kit was also cheap. Nothing needed to be done I just wanted to do it. I get that way. IE. Im doing a HKS timing gear astm so i decided the water pump and timing belt should also be done as i may as well cause im already pulling it apart. It has a little cost for great piece of mind. As i got back to the topic eariler there is no need to point the finger anymore. If you dont apriciate my input to these forums then just ask a QLD member who i am and what i do for a living. Blitz as a mod you should know your heavy forum users. I have never lied or misplaced the facts. The setup using an rb26 motor will easily produce 300rwkw all day in a 2wd skyline. It hurts me when someone questions my education or ability to produce products that work. I have built 4 cars now (not to showrrom condition) but a lot better than they were. I have lost money on 2 of them. But i think a cheaper go fast car is the only profitable exercise. (ie. vb commodore with a rb26). In fact im about to start on a new car. Im not doing anything ground breaking, im just doing it myself. I do most of my own work for the reason of not trusting and being ripped off by workshops. I never bag a workshop i just never go there again. The next project will be probablly a datto ute or datto 1600 with a sr20det (who whould have ever guessed) But yeah i feel like doing a 4cyl car for once. Back to the topic thanks you for supporting my idea of an rb26dett engine in some format. I drive a rb25 powered 33 now and if i was wanting 350rwkw-400rwkw id certainlly go to a rb26... But as i stated once i got back to the topic, o have suggested 2 combinations one with an rb26 and one with an 25. For the money this is a close as you will go with 6 grand. Like i said keep a few extra dollars aside for those un-expected expences like gaskets and so forth. I believe you will have a lot of fun doing this mod. I like power making mods more so than making looks. Its good to see you spent money where it counts.... If you want to bounce any more question off me than feel free to PM me. If you have any trouble sourcing parts also give me a PM. I have plenty of contacts that will be able to get what your looking for. Cheers Colin PS. Sorry to say that Blitz its just how i felt when you questioned my trade my bread and butter. My 4 years as an aprentice and my last 2 years working with computers and EFI products for jet ski racing.
