Adj Camshaft Pulley & New Cam Belt
Col-GTSX replied to Sydneykid's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Its an electrical circuit so attach it anywhere its like lightning.... I had a guy say that in class at tafe one day and the teacher (very respected) answered and said "prove it". We ended up doing a test on a 1500m (on a roll) piece of 22 gadge wire and it couldnt be timed.... Even at 1000rpm the and a 1 metre piece of wire you arent gonna have a problem.... All you need to worry about is as syd said is paralaxx error, this is quite common. It is talked about a Tafe all the time..... Its like a golden rule..... So question for you syd... How did you go with the settings.... 1. What did you end up with for hks timing setting vs. overall ign timing??? 2. Did you bother replacing the idler bearing??? Im gonna do the water pump cause its cheap and easy so i may as well ($69) But i may try 3 degres i reckon and advance the ignightion timing about 2 degres.... Thats what i reckon... -

bastard.... ill do it all still... might shed some light on it for others.... I have not contributed to these faq's for a while so i feel bad... -
Not good dude.... If the car had 50 on the clock and has these problems didnt you think this was strange. The compression tests do not look good at all. The suspension and rubber dammage tells me straight away that this car has done more the 50k.... With out even looking at it.... Drive it like it is now..... Sell it and buy another one..... Next time get a forum member to go with you to check it over... Im sure there are a few in TAS who would help ya out...

I have a set of T37 Volks... had them for about 6 months but still have not found centre caps. I just want plain plastic centre caps. Does anyone here know where i can get some, like wheel shops that might be able to help or what??? Volk brand caps are like 100 bucks each so plain would be fine....

i just replaced my coil overs with beilstein shocks and king springs.... No compairsons here.. Just the kings springs and beilstein (spelling) shock make for a comfortable yet extreamlly responcive drive.... Thae car isent breaking out all the time anymore either.... Little squisher in the rear... Makes for a very comfortable quiet ride... Keeping the coil overs tho for the other car

How did you go gord???

Just heard the news dan.... I had an attempt on my car yesterday at work. The alarm went off and i was round the corner having a smoke a customer chased them away and they didnt even get in. Next minute a car went flying past him he said there was a group of 4 in the car. The car was round the corner parked near where i was and it was a VN commodore with a Group A body kit morron in colour (lol) and had standard plates on it. Wonder if this is the same team????? I told you guys about the 2 who took photos of my car in my driveway last week didnt I.... I was painting out the back and i heard foot steps in the driveway and i went round the front and there was 2 bogans taking pics of my car. They said they were just admiring the car. I told them to F off and get the hell off my property. They were on foot and i watched them walk up the road..... Nothing i could do..... Because of these 2 events i have fitted a new kill switch which requires a 9v battery to get the car to run otherwise it will just keep turning over. Im also booked in tommorrow at autobarn to have the 4 month old mongoose alarm removed and a new (un-named) brand GPS alarm fitted. It has a high cost but i would prefer to keep my car. Just car will only pay 23,400 for my car and she worth a few more bucks than that in its shape. So the cost is worth it. Hope you either find the theives or get a nice insurance pay out.

HR31 drivetrain conversion.
Col-GTSX replied to -scooter-'s topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have only seen theis mod once in real life and the guys was a nut. QLD transport would not give him a mod plate as they called it a frankenstein of a conversion. It is legal to have this done, however when changing motors to a different type/size this is where you should include the pros man. Look im all for doing your own work. But if you botch this conversion then its gonna cost you more to fix it. 1. Custom tail shafts are around $200 with new uni joints. The 31 i saw with a 25 motor was using a rb20 gearbox. I believe he said it was too tight and mods were required to the tunnel to fit it. 2. You standard r31 diff will fall to pieces at the first sight of 250rwkw. Remember is over 15 years old and has had a flogging all its life and now you want it to handle twice the power it was designed for.... 3. The 25 mounts slightly more forwrds than the 20. This is due to the 25 motor leaning on the gearbox more so than the 20. I do believe you will have to tinker a little however i think this is the least of you problems. Just one more note, we talked about brakes eariler. If you want to make a 250rwkw beast you need to get better brakes. It is road worthy as is.... JUST..... You want bigger brakes trust me, last thing you want is to finish you ride and have a bash and not stop. Cheers Col -
grand read my post again.... Some of those quote must reflect either age or driving history. I have a good driving history and have insured a S2 33 with Just car with all minor mods and a few major mods (243rwkw now) and it cost me $1300 a year (insured for 29k).... So if the rate is high you got to ask why???? 1. Mods 2. Address of garage 3. Age 4. Driving History 5. Male or Female 6. Type of car 7. Financed or Owned 8. Cost of repair These are the things that reflect your policy cost....

HR31 drivetrain conversion.
Col-GTSX replied to -scooter-'s topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Dash wiring is a sinch for a auto-elec like myself.... But id suggest just send it down to the local shop to get done. Cause for min cost you will save you sanity. -
Any large dept of people (police/k-mart) Doesnt matter which store/goverment dept, but there is always a case of getting nice people and rude people. If you dont make complaints you cant get rid of the rude people. He mus have been pretty keen to issue a fellow neighbour a ticket.....! I used to live at Bridgeman Downs and a senior of Police (back in 97) lived over the road. One night a friend and i were having an arguement (over a chick of course). After nothing was resolved he jumped into his car and boy o boy did he light em up. He then did a u-turn over our front lawn and ripped it up. Then the street was not wide enough so he ripped up the lawn on the opisite side also.... BIG MISTAKE.... Lost his licience for 3 years. Not good mates anymore and i liked my neighbours.
