You don't need the keyway in the cam I ran without for 3 years 400+hp no problem. They just need to be lined up in the right spot again

Being hub dyno they show higher number but if it can manage 400kw on 85 on a roller dyno, I think the owner will be happy. after all he's only used to just over a responsive 300hp......will be funny to watch his reaction first time it spins 3rd -

Going to just be pump 98 for now until E85 is availble in town. Yeh they wont allow much tuning but by the time E85 is here 2000cc injectors will be even cheaper so can just drop them in and go. Plan is just see how it responds on pump fuel and wind boost in until its not safely possible. -

TIME FOR A UPDATE. Its been a very long time since anything has happened with the car. With all the flooding going on around town kinda had more important thigns to take care of then car stuff. With everything back up and running the car went in for injectors and a tune........didnt go to plan. I ordered a set of bosch 1000cc 11mm injectors and a SARD 11mm rail after the first rail didnt fit, Not thinking ripped the injectors out of bags and threw them into the bench tester to check flow rates, patterns etc. Not realiy paying attention but they had sent a set of 14mm injectors by mistake. So had to order some adapters to suit and wait. In the mean time just been doing little touch up things. Remade the catch can breather hoses in 200 series braid to match the rest of the speedflow. Car is booked in on the 18th of april for another shot at tuning. With any luck will have some results and Then its time for the owner to fill his pants when its on boost Spot the mistake made by a person who isnt me how it looks currently. slowly getting there making it look tidy -

Brought some Bosch 1000cc injectors ready to go. Took a chance on a ebay top feed rail kit that turned up today and of course aint close to fitting. So back on the hunt for a top feed rail setup again. -

Been a while since a update. Been pretty busy with other things Car has done roughly 1200klms now so its well and truly bed in. Hasnt been trouble free though. Went for a drive out of town to rack up some kays and about 40klms out of town the oil pressure dropped from a steady 85psi to around 12psi. Quickly shut the engine off and stopped to check, Oil level perfect, wasnt bleeding from anywhere. Started it again to listen and the pressure was 20psi on gauge max. there was oil gettting to the top of engine looking down the oil cap. Decided to let it cool for a hour to see if pressure comes up at all. Sitting on the side of road in middle of nowhere is really entertaining. Started the car up and the pressure had dropped 5psi. Was starting to getting a little bit worried. After some head scratching, i went on the hunt for a bottle on the side of road to do some bush mechanics . took off the turbo oil feed and put it into bottle to test how much oil was coming out. IT WAS POURING OUT. At this point figured it was a faulty gauge and made the decision to drive back to town with a constant eye on gauge and ear on engine. Checked the oil pressure when got it home with a mechanical gauge and it had perfect pressure, what happened was a tiny amount of thread tape had blocked the hole for the oil pressure sender . So it had no issues the whole time. Changed the oil and hooked up the oil cooler and filter relocator at 500klms. Cut open the oil filter and aside from a few very tiny material peices all is sweet so far. Added a centre muffler in to shut up the horrible noise out of it, has made it sound decent now thankfully. Currently waiting on a top feed rail and set of injectors so it can go in for tune on the 30th of Jan. Drives very well doing slow boost load ups on 3/4 throttle its making 10psi by 4800ish rpm. With some timing and tuning it might not be too bad. First week of Feburary is going to be when the results come through. Going to be a 98 octane tune for now. The owner does have E85 tune in his thoughts but with it not readly availble in Bundaberg yet its a bit down the track Machine work done to the power steering pulley. RB26 ATI balancer isnt a direct fit on a rb25 for this reason but easily fixed First drive straight to the fuel bowser This is the first time it got moved under its own power. NPC clutch is like driving a stock clutch, stupidly easy to operate. You can hear how horrible it sounded without any mufflers. I continued to call it a Honda until a muffler was put in it. Slowly bringing it onto power at 1/2-3/4 throttle to just check EBC operation. First time anything more then 5psi has been hit. Untuned so dont want to put it under any stress just yet. -

ITS ALIVE!!!!!! Decided better pull finger out and get it running. Bolted up rest of exhaust, finished off wiring, gave it some running in blood and kicked it in the guts to see what happens. Fired up straight away which is always more entertaining then stuffing around trying to problem solve. Oil pressure was a little slow to come up. Had 15psi for most of the first start, it has a oil pressure warning light which the sensor is in the oil filter relocator, that is currently not hooked into the system so the light was on causing a bit of worry until worked out what was going on. The 2nd start up was to cycle the heat through engine to help the gasket seal up better without coolant/water. Had 75-80psi consistent oil pressure when cold. Couldnt get the oil hot enough to see whats it like at operating temp though. Used to be around 50psi on old engine, with any luck the new engine wont have lazy pressure on idle. Full stainless exhaust is a bit on the loud side. Going to see how bad it is on the road driving before doing anything about it. Has a cackle from exhaust which sounds poo.....That will be fixed asap. engine seems pretty responsive so far throttle wise. Still waiting for the pulley to get back from machinist. Once we get the pulley back can put radiator and hoses back in. Intercooler piping and lots of little stuff is planned this weekend. The aim is to try to get it drivable to bed in the motor by end of weekend. -

Few steps closer to finish. Relocated the power steering tank as the turbo now hit it. Required fittings to be welded on and bent to suit, car no longer has hicas so got rid of the extra fitting in tank also. Cleaned up and covered wiring also to make it look neater. Bolted up the turbo, wastegate and dump pipe to see if anything needs to be adjusted with a big hammer . everything fits up tight but really nice. Hopefully have sorted out a solution to the power steering pulley mis-alignment too, Going to get it machined down inline and extra belt grooves machined in, ATI should make a RB25 balancer ready available i reckon. Power steering tank fabrication. Ignore the large safety oversites.......No safety gear and braizing over batterys Final result. plenty enough room for air filter. As soon can see things are tight around the exhaust so will have to see how much heat it produces and work out heat protection from there 3.5 stainless dump bolted up to the rest of 3 inch stainless exhaust. Went 3.5 just incase later on no chance of restriction. easy to upgrade rest of exhaust if need be Wastegate return pipe no bolted up yet. Plenty enough room for a Track pipe off gate (to be made up another day) Plan is to start on the intake side during week. Tidy up the wiring abortion. Going to move the oil filter relocator to a neater position. Intercooler piping no longer fits so the will also have to be re-made but thats not nessasary for a initial oil pressure fire up and then few heat cycles. Videos of running engine wont be too far away -

Dump pipe and wastegate postioning got done this week. 3.5inch stainless. Nothing else has happened with it as ive been ill all week with a unknown sickness. wastegate return has been flange so when ""at track"" it can be run as a screamer pipe. Was done at exhaust shop in town, welds aint prestine but they work -

Looking like a car again. Owner has fitted up the new cooler to replace the old GTR cooler. Physically the same dimensions except alot thicker. Probably a bit of overkill but better to have to much then not enoough. Bolted on all the accessories, clutch etc on. NPC twin plate nice bit of gear but damn it weighs alot. Bolted it on with some ARP bolts just for extra security Dropped it into place after some fighting with the sandwich plate it dropped in onto mounts. Started bolting up everything plugging stuff in. The wiring loom is a bit of a abortion so remembering where stuff goes is a slow process. Car should be going to the exhaust shop for the wastegate and dump pipe fabrication this week. Once thats done can kick it into life all going to plan. Ran into issue with the ATI balancer. the power steering pulley isnt even close to lining up about 6mm to far forward. Will have to call them up tommorow see what they can do. -

Photo dump got stuck into engine yesterday. its good to see it come together quickly and look like a engine again. what we started with in the morning Head on Tomei cams (baby ones) MLS Gasket crush before and after Test fitting turbo and manifold to check any fitment issues......As 95% of time with 6Boost fits perfect once a couple of shorter studs were fitted(supplied with manifold) Made up all 200 series speedflow hoses....do it right the first time so dont have to spend money again. Need a couple more fittings to finish them. if anyone knows what thread the oil feed in turbo is or even the speedflow part number that would save us time. N1 oil pump primed, Genuine Nissan new water pump and pulleys, gates racing timing belt. Ati balancer so it can rev as much as it wants Greedy intake manifold cleaned up of the oil spray from blowby on old engine. Deleted the intake spacer so had to shorten pretty much all bolts to bolt it on. Where it finished up at the end of day. Looking into making up a extended oil sump at the moment which is why no sump on in photos Waiting on a few little parts, timing cover, rubber washers few hoses but its pretty much ready to drop into car so fab work on wastegate mounting/dump pipe work can begin -

Weighed up the rods pistons ringset and pins tonight. Everything was exactly the same weight as each other which worked out perfect for balancing. Rod and Piston assembled Dummy assembled one cylinder without rings to measure deck height and everything was right. Decided to assemble a couple of cylinders while the rums were still cold haha. Got 2 pistons in and done. piston movement in the bore is chalk and cheese between the old pistons. Going to be so much quieter in running compared to old slapper. Tommorow the rest of the bottom end will be put together SO FAR ITS GOING TOGETHER AWESOME -

We have drilled out the block and head oil return holes. enlarged and cleaned up the larger drain head drains. Kept the 3 factory restrictors in place. Have a N1 pump which going to change the shims to slightly increase oil pressure, The old engine was a little bit low when idling. Also going to run the oil level slightly overfull so as to stop any possible chance of oil surge away from pickup when car is looping out (all the time i might add) while drifting. With all that in place it shouldnt have any issues with constant high revs. -

The rods have been honed out to suit the pins so this weekend will be weighing pistons and rods and matching them together and if all goes to plan dropping the bottom end together. Waiting on a few things to come before we can put it back into the car. ARP flywheel bolts, oil filter tower amongst few other things. Should go back together fairly quickly from here now that most of the parts/jobs are ticked off the list.
