  1. well there have been a few 'boutique' makers over the years. most aussie and euro stuff use straight cut gears and/or dog engagement. most of the jap stuff are helical gears and still synchro. generally all the jap boxes have a much shorter 1st gear as back when people were upgrading GTR boxes a lot in the 90s and early 2000s it was for drag racing which was huge in japan. the super tall first gear in 32/33 boxes is pretty useless with decent power so they nearly all shorten it down massively. route6 make a gearset but to the best of my memory it also had a shorter 1st gear and then close spacing between 1-3 (ratio wise). AGY made their SS690 boxes with the synchro upgrades and I 'think' they used to make one with standard ratios (but it was a long time ago). OS obviously don't make standard ratio gearsets. it's possible they were custom gears. best bet is measure then and see if they really are 5mm bigger (I assume you mean wider). 5mm (2.5mm each side) is pretty hard to spot unless you have a standard one beside it to compare to so maybe the people who looked at yours just thought it was bigger? it's quite likely I reckon that it's just a series 3 box.
  2. lol, sounds awesome just as long as they don't incorporate fagnes or pouhon into the repertoire...
  3. f**king hell. did it have to be another F40. my 2 favourite cars of all time (F40 and Maclaren F1) are dropping like flies at the moment. it's making my chance of owning 1 of each slimmer and slimmer by the day!
  4. because when people say senna they think aryton. like you don't call ralf 'schumi'. it just aint right!
  5. .....don't forget the half a dozen owners in japan before that guy too...
  6. yeah clutch will always slip in higher gears under high load first. so as you said load it up from low rpm in 4th/5th and you'll quickly find out. even better if you can do it up an incline...
  7. not a good idea. how do you get to the inside? and how would you test it for leaks? how would you set the pick-up height? just do it properly.
  8. yeah sounds like a standard box to me too sadly. so many fkers have sold supposed "OS boxes" which turn out to be standard. the fact that it's holding 320kw is no indication either. plenty of stock boxes running 350kw+ for years and years. most likely your first box braking at 260kw you just got unlucky.
  9. bruno (you can't call him 'senna' ffs) will have his work cut out. petrov is pretty decent and I can't say I ever remember bruno doing anything that great. if he can get on top of petrov in these 2 races then he's in with a chance at a drive. but I doubt it.
  10. yeah I know Ian will try and nail things down as soon as he can but it will still be a while before the date is known.
  11. ahh, I thought this was my old white R32 GTR I sold to a bloke from the blue mountains in about 2008 too! lol, I thought his name was Mark too. small world.
  12. yeah I agree with paul, 1 bar on the stock gauge can mean nothing at all other than the stock gauge is not working 100%. even on my 32 with gauge working as well as it ever has it's far lower than the defi gauge. at idle the stock gauge is around 1.5 and the defi shows 2.5bar steady. before you panic definitely get a proper aftermarket pressure gauge on it.
  13. Hey Mark, this is still my old R32 yeah? how's it going? and don't call it a track bitch! it hurts my feelings!!! we should do a track day together soon. oh, and yeah external pump is a good idea. ask duncan about it, he runs one in his Combined Touring spec car and he would know if it's ok/not ok for targa I'm sure.
  14. my only tip is that it's really an engine out job. some people will say it can be done in car but it probably wouldn't be any easier than just removing the engine and doing it that way.
  15. yeah benny is onto something though. you end up with quite a bit of big heavy cable to ensure no voltage (or coltage in marlins case) drop. so he's probably right by the time you do all that weight increase would be in the order of a few kg. possibly better if you mount it in the cabin so you can shorten the cables. it will of course improve the weight distribution though being moved from the front drivers corner to the middle or rear of the car.
  16. ok, now you've got me thinking. BRB, got to call tenga and sow this deal up...
  17. lol, I'm flattered I got a mention but how come I got pinned for the tenga egg!! marlin is the bloody expert, i'm just a part time admirer and supplier of their 'equipment'. still I did give eric a 'sample' which he promised to pass on to richard raeder (SSE owner). I hope Eric didn't try it first? marlin tells me they are no good second hand...
  18. lol, what the hell? I get dumber every day.
  19. yeah 180 (assuming that's loweest speed through T1) is pretty good. plenty of people tell me all the time they pull 220 etc through there on streeties but they most likely have one hand firmly around their cock whilst saying it. from looking at data logs from lots of serious cars it takes a lot to get to even 200km/h. marks advan/RGM R34 is around the 200 mark now but that came with lots of aero work and 295 wide semis! cyber's T1 speed is insane, something close to 220 (yes I've seen their data too). and yet their front straight top speed is quite low (248) which probably helps as many people with big straight speed tend to overbrake a bit for T1 which is easy to do. sierra sierra hit 298 on the straight but must lower T1 apex speed than cyber (still around 200 from memory).
  20. I know those words are english but I just don't know what that means...
  21. I know it was a joke you fanges. don't make me pouhon you from my la source.
  22. Super GT is awesome to watch. one of the best motorsport events i've been to in japan was super GT.
  23. I would definitely try reducing that toe on the rear to 0 or even a bit of toe in (maybe start with half a mil each side). toe out makes them a bit taily. I know it squats a fair bit but yeah some toe in on the rear will make it a bit better to drive. I'm sure most guys that have tried different alignments on their skylines and GTRs would agree. bummer about needing the oil tank in the engine bay. can you not seal off the boot area with a proper firewall and keep it in the boot? or does andra mandate that all fluids must be confined to the engine bay or something?
  24. either rear quarter or rear of bootlid is ok. whatever best shows where the battery is. and yes if there's no remote pull for the isolator you don't need to use the lightening bolt yet. as harry said size of those stickers is regulated. they must always be a triangle with 15cm sides. I wonder marlin if your battery is real. it does have a spelling mistake on it "Coltage"...I guess V and C are next to each other on the keyboard but still surprised that would get through editing of a big company. it may be a copy odyssey? you can also buy small sealed batteries that have a vent tube built in (they are what you should be buying for a R34 etc). it's easy to fit one of those to an R32 then you just need to drill a hole 8-10mm in the floor, fit a small rubber grommet and then put the vent turbo through that hole. can still box it up too if you like to guard against damage and/or spills and ahve the vent tube pass through the side of the box and then out the floor. they are not particularly expensive either.
  25. exactly. fark tell me 'turn 13' at spa and I have NFI what you're on about. say blanchimont and I know. same goes for la source, eau rogue etc. i have no idea what turn they are but I know what they're called and what they look like. if you guys are telling me you watch F1 but have no interest in spa then you must not be watching the same thing I am watching. spa by a fair margin would be the best circuit on the current calendar. many other circuits have some good points but spa is the package. also agree that tom cruise is a bastard. plus he's a bloody scientologist freak. that alone should be enough to convince anyone to treat him like the clown he's become. I mean he's like operating thetan 6 or something now isn't he so he should be able to levitate... well if he can fly under his own steam (gas more likely) what the fk does he need an F1 car for? give it to poor mortals like me who can only walk at the best of times.
