  3. ok found a place that was overly helpful and they are going to perform valve body mods and manualise my gearbox which should hopefully fix the current dramas... this though will not be done untill after power cruise and possibly autosalon...
  4. Ditto Eug!! I wouldnt have a GTR if u gave me one.... I had one then i got rid of it... but i wont get started on that.... To make power with the NA u will need to go for Cubes and Revs, apparently the 3ltr bottom end has bad harmonics... so i would reasearch that a little more, knife blade and balance the crank.. super lightweight rods and pistons.... Higher Compression... Huge Cams.., The biggest Valves u can fit in it with a matching port and polish that will allow u to combe sp* your hair in the reflection, Match ported 6 Throttle body intake with tuned length trumpets.. Match ported mandrel bent extractors and a really good ECU such as motec...
  5. ok ummm, basically all modern street cars use steel belted radials (well most) this is where there are steel belts that are formed in the rubber to hold the tyre together, stop it expanding flexing make it stronger basically. The slicks (crossplys) instead of using steel belts use Use a nylon? or some sort of material to hold them together.. And i havent yet experienced it but when u run faster with crossplys on the back and radials on the front it makes the car very uncontrollable at high speed. If that makes any sense?
  6. ok well all worked out ok... kind of... couldnt manage under a 13 to start with but then we pulled the air cleaner off and played with some tyre pressures and the car dropped almost a second... it managed a 12.42@112mph with a 1.7 60ft time It wont change from first to second with out completely back off so it is loosing heaps of time there.. it kept going faster all night but andra kicked it off once it ran under 12.5 cause i didnt have front runners... So i sourced some front runners yesterday wheels and tyres and they should be here by the end of the week... Now i just have to sort the gearbox,, we may take it out for some more testing after power cruise before deciding which way we will head with the gearbox... Options are speak to the guys in the states and send the valve body from the current gearbox over there to be modified, have a custom auto computer built for it and buy a big power handling rebuild kit for it. And the other option is to make a Fully manualised C4 or turbo 400 bolt up... Either option is going to be really expensive... Im leaning more towards a built turbo 400 as parts seem to be cheaper for them and they are fairly cheap to get a ahold of second hand. But this still means i will need to modifiy the drive shaft again and get another custom stall convertor built... And at the moment i have zero cash... just waiting for the GTR to sell and then we'll see where we go from there.... More research is being done into a methanol enrichment system as well.... I want more power.. but first we have to get it down the strip with no headaches..

  9. y would u bother.... u would have a Useless torque guage... y not get 3 2 1/16 guages instead and have them all functional... or the defi 1 din size unit?
  10. no it wont they are slightly different... I had a GTR CF bonnet on my GTS and it didnt fit properly. a GTS CF bonnet will not even shut on a GTR. See my gallery check out the black car,.
  11. car paint you have to mix.. brands and types of guns come down to personal preference.. if practicing i suggest a cheap gravity feed they can be had for 80 bucks... but only to practice with i would never spray a car with a cheap gun.. Its also not as simple as getting a tin of paint and putting it in the gun... u need to mix the paint first to get the colour, add the hardener and the thinner in the correct proportions.... Next is the prep work... if u have learnt how to use the gun, get good even coverage, no runs etc... Get good at your prepwork.. a paintjob is only ever as good as the preperation... I would highly recomend buying a DIY book... Im no pro and only a learner myself... There are particular patterns to spray panels in so the paint blends and doesnt start to dry before other areas and what not... I think another thing is if u dont have acess to a booth only try and do it on very still days in areas that arent very dusty... again i wouldnt recomend doing a front bar or something that should look good without a booth... ull be amazed how much crap it collects.
  12. never buy a GTR if u want a completely satisfying car.
  13. in qld they will go over the entire car... they dont care about mis matched tyre sizes.. coilovers that do not meet ADRS (pretty much all of them) are illegal... dont worry about the steering wheel as along as its diameter is greater than 340mm... As for the guy the said u can get fiberglass and carbon engineered.... not in qld without a great deal more trouble then simply getting it inspected.
  14. the standard pump is capable of producing more hp then that little NA can produce without assistance... id get another stocker... The stock non turbo pump used to run my V8 with nitrous and had lots more left in it.
  15. well there are still alot of teathing problems to be worked out... it managed a best of 12.42@112mph with a 1.7 60ft time... It dropped almost a second from simply removing the air cleaner and changing tyre pressures... Still lots more time left in it considering it takes almost ~0.5-1sec to get the auto stop bouncing off the limiter and actually change into second.. stupid thing. But when we sort everything out it will most definately go faster.. when there is no time left in it we up the boost.

Well if neone is going out tonight come and say hi, were taking blacky out to see how it goes on slicks... probably just gonna try a few launchs and half passes to start with... cars do funny things on slicks sometimes... if all as well ill go for a full power pass... Its fully gutted... no interior at all just a drivers seat all the sound deadening has been removed... should be interesting... Neways Might see some of you there.
  17. it makes progressive boost all the way to redline. Going out to willowbank tonight for some shake down passes. Getting excited.. First time out on slicks should make things interesting..

  19. it supposed to... were talking about power at the wheels in here... power at the flywheel is different due to gear ratios and loss through the drivetrain.
