less restriction, rb twin cam heads flow very very standard, what holds them up as with any NA engine is the ability to breath through the exhaust and intake system. Very interested to see how this goes.. keep us posted

A compression test will not show what sort of condition the engine is in and if it will have blow by, you need to do a leak down test to know for sure.

Time for NA Power, the wait is over.....
NA_R33 replied to NA_R33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
cool, almost done now, fuel system complete, just waiting on the computer, should be on the dyno by the end of the week.... fingers crossed. -
read my "Time for NA power, the wait is over..." thread in this section... goes into loads of detail on the build an history of blacky.

Blow by is something to worry about, oil mixed with fuel leans off the mixture leading to detonation.

New Car Generation Dont Understand The Idea..
NA_R33 replied to Kaido_RR's topic in General Automotive Discussion
MMmmm ive just given up talking to the young and nieve, but there is a line that must be drawn between the people you speek of and those that are genuinely sp* interested in learning. For those i will give all my effort to share the knowledge that i have gathered whilst getting different perspectives on that which i already know. Ive been playing with engines and what not since about 9 years of age, and am fairly well respected amoungst my peers for having the knowledge i do for 19yo. Though i do have a thirst for knowledge and am always keen to learn about that which i love its getting harder and harder to find people that speek from actual experience and those that speek from hear-say. And on that note how many of the 1000's of new workshops that hazve opened up in the past 3-5years would you actually trust to build you an engine? or let alone service your car... -

Trumpet Runner Length Vs Torque Curve
NA_R33 replied to slow_r31's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Also the radius or curves of the trumpets effects it aswell. Ive got it all in a notebook at home, dont know if there is any specific calculations as every engine varies but there are rules of thumbs, just cant remember them off hand.. Best way to do it is to make up some sliding trumpets and vary the lengths whil its on the dyno... -
almost there

Time for NA Power, the wait is over.....
NA_R33 replied to NA_R33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i think i spoke to the people that built that one a while ago... werent very helpful at all.... More progress on mine, all the pulleys and adapters have been made intercooler mounted and piping done, Just have to make an idler and tensioner, finish off fuel system, wait for my computer to arrive and wire it up.... its booked in on the dyno on friday afternoon.... see how it goes.... -
No room for turbos thats for sure, not without body mods and i want this to be 100% street legal so im not going anywhere near that. I built a custom set of headers to turn down really sharp otherwise they would be sitting on the rails. Be nice to see one in a GTR, lots and lots of fabrication... just not something im bothered with atm... Ive still got my GTR and im trying to get rid of it, it just doesnt interest me as much as this does.
-
boost is always and is measured the same, but a blower doesnt make full boost until it reaches max revs or is wastegated... which apparently doesnt work very well but im going to find out for myself.
-
Its almost never something thats come loose.... resonance is something that twin cam engines do. Too hard to explain how it works but its that rattling sound u hear... u need an exhaust shop that knows what there doing or follow the write ups that are in this section of the forum.

Time for NA Power, the wait is over.....
NA_R33 replied to NA_R33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Picked up the cooler from the fabricators today, suck to have a workshop with 30 odd welders and none can do alloy... but neways piping comes this arvo... Doing pulleys on sunday cage next week. Aiming to be done by next weekend. -
heres a guestimate, ive just spent 10 grand no labour on supercharging mine, or i could bolt a Toyota 1G to a 25DE for about 1500 bucks 2 different ends of the spectrum... need to know what u want.
-
it does happen to all of them and its almost never something rattling. Its resonance in the exhaust system that becomes more pronounced as the packing in your muffler gets old and the cat deteriorates. Yes a well built aftermarket exhaust will fix it, if u take it to someone that doesnt know what they are doing it will just amplify it....
-
if u did the head as well it would just be a complete engine wouldnt it??
-
how much power are u after and what is ur budget and how much can u do urself?>
-
Hey matey, i used to run nitrous on my 25DE. Difference between a wet and a dry kit is that a wet kit adds the correct amount of extra fuel needed with the nitrous. Where as a dry kit only adds the nitrous meaning u woul;d need an ecu that would add the extra fuel needed. So u would need a wet kit. I used to use the Zex wet kit with no problems at all and it was a 75hp shot... Used to run 14 flats with that.
