  1. I run a gtr diff with nismo 5bolt axles. I was told they are setup pretty loose from factory and can be shimmed a little providing its plates are good. Mine is fairly tight but doesn't clunk. Awaits the nismo clutch pack. Any news on its cost?
  2. It wouldn't the stock actuator has a weak spring so it starts lifting off much much earlier than the heavier rated actuator. It still won't be as sharp as the ball/spring mbc but it will be pretty close. Which is why I suggested to use both, the mbc for boost response and the actuator so it holds boost
  3. Yes its most likely std thickness as it represents the usual comp test results.
  4. When I bought mine 5years ago with what appeared to be a genuine 60,000km's on the clock it had around 145-146psi in all 6 pots.
  5. Scooby, the 20kg is in the r32 rb26 engine manual. In a couple of places. 100%.
  6. I'm going to give it a shot reusing mine. :S Apparently hit it with gasket remover, wipe off the old crap, then scotch brite it and finally hit it with copper cote and wack it on. I've spoken to a few blokes that have reused theirs a few times over with RB's. One is on ct.com, used his 4 times on his rb30.
  7. I've since done a little more research..... The commetic needs a surface Ra of 60 or better. Which is apparently not that easy to do. It needs a very slow milling table feed and a very fast head speed on the cutter to get it. If not.. it will leak like a siv. :S Some also use a copper spray IF their cutter is unable to provide such a finish.
  8. lol. Yes the lack of meat was a small concern especially if one is running big springs. After 2-3years and we are still leaning crap about these build ups. Are you going to drill straight in to the water galley and tape up or place sealant on the thread? Thats how mine was done.
  9. What were the water temps like? Possibly that was partially the cause of det. 6's are fine as said for 300rwkw, I've seen one push close to 400rwkw on 6's without problems. When I ran 7's I had to put a bit of work in to the temp correct table as the defaults were simply too rich and would foul the plugs.
  10. The big killer is tint on the drivers/passenger windows and too low. Anything lower than standard is illegally low. lol how motor reg suck.
  11. wow $440.. :S They are near half that price from japland or sau sponsors. Damn I'm a tight arse. lmao
  12. The JJ RB30 sure did though. Allthough I think Antony's RB30DET sounds better.
  13. I haven't used the 150 tooth + 2 lower tensioner method. So I can't get behind it. :S I and a few others here in Adelaide run the Dayco 94407 152 tooth belt. We all run 2 tensioners, one above the water pump and the other in the lower position. It fits and it works, plenty of adjustment. Maybe just drill and tap. Will take 30mins to 1hr tops to get it all in the right position. The RB30 and RB26 difference in spool, drivability, low gear acceleration and average power is simply not comparable. Dyno sheets don't show how much better the 3ltr spools a turbo at part throttle and lesser load gears. Providing you have previously driven the setup on the 2.6ltr you plan to run on the 3ltr I'm confident you will be happy with it.
  14. Bl4ck32 and I both run a cometic MLS, had the motor built up by the same bloke at the same time. The head wasn't faced but the block was decked. No leaks, all good. I've ran up 50,000km's over 2 years Bl4ck32 has had his going for the same amount of time. Some do have issues with the Cometic MLS.. No idea why. Yet others who use them all the time have no issues. Maybe its a certian finish required? :S Sinista.. I'm about to rip the head off mine to sort out too much oil holding in the head. Where did you grab your trust item from? I'll be going one of those 'just' incase. EDIT: I require a 1.2mm 87mm rb26dett headgasket. Nengun state they are now discontinued.
  15. The next cheapest boost control method is to grab an adjustable actuator thats got the required boost level spring you wish from the local turbo shop. Down here ATS do them for $120. They generally come in steps of 2psi. So 9psi, 12psi, 14psi, 17psi etc... Then use the adjustable arm to place a little more preload on it to fine tune the boost level. From my fiddlings generally a bleeder will hold 2-3psi more than the actuator is rated at. Its a start. Use both to help spool. EDIT: OR.. You could always run an R32 RB20DET actuator? 11-12psi off the bat.
  16. Not sure if Shaun shares the same view. Its only an observation I've made through my own multiple tunes, friends cars and how mine reacted on the stock ecu when pushing 1bar. Consistently the same. Cold Tune FTW, hot day tune FTL. BF2.. I haven't been on much as the computer as crapped it. Spending too much on the car as of late so the computer can hold off.
  17. Turbo oil feed. Fine with compression fitting? :S Almost worth spending the $70 from Pirtek.
  18. Have you checked out what the crimping tools are worth?
  19. I heard it sounding a little sick at one point. :S
  20. Thanks Gary, Antony has his rb30det out at the moment, soon to be dropped back in within a few days which I'm giving him a hand so I'll check it out, take some pics etc.
  21. I drove past and down the back street where it was very smelly.
  22. I was down at RipoffRepco when it went up, so I drove down and checked out the fireballs. Traffic got bad damn quickly. :S
  23. Garymeister, So you do redrill the lower engine to subframe mount and also space the subframe down? If you simply bolt the sump adaptor on and then bolt it all in using the std untouched engine mounts the cam belt cover always fouls. 2 in SA that I know of have had the same issue and a few others through PM's in their GTR's. Never actually heard of (through PM's and the like) the twinturbo pipe fouling apart from scooby's. Sky30 had the same bonnet fouling issues. I believe he origionally looked at lowering the engine/subframe but decided against for what ever reasons.
