  1. I know of one that ran a GT3040 .7 comp cover VLT int. gate .63 turbine housing and didn't have issues with surge. Made a touch over 300rwkw with some healthy boost, cams and all the support mods. It apparently came on strong ~3500rpm. It was originally machined up with the std rb25 comp cover. I remember it made 280rwkw on 17psi. Once again it did have the support mods, cams etc.
  2. Should be good once its all sorted, looks good now. What ign timing did you end up with at peak torque and peak power? Any chance of throwing a set of adj. cam gears on it? You can then shift the power curve around so that it makes peak power slightly higher.
  3. $520. Buy from Nengun (~2-3week wait), Perfectrun (~7day wait). (Japan) You'd have to be silly to buy from auto barn and the likes. If you must buy a set in Aus grab a set from Slide. He sells them for $589 + postage.
  4. Thanks.. 2 1/16 is definitely what I am after then. Just that little bit smaller.
  5. doodz, What size guages are they? 2 5/8?
  6. lol.. Compared to the rb20 a 3ltr bottom end will have the same turbo spooling ~2000rpm earlier.
  7. So you bought second hand leads and second hand coils. Second hand leads... Not exactly some thing you want to be doing if your running decent power and want to avoid a dodgy lead.
  8. Who's to say the rpm markings on the dyno sheet are 100% accurate? Rip off the stock cat.. chances are the honey comb is broken in to multiple big chunks.
  9. That depends if you want to upgrade. In regards to a power upgrade, the GT3071r won't be. The slightly larger and laggier GT3076r will be. But saying that the GT3076r .63 will still be an upgrade over what you have now. There's no reason it shouldn't crack 280rwkw with your alchy/water setup. Its not optimal on paper but it works.
  10. VN coils are known to be shit. Use a VP coil pack, its what is recommended when replacing coils on ones VN dungadoor. Fords better than Holden anyway. Holdens 'feel' cheap and rattle after a few kms. The VP coils really do throw out a fat spark, I've seen one that I was testing jump ~6cm's and it was fat as, I could hear the crack. Has any one ran these VN/VP coils at high rpm 7000-8000rpm with decent boost?
  11. I've had a small discussion with 6boost some time ago regarding the making of a lowmount manifold for the dohc. He wasn't interested as he couldn't use his collector. Such a pitty as any low mount he could put together would be better than the current ebay types. I suggested something along the lines of a HKS manifold design but he just wasn't interested. So many of us DOHC heads buy those ebay things too, if only something in low mount was available.
  12. What sort of power/boost are you making on these after market coils? If its near stock or still stock turbo on measly 15psi boost then we can't tell if it will work once the combustion pressures are considerably higher. + the non-stock look. For $520 delivered splitfires are the way to go.
  13. Because its all in good fun. Nothing serious just good fun.
  14. They are if you value fuel economy and the lag values are noticeably different to stock. The PFC runs sequential injection so the idea is to have the injector spray as the valve is open as not to have the fuel sitting around resulting in fuel dropping out of the air so to speak. Thats my understanding anyway. Batch injection.. I'd imagine its not so critical. An example with the GTR injectors in my RB30DET... -0.04ms offers better drivability, easier starts and a small fuel economy increase. An injectors lag value also changes with a rise in fuel pressure.
  15. HKS cams apparently give a nice little lope.
  16. Hi ppls, Has any one used these injectors in their RB20DET? I'm after their lag values. I suspect they are around 0.96ms. Part number 63565
  17. An alarm is a must.. Look at 'all' (that I have seen) where they have posted on sau and nissansilvia stating their car had been stolen. No alarm/immobiliser had been fitted.
  18. And both of you are using the RB25 highflow? I noticed in the pics your running the r33 comp cover not the smaller 16v rb20 comp cover. The same goes for the turbine housing I'd imagine?
  19. More/less responsive than the KKR? Overall compared to the KKR?
  20. My old Rb20DET pump had the internal and external gear being the same width, both gears were also slightly thinner than the r33 rb25det pump I had.
  21. Pro engines.. Thats interesting RE: R33 Pump internal gear width. My pump had the internal gear being thicker than the external. (Unless its just the angle of your pic) Both gears were also thicker than the rb30 pump gears I had on hand. Maybe my rb30 pump was n/a. I did take measurements and should have them laying around somewhere.
  22. Yer mines started to get a little rust around the back window. Bastard about it is the ever so small bubble appeared ~6months after it was re-sprayed. ~1000 to fix.
