  1. Providing its built well they handle 300rwkw on stock bits perfectly fine. There's one dude who runs on the same dyno as I that has precision hypereutectic pistons, stock rods, nice balance and making 373rwkw with a GT42. Behind the auto it makes all its boost by 4200rpm. It still run a SOHC head with 272duration cams and makes power to 6900rpm. So the bottom ends are tough suckers. Rev's is what kills them.. well any motor in fact.
  2. Good stuff Wazz.. Be sure to let us know how much better it runs down the strip. It looks as the stock convertor will suit the rb30 well. 1800rpm or so its making what ever boost I throw at it and with a gt30 bolted on the side will no doubt be making some reasonable boost at that rpm also. Should be good. Can't wait to flog this manual off.
  3. And a damn nice chaser that was too... Skippy, what did it set you back? The arse end, front end its all horn.
  4. I meant wank factor for myself to go to the trouble of fitting it up. If it comes with the car bonus..
  5. To be cool. lmao Wank factor. I did say it in a joking manner, really... I wouldn't bother.
  6. I noticed your running the rb26 cams. So your cam gear settings will be considerably different to that of the rb20/25 cams.
  7. hrmm I wonder if the R34 steering wheel can be bolted up to the old R32 to offer steering wheel shifting.
  8. Remote start is a bit of a wank factor anyway, mine has the capability but I've never enabled it. A car only needs to idle 30seconds max before its driven off slowly. Prolonged warmup idling only washes the oil from the bores causing them to glaze up not to mention worse fuel economy. Back in the days of straighy 30 and 40weight oils yes.. it was requried to warm the oil up as it was damn thick when cold.
  9. The cam gears is what setup the centerlines... For example 0 on the rb25de inlet cam is a centerline of 112degree's. Move the cam gear -5 or +5 and it changes the cams centerline accordingly. So there's 3degree's difference between the std positioning of the rb25de and rb20det inlet cam. Sky30 ran a heap of overlap to bring the turbo on sooner and pick up mid range power; from memory top end power was sacrificed by ~10rwkw but he picked up something like 20-30rwkw through the mid. He will be able to clear up the exact power increases. I can't remember exactly but those numbers do ring a bell.
  10. dangerman4, The plenum and heatsoak really isn't an issue as on wot the air moves in and out of there so damn quick that it has so very very limited time to absorb heat. You would be much much much better off spending the $$ on a nice exh. manifold. Regarding knock.. From my experience its not really linear. You tune it and get x knock no matter how much ign you punch in (providing its not massively retarded) I find the few pfc's I've watched + mine tend to get up around 30-45ish depending on the engine and knock sensors. Following that if you dial in 1 more degree it will spike to 70+ and ping. Its not like as you approach detonation the knock levels slowly rise. Well not from my experience anyway.
  11. Hey Disco. Dangerman4 is running an aftermarket manifold. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...st&id=55759 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...st&id=55758 All though its probably better than stock the method that has been used to on its collector and and 3 in to 1 method is less than desirable. The HKS low mount definitely has it up on the manifold Dangerman4 is running. If you want some decent pics of the hks exh. manifold I could grab some for you. Throw the camera in macro mod and take a couple hundred shots getting all and every angle. Thats if you haven't seen in in person.
  12. SirRacer, AM-Performance posted pics not so long ago in this thread. He's cleaned up the runners real nice.
  13. Don't need to clutch kick with the RB30. Put the foot down and it lights up the rears. I've never been that much of a boy racer to clutch kick. In fact I've never done it in the R32. The old VS 5ltr 5speed commodore I ownder prior received lots of 'clutch kicks' as it didn't have the balls to get the arse end out by simply applying power when leaving a corner.
  14. 3lit3, By retarding the exh. cam by 2 degree's what sort of gains do you see? Mid to high rpm with no noticable loss from the low end?
  15. Ok got the centerlines... R32 RB25DE Inlet: 240dur 7.8mm lift, Centerline: 112degree's Exh.: 232dur 7.3mm lift, Centerline: 118degree's (I think) IVO: 8, IVC: 52, EVO: 54, EVO: -2 In/Exh lobe relationship (LCA): 115degree's Overlap: 6degree's RB20DET Inlet: 240dur 7.8mm lift, Centerline: 115degree's Exh.: 240dur 7.8mm lift, Centerline: 120degree's IVO: 5, IVC: 55, EVO: 60, EVC: 0 In/Exh. labe relationship (LCA): 117.5degree's Overlap: 5degree's Should give you a good head start in where to begin fiddling. Also note the tomei web site lists very very slightly(LCA) different specs for the cams. I'll believe the engine manual. Where to start with the 3ltr... No idea
  16. I think what people mean is top end peak power doesn't increase much past 12psi. The gains to be had by upping boost are through the mid range which essentially accelerates you quicker to the peak power. So.. the car feels quicker.
  17. Definitely some tweaking to do ash. Drop Andrew a line and see what he set his up at. All though he was running RB20DET cams which run a 240duration 7.8mm lift exh cam vs the rb25de's 232duration 7.3mm. I'll try to dig up the R32 RB25DE and RB20DET cam centerlines to get you started.
  18. Pinout wire 57 from memory needs to be snipped. See Paul's pfc faq. http://paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com/docs/...powerfc-faq.htm It contains the ecu pin out comparison there.
  19. Its quite simple really... If your running a highflow turbo pushing 20psi and still having to trim fuel then its obvious you have larger injectors. You need to be a little more specific when describing your problems in the future. Give all the information you can if you want help and not get all secret about it when asked a question about it. For example... how much power is it making, what other mods are done to the car when you bought it and what mods have you since done to it, where was fuel trimmed (idle, cruise, wot 2000rpm, wot 3000rpm wot high rpm where and by roughly how much) We are all here to help each other.....
  20. Curiousity. What IT and AT temps were people seeing on the day?
  21. Its good you disagree. I had a spin off max's but it still had that auto lag where if I drop it back it took a fraction of a second to do something. But in reality its no different to a manual where you have to manually shift which takes time. Does the shift kit improve the kick down and down shift speed? I would assume so. LMAO ash at the old comment.. Yep my driving style has changed, I find I cruise everywhere with the odd squirt in a straight line. Shall be good fun; Andrew, might have to show these manual homo's a thing or two on a cruise. *jk*
  22. Was probably Wills sausages. lmao I remember Andrew (nightcrawler) telling me how much he liked Wills sausage. lol
  23. I think it will have a little to do with the highmount exh. manifold and as a result the ability to run a decent collector with minimal sharp bends. All aids in maintaining equal reversion across all cylinders. The motors VE would be up as the motor is able to expel the exh. gasses easier not to mention less of the exh. gas will be left lingering in the combustion chamber ready to contaminate and heat the intake charge, which essentially lowers the motors detonation threashold allowing you to run a little more ign timing to get you just that bit closer to MTBT. As there's less exh. gas in the comb. chamber it also means the motors VE will be up. So more power on the same level of boost or another way to look at it the same power with less boost. The exh. side of it really is critical as you start getting up over 300rwkw. But playing with nice exh. manifolds gets expensive and begins to look non stock. UNLESS you can track down a HKS cast item and squeeze that in. They are well designed with no sharp bends with a reasonable collector; well as reasonable as you can get in a low mount. Shall be interesting to see your results regarding more fuel more ign. timing; blow that article I posted above out of the water.
  24. lmao only playing. Yep pitty we didn't see some SOHC RB action, would have been good to see as there's plenty of vlt's getting around making some serious grunt.
