ohh yea finally... Awesome work McStocky... You know I'm a vid/pic man so be sure to grab one once its all up and running. What injectors have you got planned for it?
-
They have failed in the past. Bl4ck32's went soon after the cam belt was replaced, the bolt simply sheared off. Maybe it was overtightened... who knows. Go to a different nissan that deals with the imports regulary, here in Adelaide both Main North and Grand Nissan rarely require chassis numbers.

Dyno Results: 196rwkw For Basically Stock Rb25det
Cubes replied to Taso84's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Depends on your long term goals. If you don't plan to throw a highflow on it just grab another cheap (if they are cheap that is) stock item from a wreckers and try. Otherwise.. grab a nismo item. They work well and are well priced. Grab one from nengun/perfectrun and the like. -
Sounds like a VL/R31 AFM.

Thats definitely a strange leanout.. Flat 13 all the way through. Could it be a bung FPR? -
Off the current discussion topic a little.. Would have any one measured up the R32 RB25DE valve spring installed height? Wouldn't be 1.400" by any chance..

lol thats an interesting question.

I think the ground clearance for the fmic is the same as the rest of the car... 100mm off the ground. I think its 100mm.. Somewhere around that anyway. Give regency a buzz, they are quite helpfull.

I tried trimming and gave up after cutting myself on the first. + my inj. boots were stuffed anyway so they needed replacing. What resistor pack did you go with? R30/280zx type?

Fs: R33 Vspec Gtr Valve Springs
Cubes posted a topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hi ppls, I'm selling a set of R33 GTR VSPEC Valve Springs I bought for my R32 RB25DE head, plans have since changed and I no longer need them. They have been tested by Chris Milton Engineering here in Adelaide and all came up perfect. They came out of an imported R33 GTR VSPEC motor that had only done ~30,000km's. So not suprising they came up perfect when tested. Will suit R32 RB25DE or R32 RB20DET heads. SOLD -
GTR injectors are never a direct fit in to any R32 GTST, the lug has to always be trimmed off OR do what I and many others have done; purchased new injector plugs from motortraders. If you wish to trim the lug grab a decent stanley knife blade and sit there for a whole day skimming that hard plastic until the lug is no longer. They sell them in sets of 2 and from memory all up are ~$48, thats $16 per pair. The GTR VL injector plugs are the same so thats what you are after. They should have them in stock so take an injector down to be sure.

In SA you can have both an FMIC and POD. Its only interstate where they have that silly 1 intake mod law. You MUST not interfere with the pipe that runs from the AFM to turbo and also must not interfere with the BOV (yes this also means the cross over pipe must remain standard) and its recirc pipe. Apart from that yes... You can have a pod providing its secured, you can also have an fmic providing it has sufficient ground clearance and there is no cutting of the body work involved, which rules out 90% of the FMIC kits available. I run a Sperco Bar/plate with center position in/outlets, this allows an easy 180degree bend to be used so I am able to run the piping back to the stock route. My piping leaves the turbo, uses the stock piping route in to the inner bumper, the piping then runs behind the FMIC at the bottom (airflow here is blocked by the bumpers lower lip so no issues doing this) it then throws a 180degree bend in to the fmic, the air cools through the fmic, it then has a nice short route to the cross over pipe once again using the stock piping route. Ring regency.. This is what I was told some time ago when looking in to allowed mods.

Bl4ck32 and myself ran 2 tensioners. They are locking tensioners so once locked up they are essentially idlers. The idlers were the expensive suckers. Tensioners were cheap. Either that or press out the old bearings and drop in a new, cheapest way out. Be sure to also replace the $2 tensioner/idler stud. I think I actually have a new/reco'd tensioner laying around. Its also interesting to note... Holden's RB30 tensioners are exactly the same apart from the fact they are tight arses and only used 1 bearing compared to nissan running 2 side by side.

Good to hear its finally all sorted.. How do you find the manual compared to the old auto?

2.4 Rb20 Stroker Or Drop An Rb25det In?
Cubes replied to Lukaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I didn't reuse headstuds. They weren't terribly expensive but as you say... Where does one stop. Stick with the rb20 and ram boost in to it I say.. When it pops throw another $500 RB20 in. Rebuilding motors I worry about popping it. $500 cheap rb20 who cares, hammer it enjoy it. -
Its the R32. The R32 GTS4 doesn't have any known weakness apart from the same old GTR third gear issue that some run in to from time to time.

2.4 Rb20 Stroker Or Drop An Rb25det In?
Cubes replied to Lukaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
When I origionally suggested the rb25de route I said one would have to change pistons, and yes valve springs will also need to be replaced with a $200-$300 set of GTR springs. Forgot about that one... Its a little bit of the its a fresh motor or a second hand motor.... By all means the second hand motors do appear to be not too bad but personally I'd prefer a fresh motor and it shouldn't cost you more than 1k over the purchase price of a s/h rb25det. -
2.4 Rb20 Stroker Or Drop An Rb25det In?
Cubes replied to Lukaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Was their comparison between an RB25DET in an R32 to the RB24 in an R32 or an RB25DET in an R33 vs the RB24 in the R32. If the latter its possible the rb24 will feel as if it has more torque as the R32 is both lighter and runs a lower diff ratio. The other possibility is that the R32 inlet runners and ports are considerably smaller than the RB25's, increasing velocity at low engine speed, this too improves low down torque but creates a greater restriction at higher airflow levels. ------------ -

I do miss the scream and top end power feel where it doesn't simply nose over but just keep screaming. -
Darren, How long ago was it u were with Addecco? They have recently (last year or 2) moved from the temp/casual type work to only full time type work. Reason I know this is I had heard good things about them regarding how much work they have going that tends to lead on to full time permanent work. I went to register with them but they wouldn't accept me as I was a student and they said they only accept people who are able to work full time as the positions they offer are full time only. So really I was wrong saying most labour hire as thats simply not correct. There appears to be two main types of labour hire, small position filling type work to full time positions. Integrated is good but they 80% of the time don't offer full time work that goes for longer than a couple of months.
-
TPS boost control would feel rather strange after being used to a turbo snapping on hard at part throttle. Would be quite a good idea. What EBC supports such a feature?
-
Unfortunately thats the way all labour hire works as they need people quick to fill a position that some bum has walked out on, that is unless you get a rare advance notice. Out of all the jobs I've had through intergrated the only one that gave me a week notice was the boral asphalt job.

2.4 Rb20 Stroker Or Drop An Rb25det In?
Cubes replied to Lukaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yep no VVT. The head etc literally looks exactly the same as an RB20DET. The only difference is the side of the combustion chamber, valves and larger inlet ports. With regards to the rb20 head on an rb30 in a VL running a 10. Thats no big deal.. An rb30et (SOHC) touch over 300rwkw, slicks, stally and an auto pulls in to the 10's with SOHC. -
Top RB20 Club... do you have over 260rwkw?

Apparently the City Dismantlers bloke went to purchase AIR then Bob Allrounder found out and pulled the pin (bad blood between the two). There was a little thread in SA regarding the speculation of what was going on. Apparently the city dismantlers dude is switching the direction of which the drag strip runs.. So your not running in to the sun as the afternoon approaches.
